Pros +
- Private parking good, clean and tidy. Nice friendly staff. Breakfast tasty.
- This is a lovely friendly local pub, with fantastic food, lovely clean rooms and great friendly staff
- Staff were wonderful; very friendly and helpful and really made us feel welcome. The food was absolutely delicious and great value for money and the room was comfortable and clean
Cons -
- Pillows very hard. Shower ran hot and then cold during my shower so was not that enjoyable. Biscuits would have been nice extra to have with a cuppa.
- The bathroom door didn’t shut properly and there was a strange aroma from the carpets on the landing. It would have also been great if they had non- dairy milk.
- Shower tray tiny and mouldy. Absolutely NOWHERE to put anything. No shelves. No hooks (one). No storage. We had to put our belongings all over the floor in the bathroom!! Shelves and hooks are not rocket science. The owners obviously have NEVER spent a night in their own premises with two suitcases and the clothes and toiletries that visitors ALWAYS have. We would not visit again.

Had a really great stay at this hotel. The staff were genuinely friendly and helpful without being over the top, which made the whole experience feel easy and relaxed. The room was clean, comfortable, and had everything I needed. The bed was super cozy, and it was nice to come back to a quiet space after a long day out. You can tell they pay attention to the little details. One definite highlight was the on-site steakhouse—absolutely fantastic. The food was top quality, cooked perfectly, and the service there was just as good as the rest of the hotel. All in all, I’d happily stay here again and would definitely recommend it. It just made the trip that little bit better.

Loved everything so much we are viewing a house in the town today. Everything was spotless and the staff and fellow pub goers were lovely.
Nothing to dislike
Excellent steaks, great friendly service, clean and tidy. Well stocked bar. Room clean and adequate for price.
Love this homely hotel. Breakfast very good - needed an early 'vegetarian' at short notice. Chef kindly obliged. Comfortable room. Used hotel for business several times now but would definitely return for pleasure (local area is a walking nirvana).
nothing apart from the wifi which we used to book alternative accommodation in Hay on Wye - stayed about a hour then left - did not stay - so did not have the breakfast
room was cold, dismal and not well appointed - shower/bathroom grubby - no desk chair - just a overall unkempt appearance
staff couldn't be nicerfood and location excellent
Room was a tad basic with some minor maintenance issues.
Breakfast was excellent.
Car Park gates being closed when I arrived. Limited parking but there was room for my car.
Very friendly staff. Freshly cooked breakfast.
Room a little on the small side.
Good breakfast
No chef on arrival day so no food
Location, breakfast was good, free parking just outside the pub
It’s a bar which is busy on a Saturday night, this wasnt a problem for us at all but worth others knowing it was loud until about 1230am
The breakfast could have been better; the sausage and black pudding were pretty poor quality and the fried egg was overdone.
A number of items on the evening menu were not available but that only became clear when we ordered. That was a bit annoying.
The room was clean, the bed fairly comfortable. There were opening windows on 2 sides so we were able to keep cool. There was a walk in shower. We ate in the restaurant 1 night & the food was good & reasonably priced.
The shower needed a good clean, a lot of black mould on the frame & the wall above. Although Kington is a quiet little town The Swan is next to the road which was busy from very early morning & we found it noisy. There was no offer of help with our bags even though we’re both 70+ & my husband walks with the aid of arm crutches. The breakfast wasn’t up to the standard of the evening meal we had - bacon & egg floating in oil, instant coffee in a cafetière.
staff friendly and also helpful.
accomodation was tired .....carpets need cleaning.....instant coffee served at breakfast was in a cafetiere to make out it was real coffee....lipstick on glasses....very cheap ingredients at breakfast.
Friendliness of staff. Food.
Shower could be updated
The very friendly and helpful staff. A very good base to explore more of the area. The food was great and as the restaurant is closed on a Sunday evening they let us bring in a takeaway meal and eat in in the restaurant.
Nothing that would stop us visiting again, the only slight concerns were that our room was looking a little tired and could be improved with a paint freshen up, supplying a long mirror and perhaps another bedside table.
