Pros +
- We really enjoyed the cooked breakfast. It was piping hot, very tasty and well presented. The sausages were particularly good quality from a local butcher in Cockermouth - so good in fact that I bought some to take home.
- Staff were great and very helpful, rooms were nice and comfortable, water was actually hot and the shower was really good too.Food was amazing and fresh cooked veg tasted great.
- Wonderful quiet location with mountain views and open country all around it. A warm welcome, good food and drinks available. Comfortable rooms with quality beds and linen. Nice freshly cooked breakfast too.
Cons -
- The room was comfortable but a little dated and there weren't any pictures on the wall. The toilet was difficult to flush but didn't present a problem.
- Nothing to not like my stay was great

The staff were welcoming, as ever. The breakfast was fine.
I have previously stayed in a disabled room at Hundith Hill which had adequate electric outlets, but this room only had one. There was a double bed and a single one but with only one outlet I do not know how people manage.
Staff were friendly when we arrived. Managed to get parked straight away.
Rooms were outdated. It's quite a small hotel. There was a function going on with loud music till 12 midnight, which was like trying to sleep above a disco. Not good for our tranquil relaxing getaway. We didn't get any sleep till after 1am. Breakfast wasn't the best, standard, my son didn't enjoy his, and not much for continental choice.
It was absolutely amazing. Mesmerising views, well trained staff, clean room, ample parking, friendly horses, toiletries available, onsite food available but a little expensive
Very quiet location, set in its own grounds but still handy for exploring the northern part of the Lakes.Booked the Deluxe twin room which was a great choice. The food was excellent only surpassed by the service.
Spending only one night there.
Location, staff and food was all very good
Maybe it could be described as a little tiered but never the lees clean and functional.
Staff were really good; polite, professional and extremely pleasant. Food is exceptional (book for Dinner, it’s worth it) the whole place is so well kept both internally and externally and then you also have the beautiful Lake District views! Can’t recommend enough
I found nothing to dislike!
Lovely Hotel right in the middle of stunning countryside. Perfect location. Lovely staff. Can’t wait to go back b
Staff were really attentive, nothing was any trouble. The food was lovely, especially the vegetable soup and breakfast.
Very private, with nice surroundings and impressive main hotel building. We had a meal in the bar and the food was very good.
We booked a large room with a balcony. What we didn’t know was the room was seperate to the main hotel with no covered access to the hotel. Unfortunately the weather was unkind and raining heavily with strong winds. We opted not to have the breakfast we had paid for due to the weather. An umbrella was available in the room.
Friendly staff, easy check in, free parking, clean, 5 mins from town
Bed was uncomfortable, thin pillows with no spares, house keeping very very noisy at 9:30am no chance of a lie in, difficult to park at night, breakfast only served until 9:30 food very expensive, bar expensive (8 shots and 2 lemonades £36) shower either freezing or burnt you and very small, bashed my arms and head trying to get clean
Location was superb. Lovely and clean. Food (breakfast) was exceptional
It was clean and had everything you need.
It was quite expensive especially as the outside rooms didn’t seem very special.
The location and the lady who greeted me at reception was lovely.
The noise. I was kept awake with banging doors and people shouting. The breakfast was expensive and someone was standing chatting in the doorway to the kitchen and they were coughing and spluttering. It put me off. The breakfast was also pretty average ingredients and the lady who served me was a bit abrupt. Not intentionally but just didn’t have much decorum. For a beautiful building in a beautiful location I was really disappointed
Very good breakfast served timeously and good portions
Noisy room but staff moved me and made financial adjustments to bill..were very helpful and understanding
Nice building
Upgraded to luxury room definitely wasn’t luxury , no accessible charging points, smallest possible very poor tv (intermittently stuck on channel) no biscuits, bath but no bubbles, window right next to floodlights and some sort of machine whirring away all night. Minimalist cooked breakfast no offer of sauces or even jam/marmalade for toast! Not once asked if everything ok.
Lovely location, hotel and grounds were wonderful. Excellent food with good choices: breakfasts, dinner in dining room and also bar food. Staff were very friendly and helpful.
Beautiful location and lovely hotel with friendly staff. Breakfast was very nice too.
Bed was ok, not as comfy as a premier inn beds. Would be nice to have the option of a super king size bed. A smart tv would have been good so we could access our Netflix/Disney accounts.
