Pros +
- Lovely hotel, very comfortable with friendly, attentive staff. Beautiful room, good breakfast and great to see the work they were doing with the gardens.
- Beautiful property, delicious home cooked breakfast, bed was comfortable
- We had a fantastic stay, our girls were thrilled with the 'secret' garden. We were made to feel very welcome, breakfast was great and would recommend to anyone. There are low roofs and uneven floors but for me this added to the charm. A superb night's stay enjoyed by all 4 of us.
Cons -
- Absolutely nothing
- The shower was incredibly small in our twin room, and if you're 6 foot or over, be careful with the low ceilings
- Dvd player in the back of the tv didn't work but it could be we failed to use it properly. I was too embarrassed to ask.

The room was clean and the bed was comfy. Nice selection of complimentary drinks and biscuits. We had clean towels. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. The breakfast was delicious.
The room had uneven floors and was just a bit tired looking. The shower wasn't very powerful and although hot enough for me, my husband would have preferred it hotter.
I booked this for my son for his birthday, he said the hotel was very clean and a perfect location
Ceilings were a little low… his friend and himself are 6ft plus
Bad
The fact my room had a water tank directly above the ceil where our bed was, it keep filling up all night. Did'nt get a wink of sleep. Had to leave the property at 3 in the morning and find a taxi
The environment and those running it where excellent. Breakfast was fantastic and the staff where just so helpful and enjoyable to be around. Very helpful too when we arrived late due to traffic
There are a few creaks and rattles in this old hotel and she looks a bit tired in places but it somehow seems to add to the quirkiness. Andrew kept us well hydrated at the bar and an absolutely delicious full English for brekkie was the perfect start to the day. In the dire mirth of soulless premier inns, Travel lodges et al, Chalk Farm really was a lot of fun, Thanks to all.
Clean, quiet, comfortable bed, warm, friendly staff
The staff were impressive, very helpful Room was HUGE, a little dated but everything else more than makes up for it, so its pretty awesome.
A little dated in some places
Lovely old building with a very interesting history - it adjoins the farm that George Orwell wrote about in his book Animal Farm!A brilliant thing about this place, is that it’s a charity, that teaches adults with learning difficulties, about life, working, and working in a hotel. This in turn helps these deserving people lead a more independent life. All the team are very friendly, engaging and caring.
Great staff, beautiful setting and building and great to have charity aspect. Super welcoming staff
No coasters and cups burnt side tables, duvet had a mark on it, nice if bath was bigger.
Price.Room size.Staff.
Very faded decorations and fittings.
The room we were given was up in the eves. It was pretty but awkward as headspace was limited in areas.
Too cramped for anyone over 4 foot. Bathroom very dated and floor sloping and soft appeared to need remedial work and updating
The staff are very nice and the breakfast was very tasty The linen and towels were clean
The beds are very uncomfortable, the bathrooms are in need of an update as do the rooms. We do appreciate that this is an old building but things like the beds and the furniture in general are in a bad way. It does not give good value for money I’m afraid to say
Very unique. Old school. Special atmosphere... The garden was lovely. It really felt like taking a time machine into farm life.
The room was a bit cold, and the shower didn't have a good stream of water.
It was a very convenient location for our use. Linen and towels were very clean. Breakfast was good. The reception staff were excellent. There was a problem with the socket being too near the skirting board for my adaptor, but reception managed to sort through other adaptors until we found one that worked.
I know it is an old farmhouse but it could do with a coat of paint. Rather run down. Windows are casement type and basically need changing (there might be a conservation problem that I don't know about). There was a socket which had been replaced - but hadn't been finished off as the grey filler was obvious. It needed a dab of white paint. No whisky behind the bar! Eight assorted gins. Jim Beam is a bourbon and Jameson is an Irish whiskey.
Room was very comfortable with tea, coffee, biscuits and water available. Andrew who greeted us and served breakfast was very friendly and approachable, nothing was too much trouble and he made the stay. The breakfast was exceptional and plenty of it.
Breakfast very good and well presented ,nothing too much trouble ,lovely sleep and great beds
Nothing to dislike
Staff were exceptionally helpful in every way and very obliging. Room was cosy and comfortable. Very convenient for a family wedding.Good breakfast.
