- I stayed at this venue to attend a Christmas works party.Whilst using the venue and the restaurant it was sufficient to my needs and The food in the restaurant was excellent.I would however like to complain about the bed it was so uncomfortable I didn't have a good night's sleep. I was offered an alternative but was informed the bed would the same standard. I also paid for breakfast which going down just before 10 everything was finished. On attending the works Christmas party the food was very poor. No taste what so ever, the portion sizes were very little with hardly nothing on the plate. There were too many people on 1 table, with no room to lift your arms to eat, very squashed. The venue room was too small for the amount of guests and felt very crowded and cluttered.
Cons -
- Two weddings on Saturday and Sunday meant loud music and loud people throughout the stay. Not the hotels fault but maybe if we had notice we could have moved our weekend. Parking was a riot with the wedding party there
- breakfast could have been more buffet style so that we could taste and take what we need rather than set menu and ordering
- Everything mentioned above

It was a beautiful old hotel that was very comfortable. I wish I could have stayed longer.
The TV in our room was extremely small for the size of the room.
Location
restaurant, cold room then noisy ac to warm up room
hotel room beautiful, dinner a disappointment
problem with serving dinner: understaffed, long waits
lovely classic country home. large bedroom .good breakfast.
very small bathroom. shower curtain in place of glass door which must have broken and cloak room small sink.
Not marked staff above as check-in was excellent, however...
.... checkout staff were terrible. Also, having specified a ground floor room, I found myself on the second floor, up four sets of stairs and no lift option. For a 77 year old with a heavy bag and suit hanger this was really not good. Needless to say, I didn't go all the way back to the ground floor for the bar and restaurant. And I have to say that the ventilation in the rooms was appalling . Only two windows opened and these closed themselves after being let go. In the end I had to wedge things under them to get any cooler air in. The fact that every other window in bedroom and bathroom was painted over and impossible to open, makes me wonder when the Fire Inspector last had a good look. And, on the subject of fire, there was neither clear marking as to what to do in the event of such an occurrence nor any obvious fire exit marked. The other problem in the very black decor bedroom, was that everything was at around knee height - chairs, settee, bed, tables. For somebody of slightly above average height, I found I was having to bend down to do everything, and then struggle to get up from seated positions. In the bathroom, it was impossible to fill the wash basin as the plug closing mechanism was missing, while in the bedroom, despite the presence of a variety of drinks options, there wasn't a simple pad and pen on offer for the self-declared business traveler. All in all, the hotel reminded me of nothing more than than the phrase, 'All fur coat and no knickers!'Ah well, you did ask!Shame, a beautiful setting.
Staff very kind, helpful and understanding.
Room very hot, a fan had been brought into the room. But, no windows that opened.
It would have been better if they hadn’t had a power cut from Friday at 2.30pm until nearly 11pm. We had to go out to eat. Felt sorry for the large wedding party. Not the hotels fault but it did make our stay disappointing. Ray
Good location for what I needed
The room was not overly clean, the floor was filthy and needed a good clean/hoover. The staff were appalling, the fire alarm went off (due to steam from the shower or deodorant I’m not sure why really, it went off about about 20 seconds), 2 males came to my door and gave me a ‘warning’ in case I was smoking or vaping (I was not as I do not smoke or vape) and they claimed they could not tell if I had been smoking or vaping but if I was please make sure I’m doing it outside, upon leaving I noticed a letter hidden under a tissue box stating I was being charged £150 for smoking/vaping in my room, when I questioned this in reception, the lady told me the 2 males had said they had entered my room and witnessed me vaping (they did not enter my room or witness me vaping as I do not vape - I was on a video meet with my girlfriend at the time who can prove this). This is now apparently under investigation and is a stress I do not need.
Lovely old building , plenty of parking and beautiful groundsStaff friendly Room large and comfortable
Hotel was lovely and staff we met were really good.
The bins in our room wasn’t emptied and were used tena still in there. The bed was not comfortable and the pillows over stuffed. I would stay there again if the rooms were cleaned better.
Great location. Comfortable rooms. Super restaurant. All the staff are fabulous.
Overall a reasonable stay and it served its purpose as a base while we went house-hunting in the area. The room was fine although the service inconsistent. Toiletries replenished one day but not the next. Bed not remade - although cushions put back onto bed. Internet not 100% reliable and TV remote ‘Guide’ didn’t work although we could change channels! We had to work out how to override the radiator timer as the room became colder in the evenings.
Very friendly and helpful staff good food easy access
Lovely clean, warm and comfy room. Great choice at breakfast. Staff are very helpful and professional.
Friendly helpfully staff
Kettle was on top of chest of drawers but cable didn't reach plug socket so had to put it on floor to boil it
The hotel and surroundings are lovely.
There was very little vegetarian food on offer in the restaurant. ( One gnocci dish and one sandwich). A bit more choice would have been good for my husband, who ended up having the sandwich.
Room was fine, clean etc. Staff were great
Room had no pictures on the wall made it feel a little soulless, bit like the bar, it was very quiet. The food wasn't that good, although breakfast sausage was great. The last night I had fish fingers in a 'toasted' roll. The fish was cooked, but luke warm and the roll wasn't toast, I would have mentioned it to the staff but there wasn't anyone around.
