- Location was so peaceful and tranquil, lovely green surroundings and accessible walks. We stayed in one of the dog friendly houses, facilities were good, a closed off bedroom, fully functional kitchen, adequate seating, large comfortable bed.The staff were amazing, all so friendly! Breakfast was exceptional, lots of healthy options to choose from and cooked to perfection. The pub is a 2 minute walk, great food and lovely staff there too.

- As we were in the dog friendly house the furniture wasn't the nicest but that is to be excepted and I was quite grateful.
- The room was amazing fantastic size it just wasn’t quite as clean as it should have been, cobwebs etc but still really nice and would go back.

The food was delicious and all freshly cooked.. The hotel is in a stunning location of Somerset, surrounded by beautiful countryside, completely on its own.. The staff are helpful, polite and happy in their work...and told us some amazing history of the hotel..
Such friendly staff who completely go out of their way to make your stay an enjoyable experience, and a cosy space with the wood panels rooms and open log fires. Great food on offer too if you choose to eat there.
Nothing really that I didn't like

What a wonderful hotel! It's about 500 years old but has been very well kept. Everything is in beautiful shape with the old wood paneling shining and a cozy fire in the fireplace. Our room was large and very clean with a gorgeous view out the window. The staff were all very helpful and they have a good secure place to keep bicycles overnight.
We have no complaints at all!

I cannot speak highly enough of this wonderful place to stay in the heart of Exmoor. Shabby chic, charming, and expertly run. Andrew had boundless energy and is a font of knowledge and good local tips. The Whiskies are amazing with some rare and vintage gems. A 1970s Bruichladdich is one of the jewels in Andrews liquid crown. My room had a view up the Barle valley which was amazing to lie back at night and stare along. And the walk along there to Exford and Withypool is glorious. I wish I'd stayed longer. Or just got a job there and remained. Andrew is a natural and his team do him proud.
I didn't like leaving. Leaving got a 1 out of 10 from me. But the walk back across the moor lifted my heavy heart.
The rooms were big, the food was excellent, we ate both breakfast and in the evening,Walks around the valley go in different direction's, all beautiful. The hosts were perfect, even helping us a couple of hours after check out.We will definitely return. Thanks
The property is very welcoming, and is perfectly located for walks and other tourist attractions. It’s history can be seen as soon as you arrive. All the staff are extremely friendly and knowledgeable of the area for walks and places to visit.
Absolutely nothing, this hotel is one of the nicest places we’ve stayed at. 100% staying again.
