Cons -
- Everything lovely
- Head of bed was positioned below an old window, even with it shut there was a chill/breeze during the night. Sheets had several stains and carpet not in great condition, bathroom was clean. Front desk was often empty, had to give keys to kitchen during checkout.
- Unable to respond to any prearival request re early deposit of luggage and Seldom person on duty front desk and that person very limited understanding of English Made written request to and verbal query really understood promised Manager be in at certain time refer to him he will get back to me never happened so did not extend my stay found Belvilla way better value for money in service and location

Very good ? both for my Grandson and myself. And the two lovely ladies cooking and serving the breakfast ?
My stay with my Grandson, wasn't long enough sadly ? v
Room comfy, great location for Rodney Parade.
In process of being done up. Paint pots and tools in breakfast room with dangling wires.
Would not use again.
Had to ring to get someone to let us into the property. Dust, loose wires, ladders, dust sheets around property. Clearly some walls were being prepared for painting. Builder dust over every surface. Room was reasonable. One whole side of bathroom radiator covered in rust. Dust covered the entrance handle to room. Curtain not wide enough for window. WiFi to use the tv patchy and intermittently worked. Mould on the inside of the shower. When checking out we had to physically go looking for someone to check out. You can hear all the comings and going’s of others staying in the property. We could hear our neighbours tv, toileting habits and phone conversations through the wall.
After reading previous reviews, the room was nicer than I expected (Room 9 in main building 2nd floor) with a good shower, newish carpets and good facilities including (unexpectedly) a fridge & microwave!
Room was very hot despite it not really being a warm day.Had to leave the window open overnight to try and cool room down which meant it was VERY noisy (Saturday night) with local traffic and people.Parking was a tight squeeze but ok.
The staff were polite and helpful. The room was a good size and lovely and clean.
The blind in the room was damaged and the external lights shone into the room.
Beds were super comfy, place seems in the middle of renovation, not a hotel, it's all separate building divided in2 rooms
My mobility isn't great, no disabled shower, or shower seat in room. Shower also isn't wheelchair friendly,
Convenient situation, easy parking, accommodation clean though evidence of current renovation with bare wires visible.
Shower didn’t work - asked three times during two day stay - only fixed in time for day of departure. TV screen LCD display faulty
Location was good and the room was generally nice. It was spacious, modern and the En-suite was a nice touch. Staff were generally friendly.
Didn't have a hotel atmosphere. Work was being done at the hotel and there wasn't a strong welcome once I first entered.
Clean, rooms gd size, good breakfast
Our shower didn't work buy as we only stayed 1 night it wasn't a problem. We was given a code to get in the property if you came in after 10pm, we couldn't work out how to use it. Perhaps showing people would be beneficial
clean room , comfy bed, stayed there a few years ago and current owner is upgrading certain elements and it will look good when finished, oh and amazing free breakfast.
Maybe more milk in room.
The room was clean but a bit small for a double. It became cold in the night because the radiator was automatically or centrally turned off.
I didn't like the fact that the reception was not manned 24 hours. You have to ring a number in case of emergencies.
Bedrooms were clean and comfortable
The hotel was in the middle of a renovationDining room looked like a building siteTables covered in builders dustHotel will be lovely when renovations are difficult
There is an excellent level of service from the moment you check in. The breakfast is also excellent with food served hot and individualised needs met by the member of staff who prepares breakfast. There is a professional level of care throughout the stay and I would highly recommend an overnight stay. The cleaner is also very thorough and ensures hygiene standards are high which is especially important. There are some overused areas but the owners are working hard to renovate areas. Though there is minimal disruption to guests and every effort is made to ensure your stay is comfortable.
We have stayed at Gateway Hotel multiple times over the last few years. I can't think of anything I don't like. However, guests might like to know that the road is busy and can be noisy. If you are used to quiet locations then perhaps ask the hotel when you arrive for a quieter room. The hotel is spacious so they can locate you at the back of the building where the noise is significantly less.
Location suitable for our purpose. Bed comfortable.
Rooms not heated on a very cold dayExtensive refurbishment not completed - fittings missing, materials left in common partsTowels are small and only one bath towel in double roomFlimsy window blinds only on room windows and powerful outside lights on all night shining throughReception not manned continuously, no means of raising issuesNo TV control in one roomNo breakfast available (not booked, but we thought would be possible)
Great location with parking on site. Large room and en-suite which was exceptionally clean.
Being picky, an upgrade on the toilet paper would be good. It was very thin and not much on the roll.
Multiple problems with room: Drains in sink and shower not working properly, wifi speeds so low as to be unusable sometimes, wifi unprotected by entry code, (possible security issue?) unsuitable chairs, TV control not working, audible noise from road, nowhere to place travel cases, etc. Breakfast arrangements were not up to standard, and no proper reception or office yet developed.
see above. There was a large re-development program on stream when I arrived, and new equipment and furnishings were being installed. Most of the new stuff was good quality and well thought out, but I would recommend an experienced project manager be employed to supervise this transition. I chose this hotel at random, but it is situated in a rough part of town and I detected a threat level out on the street.
Cooked breakfast was nice and the staff were polite and nice. Our room in an adjacent building was nice and functional and suited our needs for our 1 night stay.
Refurbishment still ongoing and bags of plaster still around in dining room.Reception was already closed when we arrived at 6 pm.
