    Pros +

    • Excellent continental breakfast. The owners also run the B&B and they are very friendly and attentive. Location is good for visiting places of interest. Our room was spacious with plenty of hanging and drawer space with a comfortable king sized bed
    • The hosts, Greg and Jacqui could not have been friendlier or more helpful, with excellent suggestions for what to see and do.. The location was great for access to King's Lynn and the coastal resorts of north west and north Norfolk, as well as many other attractions inland. The continental breakfast was delicious and just what we like. Our room (family room) was spacious, well equipped and spotlessly clean.
    • lovely property and the new owners are fantastic

    Cons -

    • There isn't an eating place in the village for lunch or dinner but there are good pub/restaurants in adjacent villages only a mile or two away.
    • The guest house is situated on quite a busy road, and the traffic noise is such that we felt the need to keep the windows shut at night. This solved the problem as they are double-glazed, and there is a fan to keep the room cool should the need arise.
    • it was a shame that it had just been taken over so no cooked breakfasts and no bar at night. But all was explained when we got there which we understood. The property is a bit out of the way, and getting taxis was a nightmare, in fact we never managed to get one and to travel a mile down the road we were quoted £25 each way! so that’s the only real issue we had

Our preferences for breakfast were requested and met with generous provision of fruit, cereals, porridge, toast, croissants, orange juice and coffee. The owners' evident enthusiasm for their new business and their plans to improve their offering. The toiletries provided in the bathroom were first rate.

Nothing that did not appear to be addressed in the owners' plans for improvements.

Excellent a nd rare hospitality. Bottle of chilled wine on arrival, cakes daily and chilled water with sufficient choices of teas, coffees and drinking chocolate.

    All absolutely fine

    Perfect

We were not on the ground floor as was said.Wish we had been because of the steep staircase.

Wow wow wow. What a find. One of the best B and Bs we have ever stayed in (and we’ve stayed in quite a few)The hospitality we received from Duncan and Rose was exceptional. The breakfast was as good as a 5star hotel and the extras in our room remarkable. It was a pleasure to return to The Old Bell each day to find a sparkling clean room, fresh towels and homemade cake.We were too late finding you Duncan and Rose.Good luck and all the best on your new adventure.Xxx

The accommodation was spotless, we were given a lovely welcome and the food was delicious, our bed was super comfortable and we both got a great nights sleep.

To be honest there wasn’t anything we didn’t like.

Rose and Duncan were amazing hosts and went above and beyond even giving our little girls snacks for our days out. Dogs were very friendly and the highlight of our daughters holiday.

    8JasminePosted on: 6-6-2022

Property was beautiful, clean and had all the toiletries you could need in the bathroom. Many types of tea, coffee and biscuits etc. Fridge in the room which was a bonus! Rose is an exceptional host, when we arrived there was scones in the room and a bottle of wine in the fridge. We booked a last minute stay for two nights and our room was cleaned and tidied beautifully after our first night and Victoria sponge cake left in the room for us! We couldn’t have asked for more!

Duncan made us feel very unwelcome from the moment we arrived. We had our very well behaved dog with us, and upon our arrival he made a comment about her not sleeping on the bed and making too much noise. (She got a little excited on arrival but was quite for the rest of our stay!) Admittedly, I didn’t inform that we had a dog, as no where on the booking asked and I could see from the reviews this was a very dog friendly establishment. We then received another comment at breakfast on our first day regarding us both ensuring we ate all of our breakfast as this is what we had ordered. This was very off putting. On our second morning, my partner was unwell and we didn’t make it down for breakfast on time. My priority was to ensure she was okay and I received several phone calls from Duncan. When I answered the phone I was shouted at down the phone, being interrupted whilst I was trying to explain why we wasn’t at breakfast, which as you can imagine was very upsetting. I then got the comment ‘why is she Ill, is she on drugs or something?’ at which point I hung up the phone as there was no need for such a comment. I appreciate that maybe breakfast had been cooked, but at this time it was already to late for me to inform and we had already paid for this, whether we actually ate it or not. Maybe I was in the wrong? but the whole experience made me feel very uncomfortable and upset for the rest of our day. Rose went out of her way to ensure that we was okay following this, and also throughout our stay. She was very polite and welcoming to us from the moment we met her, An incredible woman. Such a shame our stay was let down by this. I wasn’t going to leave a review regarding this, however I have read some previous reviews and feel like I am not the only person that has been spoken to like this by Duncan.

An exceptional weekend away. Duncan and Rose ( our hosts), could not have done enough to make our stay more welcoming for my partner and I and our two dogs. The Old Bell was the cleanest guest house that I have ever stayed in, and the breakfast was amazing, with a pretty paved garden at the rear with a seating area where we could enjoy a well deserved beer/wine from their bar after a long day at the beach. We will definitely be going back soon ?.

the hosts had thought of all the things a guest could possibly want plus extra treats. i felt really spoiled. The rooms were spotless and comfortable. As a lone traveller I felt immediately at ease. Wish i could bottle some of their kindness and take it home with me!

    nothing could have been improved

    9MalcolmPosted on: 9-4-2021

Very friendly owners made the stay very pleasant. Breakfast was prenominal, if you couldn't find something to suit your appetite or palate you would be impossible to please.

There wasn't anything not to like. It isn't the Burj Khalifa and its not in the same price range either. The room however was an upstairs double not a downstairs twin!!

    9MartinPosted on: 8-28-2021

Location, friendly staff, well equipped room., fantastic breakfast and special cakes made everyday by host.

    10JamesPosted on: 8-12-2021

Excellent all round experience. The hosts Rose and Duncan made you feel very welcome.Superb accommodation and great breakfast. Will definitely visit again.

    8JuliePosted on: 8-3-2021

Breakfast was excellent. The hosts were very accommodating & easy to chat to.Clean & comfortable room with the most choice of coffees/teas/soups on a tray that we'd ever seen. The fridge was a bonus.Bathroom was well stocked with toiletries.

The traffic noise which obviously was out of the host's control. The room was advertised as soundproof but because the weather was warm we needed the window open. There was a ceiling fan in the room so everything was done to make us comfortable.
