We visit peak edge 1 or 2 times a year and it was particularly cosy and festive this time of year. Every nook was decorated. The food was amazing and the staff were really friendly

    Nothing!

Location excellent for visiting Chatsworth and Hardwick Hall. Hotel absolutely beautiful, so many little design details to spot. Red Lion restaurant delightful.

A tiny, tiny thing - the stand for all the tea and coffee making stuff looked great but was a little impractical. This is a very minor point though.

Stunning Christmas decorations cosy places to sit, Rooms were gorgeous and spacious. Staff extremely helpful and friendly.

The party room wasn’t very busy and table decor wasn’t as nice as the year before.

The food, staff and service were excellent.

The hearting/air conditioning in the room was not good. I wasn't able to get a comfortable warm room even with turning up the heating it was still cold. The bathroom was a little sparse and no magnifying mirror that pulls out was supplied. The lighting in the bathroom was not adequate. The pillows were too big for the pillowcases.

Cannot fault this hotel. Large airy rooms with very large comfortable bed. Good quality refreshments in room. The decor in room and throughout hotel is gorgeous - very calming and cosy. Staff are very friendly.

From walking through the door to check out was perfect. Greeted with a smile and friendly efficient welcome from reception staff. Room stunning. Bar service excellent. Evening meal excellent food delicious staff superb. The room bed facilities and cleanliness second to none we have stayed before and never stayed in a more perfect place

    10KeithPosted on: 12-7-2025

The general atmosphere of the hotel and pub, the property is well maintained and its design is in keeping with the area. From reception to the restaurant a lovely warm welcome from the staff and they were efficient. The food was excellent!

The only thing that was disappointing was £3.50 for a mince pie and the mulled wine £9 both more expensive than Chatsworth’s Christmas market!

    10LindaPosted on: 11-17-2025

Room was spotless ,fabulous choice of breakfast. Bed was so comfortable with decent pillows .Bathroom had a bath plus a wet room with a shower .

    8KarlPosted on: 11-17-2025

All the meals were very nice, and the building was immaculately maintained.

I thought the room specification was not up to the cost we paid for it. The bed is very standard, and the decor is quite normal.

We spent an excellent few days at the hotel which we used as a base for the area. The food was superb and the staff very friendly. The quality of the furnishings and the ambience in the bar area are particularly comfortable and welcoming.

More attention could be given to ensuring the (excellent) range of teas are restocked each day in the room.

Fabulous room,we were upgraded to a suite for our anniversary. Location was great, loved sitting outside having a drink ,just enjoying the view.Restaurant and bar area nicely designed. All staff were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast very good

Our dinner was on a Sunday evening, disappointed with the choice.Food nice, but nothing special.

    Good location, comfy beds

Couple of the staff were rude, rooms not kept up to standard. Broken plug hole in bathroom. Curtain had stains all over them

    10ChristopherPosted on: 10-28-2025

Room was very comfortable and well equipped, the staff very friendly and helpful

We attended a wedding with 140 guests and maybe the food could have been a bit hotter but very difficult to achieve I imagine
