    • We were in Scotland for 2 weeks. We stayed at 10 different hotels during our stay. This was by far our favorite. The staff was outstanding, especially john Paul. They were very helpful in planning the rest of our itinerary. GREAT staff and people.
    • The location was lovely We are in the bar and it was delicious but over priced The room was nine, clean and comfy but very outdated especially the bathroom
    • Great location, tranquility and peace. Beautiful property with the old features of the mill and displays of history. Cons -

    • The room was a bit tired especially the bathroom Very dated
    • In need of some attention in areas. Bedroom has clearly been recently decorated but the bathroom not touched in years and so was a disappointment. I’m sure it will be done as part of the ongoing refurb but there are things that could be done now with little effort or outlay to improve the bathroom (even if a temporary measure). No bath as we were told it would have when we booked. Broken splashback tiles ( really no excuse for this - it would be so easy and cheap to remove and replace them, even with plain white ones as a temporary measure) , no shelf to put toothbrushes or toiletries on (although the brackets from and old shelf are still in the wall), toilet seat doesn’t stay up, pump tops don’t fit on any of the bottles and are just resting, painted so hurriedly that the fittings are covered tooWould have also appreciated some decaf coffee the hotel doesn’t have any either in the room or breakfast area

Good location for visiting the areaExcellent cooked breakfast cooked to order, nice and hot Comfy bar areaLovely helpfully staff, all friendly, and Jeanette sorted our room problem out for us

Bathroom ceiling full of black mould, and room smelt of mould.asked and we were given a different room I have never heard a shower as loud as in room 9, I just hoped they were up in next room at 7am when I switched it on !!! No handrail over bath, luckily dad was in a nearby room so hubbie could use his walk in shower. No tumbler in bathroom,if you touched the towel rail it fell off the wall, minor bits, but need attention By the 3rd morning 10 people in breakfast room, 5 boxes of cereal left, when asked for more cornflakes told no more cereals left !!??

The staff were very friendly and helpful. Food was beautiful and great value for money

The hairdryer was unreliable and could definitely do with a little update.

A lot of mold in the bathroom, tired equipment

incredible lady running the show. the same lady checked us in, walked us to our room, served breakfast and checked us out. all while keeping the high spirits and the biggest friendliest smile. truly incredible person!

needs maintenance. little details like a hole in the floor (room 14), cracked light in the bathroom, ceiling paint peeling showing wood, above neighbors running tap dancing class (noisy)… other than that good value for money, no high expectations

    9IainPosted on: 8-31-2023

Friendly and attentive staff, good food. Clean and tidy through out, good value for money. Good off road parking and would definitely stay again in the future and would recommend to family and friends.

Staff were extremely friendly and welcoming. The lady working in the restaurant for breakfast (sorry, didn't catch her name!) was wonderful and worked so hard for the guests.

Review for room 9. We had awful sleep with a horrid bed. It was a double and single bed base pushed together with two double spring mattresses on top. Due to the mattress overhang it provided little support and we both left with aches and pains. The shower was the noisiest shower I think I've ever heard! You had to turn the shower on, then press a button for water to run. The shock of the noise when one was sleeping was horrid! Would have been useful for staff to have told us about this. The walls are paper thin, so if you enjoy listening to conversations from 3 rooms down, this is the hotel for you!Kettle in the room had water in when we checked in, so clearly hadn't been cleaned.Room photos on the website are for the suite rooms and not standard rooms.

Great food - both breakfast and dinner! Old but nice place with very helpful staff.

    8WilmaPosted on: 8-28-2023

Extremely friendly and helpful staff (all female!). Warm welcome, and clean comfortable room, varied menus and plenty choice. Reasonable prices too. The young ladies who served in the bar and dining room were very chatty and nothing was too much trouble for them. Same goes for the lady who served the breakfast. After 4 nights, we still didn’t manage to get any of their names, they didn’t offer and we didn’t ask!!

Only negative comment - and it is a small one - the shower was over the bath, which was a bit high for us. We are in our 70s, and, although we managed to get into the bath with a little time and care, there was no safety mat or grab rail. Our friends, in the next door room, had a beautiful, shower cubicle, but again, no safety mat or grab rail. There were also no tumblers or glasses in the bathroom. Otherwise, we have no complaints

The location of the hotel was suitable for an event we were attending the following day. Also being dog friendly we were able to take out pet.The evening meal and breakfast were very good and plentiful.
