    Pros +

    • Enjoyed the location, completely out the way situated on the A68, no noise in the room and although the bed creaked, had the best 3 nights sleep in such a long time. Bar / Cafe below the room with really nice owners which gave a very warm welcome and easy to talk to, had a couple of beers with them and was left in awe of how much they have achieved!
    • Friendly staff, loved talking with Bennie, Melody and the other ladies. They knew a lot about the area and were happy to share information. The hotel was quite near the place we were visiting.
    • The warm welcome of the hosts and how accommodating they were to our requests

    Cons -

    • Getting out of bed!
    • Stairs can be a challenge for older people, but the staff attended to our bags which helped
    • couple of nicks in the bath.

Comfy bed, nice and quiet, excellent shower, clean bathroom. This place may look a bit unappealing from the outside but it's amazing value for money. I was delighted at how well I slept.

Had a little trouble controlling the heating, which was too hot for me - but the staff were very helpful in resolving this.

Good large room with settee and double bed. Very comfy. Dinner was inexpensive.

There were limited options for dinner with very little vegatables with them

Excellent friendly staff, very clean, comfortable beds. Fabulous breakfast.

No heating in rooms at the time we stayed. Would have been nice for a small heater if central heating not on.

From the minute we arrived the staff could not do enough for us. My husband is in a wheelchair and they did everything they could to make the hotel as accessible as possible. The food was lovely and plenty of it. Would definitely stay here again.

    Nice little bar

First look as pulling into the car park was outdated unkept but inside is a lovely little bar and lovely staff

    9JackiePosted on: 8-31-2024

The outside was a little off putting as it needs a lick of paint but there's a large car park which is really handy. Surprisingly there was a communal fridge and microwave which was great for our freezer packs. Wonderful views over the surrounding countryside. Room was clean and comfortable.

The location and the staff are super friendly!

The bathroom had a bit of black mould on the ceiling

Location great for cycling Waskerley Way (part of Coast to Coast NCR 7) which is also a walking path. Good for Lanchester Roman Fort and industrial archeology.

    Nothing.All good.

We have stayed here occasionally for many years but it is never our first choice however there was little else available. The staff are really nice and Sunday lunch is always great.

I thought it was overpriced as I wrongly assumed breakfast was included when it was not. If I had known I would have not paid as I don't eat a full breakfast and my wife is vegetarian. The wall light switches did not work although I forgot to mention it. I just think it needs to be more competitive and also my wife as a vegetarian could only pick chips for her evening meal. I feel a bit mean posting this as staff are really lovely

    9RichardPosted on: 7-19-2024

Great food and really great staff clean and very well presented rooms

    10IanPosted on: 7-18-2024

Staff were very friendly and the room was very nice. The bed was comfortable and the room was clean.

Not really a complaint but I could hear everything going on in the corridor outside the room which is why I’ve not recommended the hotel for a romantic stay.
