Lovely room ( no view but that didn't matter) - great evening meal and super breakfast- very friendly helpful staff

Lovely location, wonderful beach view from our room.Friendly and welcoming staff. Great breakfast.

The only thing we found fault with was how hard the mattress and pillows were. I gave feedback on checkout.Had a difficult restless night with a 12 hour road journey ahead of us. Otherwise, it's a lovely hotel, I feel mean to give a lower score, but sleep is important.

Main meal at night was excellent, staff were also very friendly and helpful.Breakfast was also first class and again staff were brilliant.

We have no complaints about the Hotel or staff or the location. IT was a nice place to stay, bedroom was good and warm. Shower was first class and towels were clean and well laid out.

One room was fine , no problem at all. everything worked! The other room we booked left a little to be desired.

The other room was not really fit for purpose. My elderly uncle couldn't get the shower to work ,at least not warm enough anyway. The towel rail wouldn't work at all. I don't think the room should have been used

Excellent choice including smoked fish and salmon with poached eggs, all made to order with table service.

Northern Sands Hotel is a very nice facility located along the main roadway through Dunnett. It is an older building, well run and clean, with a small dining area offering dinner and breakfast options. Food is good and well-prepared. Staff is really nice people! Beds are comfortable. We had booked a separate stay, which the facility allowed us to cancel on short notice when our return ferry from Orkney was cancelled due to weather. The staff here really are super people!

As an older person who had just walked down and back up a great many stairs at a ruin a few miles back and definitely experiencing terrifically painful leg muscles, an elevator would have been such a delight. But a very nice person from reception picked up my bag like it was a feather, leaving me to wrestle only my legs up the stairs. Rooms are clean, but very small, as is the bathroom.

Property was clean and the staff were welcoming. Breakfast was fantastic.

Trivial complaint, but waited around 45 minutes to get our meal after it was ordered. However, the meal was excellent when it arrived.

We checked in and were escorted to our room. The room was well appointed and clean. We had dinner, drinks, and great conversation with some others in the lounge bar. The staff did a great job. The breakfast choices were wide-ranging. Our breakfasts were excellent.

Breakfast was adequate but another local hotel does a very tasty buffet breakfast which is far superior.

The room was spotless but small for the cost. Attractive decor & lovely bathroom with good shower!

Great location for gills bay ferry. It was clean and warm, good facilities and friendly staff.

Disappointing breakfast on 2nd day . Lots of choice and could have had a full Scottish , however I chose just 3 items and was surprised at the meagre size. -half a tomato a small spoon of beans and one hard poached egg.Otherwise it’s been great.

They were happy to provide an early cooked breakfast so that we could catch a ferry to Orkney. Dinners were very good and the breakfast kipper magnificent!

Everything! The plainness of the exterior does not reflect how good this place is. The staff were all consistently great, I suspect that's not an accident. Hotel and rooms are modern and bright as is the restaurant which we had a lovely meal at. A hotel to be proud of
