Pros +
- The location is stunning. Staff very friendly and accommodating. Ambience relaxing and hotel itself is very quirky. Food is excellent.
- This hotel was so wonderful I stayed and extra two nights. The owner of the hotel and all the staff were so helpful and friendly. I felt completely at ease and looked after from the time I walked in the door. The hotel is situated next to a loch and canal (excellent for a stroll) and I had a beautiful view over the water and across to a castle on the further shore. The bed was so comfortable, the breakfast was excellent (served in a room overlooking the water), and there were two lounge areas with comfortable seating where you could sit and chat or read a book in complete comfort. The service was excellent without being at all intrusive and someone was always available if you had a question or wanted some local knowledge. And I have to mention the food in the restaurant. It was so good. Their specialty was local seafood and every dish was excellent. I highly recommend this hotel.
- The hotel is one of a kind. The location is outstanding and the staff/ambience friendly, happy and perfect for the setting
Cons -
- There was nothing I did not love about this hotel. From the service, to the room, to the position, to the proximity to walks and local attractions, to the food. I felt completely looked after and would very happily recommend this hotel to anyone wanting a delightful experience.
- The hot water, and at times, the noisy heating system
- I couldn't get my door to lock.

The location was exactly what we wanted and the staff were very friendly and helpful the food was very good and the bar was nice and clean
Stunning location, friendly staff. Amazing seafood dinner and breakfast. Strong connection to the location and interest in the arts. A fantastic stay. Thank you.
I couldn't get my door to lock.
You will not be disappointed staying here. Scottish Hospitality and Wonderful scenery.
Bit dated (but thats the charm of it.)
The staff, the food and the accommodation were all outstanding. I would happily have stayed for the whole summer!!
Location is wonderful, our room overlooked the loch..the food on the seafood bar was very nice and freshly cooked breakfast.
Hotel very tired .No USB plugs ,hand held shower but no shower curtain.
Breakfast and dinner were both excellent. Lovely staff. Comfortable room and bed with sensational views over Crinan Loch. Pleasantly old fashioned, traditional ambiance. Linen table cloth and napkins with fresh flowers on table. Art and paintings everywhere. Hot water towel rail on twice a day to dry towels, very thoughtful. Adjacent coffee shop (owned by hotel) by the canal has good coffee and very tasty scones.
A touch expensive. Shower over bath a bit old fashioned. Male toilets off bar could do with an upgrade.
You cannot beat the location of the Crinan Hotel right on the water across from Duntrune Castle at the Crinan Canal. The scenery is spectacular. The restaurant is wonderful for lunch or dinner and the included breakfast is delicious. The building is old , but lovely. Our room was comfortable and well outfitted with incredible views out across the water. We would definitely stay again !
A wonderful hotel with stunning views, comfortable rooms and a top class restaurant in an excellent location for exploring the area
Beautiful setting, amazing quirky style, wonderful, welcoming staff. And of course fabulous food.
Scallop shell in shower! Fell off onto my foot. OUCH
The location is beautiful with stunning views. Food in the restaurant was very good when we eventually got to order.
The young barman was sullen to say the least, think he felt he was doing us a favour serving us. It took 45 minutes in the restaurant before someone came to take our order. The hotel in general needs some freshening up flaking paintwork in bedrooms & public areas is not a good look & the heating in the bedrooms & public areas needs attention.
Cheery staff. Lots of atmosphere & old world charm downstairs in the public areas.
The breakfast dining area is cold in the mornings. The bathroom was outdated. Flaky paintwork around the skylight pointed to a problem of maintenance. The bath was not clean. The room was not serviced in spite of leaving a request tag on the door.
The location is stunning. The room was lovely with great views out over the sea. All the staff were welcoming, friendly and attentive. Food was to a very high standard.
Nothing to dislike
Location and views are stunning. Food was mainly excellent. Staff were mostly lovely and attentive. Occasional errors in our orders were amusing rather than irritating.
Room was adequately serviced however bathroom was not.
fabulous location and viewsinteresting interiorfood was also very good only niggle was the red wine ordered was a very cold temperature
The view from our bedroom window was amazing. The extremely comfy bed and good pillows.
The curtain track needed replaced so it was very hard to open or close the curtains . The bathroom badly needed modernised.
Great location - very peaceful, with historic canal interest. Panoramic views from room, which was spacious, very clean and comfortable. Cosy bar. Delicious, generous breakfast. Friendly and helpful staff. We also appreciated the opportunity of the informative boat excursion, and enjoyed looking at the owner’s paintings in the hotel.
Second stay at this wonderful hotel , the location , the team , the food ,all first class , this hotel has so much character and charm , built up over years of exceptional service , yes some parts may be a little dated but that is all part of the charm !!
