- Location fantastic. Spa wonderful. Our room was very nice and restaurants were great. Staff at Walters on the Beach amazing. Cocktails fabulous.
- We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at The Pods, the staff at The Carbis Bay Hotel were extremely welcoming and helpful from check in right through to check out. The Pod itself was beautiful and well equipped, with lots of extra goodies on arrival which was a lovely touch. The location itself was lovely and so peaceful, it was the perfect place for a relaxing family gathering for a special birthday. We couldn't recommend enough and look forward to returning again in the near future!
- This was a last minute booking as I was in the area and needed a place to say. Little did I know I discovered a hidden gem.! Absolutely stunning spa overlooking the sea, amazing food in top quality restaurant, and the room was beautiful especially the views. Cannot wait to come back.
Cons -
- Nothing everything greta.
- The pods were ages away from the main complex. Parking was a nightmare at the main building.
- Lack of a fire and bar in the downstairs area

Stunning, private and modern
The pods were ages away from the main complex. Parking was a nightmare at the main building.
The location, the fab food and the cocktails.
Lack of a fire and bar in the downstairs area
The breakfast was excellent but on the second day there was a very long delay between the delivery of the cereal and the delivery of the cooked food, almost an hour in fact!
A very limited range of vegetarian options for my partner in the Beach Club restaurant.
The hotel was beautiful and the facilities
The room was looking tired - the window sill needed repainting and the cushions on the bed were a little soiled (needed a clean) one day our room was not cleaned. However the view over the sea was stunning and the hotel staff were lovely. One night a man was very aggressive in one of the rooms on our floor and was slamming doors and swearing at staff - he should have been asked to leave - we felt sorry for the staff dealing with him.
The pod was beautiful and so cosy. We had a lovely hot tub, fire, sauna and cold plunge and didn’t see a single other person while we were there. The hotel made sure we had everything we needed and the concierge is fantastic. Nothing is too much trouble for them even though you are a drive away.
The pods were a lot further away from the main hotel than was advertised but still beautiful. It is a 9 minute drive to the main hotel. It isn’t something that could be walked.
The pod was amazing with everything we needed and lots more beside. Lovely to have fresh supplies in the fridge and all locally sourced which we appreciated. Our pod had a great deck and the hot tub and outdoor stove were wonderful for the bright, clear evening we were lucky enough to have when we visited. Inside the pod was super comfy and felt more like we were in a posh apartment rather than 'glamping'. It was a lovely place for a night away. All the staff we spoke with were great.
I wouldn't say we didn't like it but the location might be a bit disappointing for some (we live fairly locally so knew the area where the pods are). If you are expecting lovely beach views and coast to walk along or complete isolation in your pod then this is not for you. The pods are inland by a couple of miles and quite close together on a site in a small rural area. A great base to explore Cornwall from and lovely accommodation to come back to at the end of the day but you need to drive to do anything - there are not cafes, bars etc to walk to from the site.
The location is absolutely beautiful! The nature and beach are wonderful, and you truly forget that you're in the UK.
The property wasn't super well-maintained and seemed tired. The pool/spa area was extremely busy as there were a lot of day-pass guests visiting at the end of summer when we were there — it's not just exclusive for guests. Not great value in any way, staff aren't super well trained, and many parts of the hotel don't feel very premium. Unfortunately, nothing really felt luxurious in any way, and we expected more for the price.
Beautiful pods with nice facilities though it wasn't made clear on the booking how far away they would be
The restaurant food was terrible - no flavour, cold, reheated and massively overpriced. The whole experience in the orangery was pretty terrible
The staff of this hotel is amazing. We had an issue with our room on check-in. We had booked a junior suite but instead were initially put in a room with only 2 to 4 feet of space around the bed on each side and a small vertical window. Additionally, there was a dirty towel in the sink and signs that the toilet had already been used indicated that someone had already been in the room.Upon presenting the situation to the Staff day they stated our room had been sold out, so they upgraded us to a suite located just below the hotel on the beach, which was actually a step above the room we had booked. The gentleman who made this adjustment was very courteous and accommodating, and obviously was empowered by management to make this type of decision. This is a prime example of turning a mistake into an exceptional experience for the guest. Well done!

Stunning location.Fabulous breakfastGreat pool facilities
Access to the pool through breakfast roomInformation on closure of dining room not readily availableUnable to turn balcony lights off at night
Nice location.
Very poor lighting at night from the restaurant, up the stairs to the hotel. There was zero lights on! I had to use my phone torch but I dread to think what I would have done if the battery had died. I also felt a restaurant should be in the main building.
Beachfront location, beautiful bay
Honeymoon stay. Room description and photos misleading. Booked a “Junior Suite with Sea View”, received a small basic room, nothing like the photos. Staff offered to switch rooms but only after the first night due to availability. Really put a dampener on the start of our honeymoon.
Walter’s food and service were exceptional. Staff were brilliant, polite and knowledgable. Great setting.
Control of disrespectful people allowing large dogs to sit on tables where people will eat (outside). A little control would be good. I will not be sitting at tables outside!!
Luxurious property in a beautiful setting that lives up to the hype. Excellent location right on the beach and a short walk into St Ives town.Very friendly and helpful staff (other than at breakast).Great choice of bars and restaurants. Dinner in the orangery was delicious.Excellent spa facilities.
Breakfast was absolutely awful - really surprising for a hotel of this standard- cheap, poorly cooked food and below par service. Totally different to the experience at dinner time.We found it odd that the room didn't have a mini bar - tbh it probably saved us several ££ but would normally expect that in a 5* property.
We stayed at Octopussy away from the main hotel but the Carbis Bay staff called us regularly to check if we needed anything and made us feel very connected and welcome. Spectacular view over Porthmeor Beach. Well equipped, comfortable and cosy. Quiet (apart from the glorious sound of waves) and secure. Perfect location, giving the beach experience literally beneath you and a short, winding walk into the harbour and all fabulous restaurants, pubs and shops. We loved Ardor restaurant but book ahead. Just a stones throw from the Tate; a truly iconic building housing interesting art and sculptures, including Barbara Hepworth collections and a great cafe on the top which you can got to without seeing the art.
A larger bed and more modern bathroom would have made this perfect. Car parking space underneath was tricky for us to use with a large car but we were able to use the car park at the top of the road.
Breakfast, location & dining options.
Apart from the weather and the number of stairs, it was great
