About
Nestled in the Cambrian Mountains in the heart of Tregaron, Y Talbot is a welcoming and award-winning hotel, restaurant and pub full of Welsh charm, roaring fires and some of the best food in the region. Head Chef Dafydd Watkin has cooked with Marco Pierre White and now cooks the food he wants to eat – comforting, confident, and dangerously moreish. His cheesecake? Local legend. We’re proud to be fully accessible, with step-free entrances, a ground-floor accessible bedroom, and thoughtful touches throughout. Families are welcome, dogs are fussed over, and muddy boots are part of the dress code. Our smooth tarmac car park, secure bike storage and drying room make us an ideal stop for motorcyclists and cyclists, while walkers and anglers love the peaceful location, local trails and full Welsh breakfast that follows. Whether you’re here for a quiet break, an outdoor adventure or simply want a good meal with a warm welcome, we promise you’ll leave with a full belly and a smile. Our staff know your name (and your dog’s), and our bar is often the start of stories you’ll retell for years. Real Wales, real food, real hospitality.

Pros +
- Convenient for our travels
- Extremely friendly staff and a very nice room too. Food was great as well - lovely breakfast and evening meals very tasty.
- A friendly helpful welcome, warm fire and Welsh whisky an ideal retreat on a wild wet weekend at the start of spring.
Cons -
- Room very cold when we arrived. To not easy to work. Was not given a welcome pack for dog but still charged the full 30pounds. Washed floors down in the morning early when they could see my husband had mobility issues. They could have waited for him to have his breakfast and leave. It was 8.30am
- I’m not sure if the room was supposed to be serviced on a 2 night stay but it wasn’t . Not an issue as we are fairly tidy anyway and there was enough tea and coffee to keep us going.
- I booked online and selected a double room with single beds.Room was too small and offered few refinements: s poor choice on my part. The ensuite shower was adequate but the extractor fan failed to live up to expectations so condensation was an issue.

Breakfast and dinner both excellent. Clean comfy room. Amazing shower!!! Slept well. Friendly staff. Will definitely stay again.
We had a wonderful stay. The accommodation was superb — comfortable, clean, and very well maintained. The staff were friendly and the open fires- amazing at this time of the year. The food was outstanding, and the breakfast was excellent. We would happily stay here again and highly recommend this hotel.
Excellent breakfast and very good choice of options for dinner, All beautifully presented and cooked.I booked

We liked the room, the restaurant, the breakfast, everything. Furthermore, the staff is welcoming and kind.
Great location, clean and friendly staff.
Room booking didn’t take into account pet and additional costs were incurred.
Fabulous hotel, it was our second stay here can’t fault it staff are lovely very helpful, we stayed in the penthouse this time and the updated rooms are worth that little bit extra. It’s a great location.
Can’t think of anything not to like!
Great hotel with wonderful staff. Good sized en suite room overlooking the town centre. Very comfortable bed and good range of tea/coffee and biscuits. Parking at the rear for 5 to 6 cars and on street parking straightforward. The Talbot is clean and tidy with two bars and guest dining room plus other areas. Our (NYE) dinner was excellent!
We liked everything about The Talbot and will consider staying there again.
Lovely hotel., Very comfortable. Spotless rooms, Very welcoming staff.& the Breakfast was outstanding!Would definitely recommend!
I can't think of anything that could be improved on.
Right in the heart of Tregaron. Plenty of parking outside. Warm welcome. Quiet room and comfortable bed. Delicious bag of biscuits and high quality teas, coffees both decaff and caffinated. Plenty of sachets of milk too.Breakfast in the morning was the best. Delicious local sausages and thick back bacon. Scrambled egg as it should be. I will definately be back and bring friends too.
Excellent staff, Michael on reception and Chris on bar duty. Brothers I even got to meet their mum Christine. Excellent atmosphere in the bar. Hotel beautifully apponinted. Even saw the room where they used to host live music including some big names,
Central Location.Easy Parking,Freindly Staff,Good Food.Recommended...
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Y Talbot. We were greeted with a warm welcome on arrival and the staff were all helpful and friendly. A special mention for Carys who was learning new skills in the restaurant. She interacted with us well despite being a little nervous and it was wonderful to see the encouragement and support she was getting from Tracey and the team. Our room and the ensuite were both spacious, spotless and very comfortable. There were no issues with parking (right outside the front of the hotel) and the food was great. Would definitely stay at Y Talbot again.
Clean and very comfortable. Rooms are a very high standard with exceptional shower. The bar area and restaurant were great too. This was our second visit to the Y Talbot and will visit again. The owner Tracy is very welcoming and helpful. Her staff especially Joshua and Bleddyn are a credit to her and the Hotel.Fantastic visit, thank you
Staff were so welcoming. I was traveling alone which is always a bit scary but they made me feel very looked after. Food was great, rooms big and clean and a comfy bed. I wouldn't have changed a thing
Staff are fantastic, absolutely brilliant.Pub is lovely and the grounds are beautiful.
