Pros +
- Beautiful venue, masterfully renovated castle. Dinner was stellar and staff and the room exceeded our expectations. A very worthwhile experience for a special occasion or if you want to spoil yourself and feel like kings and queens!
- Excellent food, accommodation and staff
- Amazing hotel in renovated ancient castle right on the shore. Fabulous room, excellent food.
Cons -
- Didn't stay long enough.
- Nothing. Might not be suitable for the elderly or disabled, given the stairs, but it's a castle and I'm sure that aspect is well covered in their description.

Excellent food, accommodation and staff
Amazing hotel in renovated ancient castle right on the shore. Fabulous room, excellent food.
Didn't stay long enough.
This is a WOW place. No question. It was a 'long and windy road' to get there but I think that's the norm. Most amazing places aren't on the beaten path and that feels right. If you stay you will love the transformation to what exists today. There is a quiet and refined elegance here that is rare. Of all the places we stayed in Scotland, this was the most memorable. The staff are very accommodating, the food is worth a trip in itself, the location is stunning. It's not cheap but it shouldn't be. You are paying for an experience, not a hotel stay. Whoever you are, you will not be disappointed.

Fantastic setting, the menu has matured over the last 2 years and is now becoming innovative but remains true to its Scottish roots. Lovely staff who couldn't be more helpful. The hotel is well maintained and feels refined but also glamorous. It's not dwarfed by the setting..
The food was brilliant - the 5 course dinner was one of the best meals we have ever had . The breakfast was also superb. The staff were excellent and very friendly. Nothing to fault at all.
Thé location is amazing, 13th century castle perched on a cliff top almost at the end of the Ardnamurchan peninsula. Not easy to reach but worth it!The food is exceptional, matching the best we’ve eaten anywhere and the staff are lovely
The weather
Dinner was incredible. Book the 8 course and thank me later. Great wine list and fairly priced spirits.
The only thing I would request is with the bed. The linens were very comfortable and the bed itself fit the room perfectly. The mattress felt…a bit past it’s prime and we rolled into each other all evening.
Beautifully restored castle in a remote quiet area yet close to ferry access. Staff was welcoming and attentive to every detail. The rooms with the views and amenities will knock your socks off! We had the 8 course menu and it was a delicious experience! Over and above expectations!!
Once in a lifetime experience. The location, castle and food are incredible
The room was outstanding. Still can't get over the bathroom, the copper bath in particular!! Staff were brilliant, especially the one who checked me in. Would 100% stay again if in the area.
Stunning location, castle and facilities. Staff were phenomenal. Food was excellent! 8-course and wine pairing, 5-course and breakfast were all culinary masterpieces. Bedroom was nicely furnished, cozy and comfortable. Castle is located very near Kilchoan pier so for ferry and tours to Staffa Island it was perfect. It was certainly the highlight of our trip to Scotland.
The only thing was the shower in our room… difficult to figure out and find the right setting for hot water.
2 nights of indulging ourselves with great views of Mull from atop this fantastic old castle. Nothing to fault. Great staff lead by hosts Jess and Colin. Awesome food, great beds and bathrooms. Thanks guys.
It was great to stay in such a unique and special place. The castle has been restored and decorated beautifully From the moment we arrived we were given such a great welcome and throughout our stay the service was great. The food was exceptional we tried the 5 and 8 course menus during our stay both were sublime. Thank you Jessica and Colin for a wonderful stay
Nothing !!!
One of the most welcoming hotels I've ever stayed in. It is a beautifully restored medieval castle in a truly awe-inspiring location. The food was amazing.
Beautiful, peaceful location! Excellent food and attentiveness. Very comfortable beds and room overall.
Food was amazing and the chef catered for my gluten free dietary requirements. Staff were really friendly and helpful.
The drive to the castle was difficult with the single lane road.
It is hard to put into words how special the experience at Mingary Castle is. The location is magnificent and Jess and Colin make the perfect hospitality partnership. The food is imaginative yet classically brilliant and cooked to perfection. We enjoyed a truly magical 3 days here a d can't recommend it highly enough.
Nothing. It was perfect!
Fantastically well restored castle in a beautiful setting, with a very comfortable and characterful bedroom, lounge and dinning room. The food was outstanding
Beautiful location, unique accomodation within castle walls, attentive and professional staff and the most amazing food and service at the restaurant prepared by an extremely talented chef.
