    Pros +

    • The Tresanton is a very individual and stylish hotel arranged over three levels. Everywhere is beautifully designed and comfortable. Wonderful views on the dining terrace as we ate our breakfast over the harbour. Our bedroom had a great sea view and was extremely comfortable.
    • We were made to feel very welcome Hotel staff very professional and friendlyRoom was lovely
    • Lovely, clean with an attentive friendly staff. St Mawes is a sweet Cornish location for a special holiday.

    Cons -

    • Nothing to dislike
    • Both of us found the mattress too hard - but that is of course down to personal preference. Missed having a fridge for milk etc
    • Menu a little boring , heavy on fish which is not my favorite.

Hotel was perfect, staff very friendly. Our room was very clean and spacious with a great view of the sea. The food was amazing!

The location and everything about the hotel was amazing. The food was exceptional and beautifully presented.

Work was being done on a new patio which will have wonderful views of the bay, but sadly was unfinished on our visit.

Unique, quirky, comfortable, lots of small zones perfectly blending into each other

Quite a bit of building work but that’s ok - the builders were really friendly

Beautifully kept and spotlessly clean. Very good evening meal and breakfast both days.

Would have preferred to have the car parked on site but understand why this is not possible. Would lave liked a small fridge in the bedroom to keep fresh milk in. Thought the service charge was excessive.

Wonderful sea view from our room. Comfortable, warm, clean and tastefully furnished. Lovely lounge with roaring log fire which we enjoyed with a coffee while awaiting our room key. Attractive restaurant, excellent food and helpful staff.

Quite an uneven walk (unfortunately in pouring rain) from the main building to our room. Access to the room was via an external spiral staircase. Obviously not suitable for anyone with mobility issues. Although umbrellas are provided it was difficult to use these on the route due to the narrow walkway, extensive greenery etc.

Everything. The location was superb and was made full use of. Breakfast and evening meals on the terrace overlooking the blue sea was relaxed and a highlight of our stay. All the staff we encountered were similarly friendly and relaxed.

it was a shame the two rooms we were given were not near each other, but this had no impact on our overall enjoyment.

Quirky and comfortable, plus well sized rooms. The restaurant was too pretty and convenient to walk past - we had breakfast and a couple of lunches there. Great neighbourhood for cafes and shopping, with leafy streets to walk in if you want to avoid the Portobello Road hubbub.

Some of the restaurant staff are a bit junior and get overwhelmed. Customers should be nice!

Beautiful hotel in an extremely beautiful part of the country. This deceivingly small hotel, which isn't that small one, you get up the steps from the main road is a hidden gem. The hotel manager Karen is a delight to deal with and converse with as are an array of staff, particularly Talin the chap who works the restaurant. Food is impeccable and can not be faulted, nor can its position within walking distance of everything.

    Bed too soft

    Great location service and food

Too many stairs if you have any mobility problems

    8ClairePosted on: 10-12-2023

Breakfast was excellent. A full choice of fresh fruit, pastries and cooked options were available. Being able to sit outside on the terrace enabled us to enjoy the fabulous view. All staff were very helpful and the hotel has its own car park. The sun loungers and coffee at the Beach Club.

More detailed information about the number of steps would be helpful for those with mobility issues or the option to request a room in the main building. It would be better if the dinner menu was made available before 6pm!

    Location was amazing!!

I thought my desert was over slightly burnt at dinner . I had to steer the waiter into taking us to the table for dinner.

Superb location. Our room (12) had a roof terrace overlooking the sea with lovely sun beds and table/chairs. Food was excellent but fairly limited choice- okay for us as we eat anything but could be restrictive for some. Menu changes daily which helps if you’re staying more than one night. Service in the restaurant was exemplary.

Drinks service was patchy- the first evening we waited a long while for drinks in the lounge. The second evening we were on the terrace and waited, seemingly invisible, for some time while a member of serving staff chatted to another table of four about their game of Trivial Pursuit! We then managed to catch the eye of another staff member and my husband ordered two drinks to save a further wait! Our room was comfortable and stylish but the bathroom needs some repairs - huge crack in the wash basin and several cracked floor tiles. The exterior paintwork needs some attention too. Minor points in the whole scheme of things and did not spoil our stay. The hotel atmosphere is calm and relaxing, it has a sort of Art Deco feel about it. But at the prices they charge it should really be perfect!
