Copthorne Hotel London Gatwick

The hotel was dark and there was a terrible smell of tar in the first room we had and it was so awful that we asked for another room. The staff were not particularly service minded.

The location is great for Gatwick and Crawley.

The staff are super-unfriendly, particularly to aircrew. The hotel rooms could do with a thorough cleaning.

This is a very charming "old world" luxurious feel hotel with multiple very nice restaurant areas and at least a couple bar areas. Beautifully appointed foyer and hallways. $5 shuttle to airport every hour starting early in am, perfect!

Front desk staff who helped me was efficient (quick) but not very friendly. It's wasn't a great first impression of the staff, but I found bartender and servers in restaurant warmer and more welcoming.

The address to the hotel is wrong in both google maps and uber! The hotel shuttle is not free- nor is internet! The staff were miserable and treated me awfully!

Car Park charge of £5 for an empty car park.Hotels own Covid questionnaire and interrogation requiring papers to be shown which goes beyond anything I have had to fill in before(demeaning).Had to fill in Breakfast order(for a continental breakfast),..which had to be collected in a paper bag exposed at reception on departure. Requests totally ignored, meaning most of breakfast was thrown away because it had dairy in it. Pathetic offerings too, Even £10 was too much for this service station/festival nose bag.Reception tried to charge me twice for it as well, luckily I had my own papers to confirm I had already paid for their meagre offering

Covid meant that I walked down to pick up my pre ordered breakfast on a tray from the bar area at my pre allotted time. I had a call to my room to say it would be ready in a few minutes, a very cheery voice at the other end of the phone. Unfortunately, the breakfast was pretty inedible. It was already cold, the mushrooms tasted of soap and the bacon looked like it was well past its date. The toast was wrapped in clingfilm and had already gone soggy. Day 2 I was hopeful for better. Thankfully it was nice and hot and everything was fresh, but I had been given no cutlery to eat it with. thankfully I had bought my own spoon so ate it with that .The toast was the same as the previous day. Day one the milk was from the little uht pots and the following morning it was fresh milk. I must admit I was a little disappointed but I should have called to explain my issues, but I was in a rush and wouldn’t have had time to wait for replacements anyway. I decided I was going to mention it as I checked out but had to leave my key on the desk as there was no one on reception.

Obviously it felt a little eery, being pretty much closed due to Covid, I didn’t see or hear a soul while I was there, but was overall grateful to have a room for 2 nights whilst on a training course. I was impressed with the Covid safe measures the hotel had in place

Despite the Government's shutdowns and determination to make life miserable, this hotel was a little pocket of pleasure while on an essential trip. To be fair, one or two things have been let slip due to lack of use or prohibition, but everything necessary for a pleasant stay is still in place. The staff is doing all it can to make the best of it for the customers. The surroundings are lovely and it is very convenient for the airport. The room was a bargain and I will certainly stay there again while in the area.

I would have liked a meal in the restaurant but that was not the hotel's fault.

Bathroom freezing cold . Room cold. No heating. Room smells of old furniture. Room was about a ten minute walk from reception despite the hotel being empty!

The price was good and hotel and rooms were lovely. The location was very convenient.

The location is ideally placed for the airport. With good parking.

Unfortunately the room was very shabby need lots of maintenance done on it. The bath was damaged and the bathroom very cold heating not working the room had a smoke smile. The grounds if the hotel were in a terrible mess.

Very nice property, very rustic which made it that much extra memorable for me. The only thing I have to say which let it down, was when I called a week prior to our arrival they said we could check in from 11 but that wasn’t the case. We both found that the lady on the reception desk this morning was moody and grumpy. She didn’t give you that welcome feeling. Overall nice stay and will hopefully return in the future.

Absolutely outstanding hotel perfectly located. Helpful, friendly staff. The guy at the reception Torsten did go above and beyond to make sure we have the best time. We will definitely come back and I would highly recommend this hotel :)
