Rated a 5-star inn by the AA, the 600-year-old Crown Inn combines traditional character with modern room luxuries, including flat-screen TVs and DVD players. On the village green in Chiddingfold, The Crown is within 20 minutes of Guildford's town center, and less than an hour from London. Awarded Great Britain’s Most Excellent Inn 2010 by Condé Nast Johansens, the friendly Crown Inn has luxury rooms with attached bathroom with original wooden beams. Some rooms have four-poster beds. The refurbished rooms have handmade beds, Egyptian cotton bed linen and private bathrooms with luxurious Noble Isle toiletries. A seasonal à la carte menu is served in the oak-paneled restaurant and there is also a bar menu. There is an extensive wine list and a selection of beers and spirits.

- The hotel is full of character and I enjoyed finding out about the history of the hotel in the village from the information provided in the room. The bedroom was comfy and clean, with all the essentials. Breakfast was nice, and relaxed as there were only a few guests that night.

Cons -
- I ate in the restaurant and was about to leave a tip when paying until I noticed that they had already added 12.5% to the entire bill, including drinks that I had earlier from the bar. I was disappointed that I was not asked of this..
- We would have liked the possibility of an early breakfast as we had to leave by 07.30 to get to Goodwood for a race meeting. We asked if a cold breakfast ( cereal, fruit etc) could be left for us. The manager agreed but nothing was left, so we departed hungry!!
