About

Set in 30 acres of private parkland, Bailiffscourt Hotel & Spa features an indoor and outdoor pool, modern spa and fitness center, and tennis courts. The rose-clad courtyard provides an informal setting for light lunches and traditional afternoon teas. A private bathroom, satellite TV and views of the grounds are included in all rooms, with a choice of medieval or contemporary décor offered with the Superior room type. Medieval architecture, gothic mullioned windows and tapestry-hung walls feature in the elegant Tapestry Restaurant at Bailiffscourt Hotel, which serves modern English cuisine. Private dining is available in the conservatory, the music room which features a log fire, or the original Norman chapel. Climping Beach is located 10 minutes’ walk from the hotel. The market town of Arundel is a 15-minute drive and features a medieval castle, cathedral and riverside walks.

    Pros +

    • Location, excellent dinner
    • Very pretty site. Good facilities and in excellent condition.
    • Beautiful place full of charm and medieval atmosphere. Hotel service outstanding throughout. Superb indoor and outdoor heated pools, beautiful natural light in the indoor pool, unique experience swimming outside in cold weather in warm water, and a very pleasant sauna.Excellent restaurant.

    Cons -

    • Being made to wait in line at 3:00, falling over suitcases and dogs in the lobby just to get a key, number of people in the swimming pool (need to restrict the numbers)
    • The majority of service was outstanding and exceeded expectation. One lunch service was poor and borderline rude. Was odd as very out of step with the rest of the service.
    • I did not dislike anything, but if I had to suggest a few areas for improvement, I would mention a bit more variety at lunch, the addition of a refined à-la-carte dinner option for greater flexibility, and the inclusion of sourdough bread at breakfast + Olive oil for the focaccia at dinner.Spa rules should be clearly communicated upon arrival at the spa or given at check in. Providing a bathrobe for massages, as well as a more delicate scent in the massage room, would also be appreciated.

This was my third stay at my favourite hotel. Everything at Bailiffscourt is sumptuous and luxurious. Each room is unique and beautiful, the grounds are spectacular and the spa is elegant and perfect for swimming and relaxing. The food in the tapestry restaurant was delicious and the service perfect.

Great historic building and friendly staff

One day steam room not working the next day the Sauna is not working !

All staff throughout the whole weekend were fantastic - check in desk, spa staff and especially the restaurant staff at both dinner and breakfast, who I'd say went above and beyond. The food and vibe at dinner was exceptional. We loved the traditional hotel vibe, relaxation rooms with fires throughout, the grounds, available walks, things to do/see and the spa was fantastic.

We struggled to get beds at the spa on both days, but it could easily have been because we went over a very busy weekend. The changing rooms were also small, but I am struggling to really find any other negatives.

    Food, and grounds

Bed was uncomfortable and reception didn't pick when I called

The service was exceptional. Friendly and experienced staff at dinner and reception. Enjoyed the dinner and breakfast menu. The spa was lovely and my treatment very relaxing. There was lots of help and facilities for our 9 month old baby, e.g. cot and highchair.Close to the coast and scenic walks, and a lively local pub.

Only one thing, which I should have avoided: walking from our room to the spa in dressing gown in Jan was bracing!

good breakfast, good choices for dinner, v pleasant spa

Everything worked. Our room was spacious, clean and comfortable. The food was delicious and staff really helpful. The pool was a good temperature and the facilities at the pool really good and relaxing. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay

Unfortunately we had terrible rain and the buildings are all a short walk outside but the hotel supplied plenty of umbrellas.

    9RebeccaPosted on: 1-12-2026

The spa facilities are excellent, the food in the restaurant is outstanding and the staff are very friendly and professional. Could not fault anything.

    Beautiful setting and very comfortable

It was a bit of a long walk for my mother in the dark to and from the main hotel as she is disabled.

Beautiful house decorated for Christmas Food was fantastic Spa was great

We had a problem with no heating or hot water for a few hours on arrival but hotel gave us complimentary drinks to compensate

A wonderful place with great staff and magnificent food. Our guests all said it was the best meal they had eaten out for years and they loved the whole place.

We had dinner for 6 of us and perfectly reasonably tis was not in the main restaurant. It was in one of the sitting rooms which was a perfect place to dine. However, the table needs to be set with proper dining chairs as the lounge chairs are just not suitable for comfortable eating. In addition, the wine lit offered some ‘seasonal wines’ but most were not available- so why not remove them from the list? Furthermore, we orders a lovely bottle of Valpolicella Ripasso (which was as good as expected) but when we tried to get other one they said they had run out! How does a hotel of this size and quality allow their stock to be so poorly managed?

Amazing place all round (very special going there at this time of the year, as the lights and general look made it very special). The rooms are amazing …… great comfort, facilities and the spa is wonderful all round. The staff are great, and the restaurant is wonderful too.

I won’t complain for the sake of it……there was nothing you could say really. We missed out getting treatments at the spa, but that was down to us not booking early enough. So no complaints actually

Beautiful place Lovely staff Stunning room with real fire - def worth upgrading Nice that after checkout you can stay at the spa until 2pm We then walked along the beach Also it was decorated so nicely for Christmas

Not a thing I think offers should be for people returning like a loyalty scheme

This is one of the best Hotels I have stayed in

Nothing the Hotel and Spa are out of this world and the staff are so friendly and helpful. The food is also excellent
