Pros +
- It’s position and we have been visiting there for many years
- Lovely room with view of the pool and the étang.
- Location was quiet
Cons -
- It’s tired in places and the evening menu was very very limited as opposed to last our last trip
- The gentleman that seems to run the hotel was not very welcoming nor communicative. Although it claims to offer a children's menu and cold snacks, in fact these are not available. As a family we were not able to eat at the hotel and had to drive to Limoges to find a restaurant. The owner offered no help after I sustained a head injury on an improperly deployed sun canopy. He just looked on as my head was bleeding profusely. This could be an excellent hotel if only the owner actually cared about, or was remotely interested in, his guests.
- On arriving parking is in a lay-by so that was terrible. On entering lady was nice but her husband was a total rude nightmare and I wish I would have read the many negative reviews about him and his odd and rude behaviour before booking. On arrival told only one started and either duck or fish. The male owner kept us waiting when clearly not busy. He said to me “When in France SPREAK French” how rude !!! I said sorry I can’t speak fluid French. I asked for a menu and he said “wait five minutes” even though he stood there doing nothing . He was trying to embarrass us and we really did not like him at all. He should not be within hospitality as he has NONE. The pictures make this horrible hotel look better than what’s it was We left their restaurant before ordering food and even hungry decided to go to bed. The carpet leading to rooms filthy and well worn. We took a video of how dull and dingy the corridor to the rooms are.Carpet to hallways red, marked and very worn. The bedrooms dates and horrid facilities Over all of your reading this then consider AVOIDING as you will NOT like this horrible hotel and appalling restaurant.

Location was ok
We arrived at 9pm after 13 hrs travel and asked for food we were advised kitchen was closed despite people in there and people still dining we were told nothing was open and we could go to Burger King of macdonalds which after 13hrs we had to get back in the car and go out. I woke in the morning and my bathroom was full of ants as we left at 7.30 and the reception was not open there was no one to tell ! The lady running the reception was pleasant and helpful I just feel that the service should be better and also the ants are a problem.
Breakfast - only small croissant and pain au chocolat on table, rolls were very hard and the pastries on our 2nd day were overdone! Jams were excellent. Dinner was a limited set menu but good value and good quality.
We couldn't see how you could get to the pool and our garden view room had a good view of the restaurant roof and couldn't see garden or pool, only trees in the park by the lake.Stairs were rather steep.
Situation , accommodation grand
Menu not written out , fixed 3 course meal , no choice . Breakfast selection poor 2 small pastries on plate , no other bread , Arrival at hotel was not welcoming . Disappointed !
The location was fine, our room was at rear of Auberge and therefore quiet.
Decor dated.
Location off motorway
Set menu , and cleanliness
we made a short-notice booking and receptionist very accommodating.
location
The restaurant was excellent, and the food was very good.
As we found out that the parking, was in a lay-by 100 metres away. We had to carry our 14 pieces of luggage up a curved staircase, that our age of late 70s while the male receptionist looked on. The room was small, the shutters were filthy, wallpaper peeling off, the toilet was disgusting, mould in the bathroom.
Good location. Charming little village, close to the motorway. Excellent one night stop-over. The little lake is nice and the pool looked nice and clean, but....
Cold, nonchalant welcome by the owner, we felt like intruders. Instead of the big family room for 4 people that we reserved for 131 Euro, we received a crampy double, completely filled up with two extra (uncomfortable) beds. And no soap in the bathroom... We would not mind, it's just one night, just wanted to get to the pool and have a good relaxing dinner after a very long drive. But when we asked that the price be corrected, we were actually asked to pay 145 instead of 131 Euro!!! For a room which in their own price list was 75 Euro (plus 20 for extra beds)! And this on a basis of a bunch of lame excuses, basically blaming Booking, who "told them to give us this particular room" and "already took the money, etc." I have been in dozens of hotels across the world, I have a Genius 3 status with Booking and have never been treated like this! With such a welcome, we skipped the pool, dinner and breakfast to avoid any further surprises. A very disappointing first day of summer holidays. ,
Good location for overnight stop on the way down to the south.
no choice of food for the evening meal, one starter, one main course and one dessert.
Fine
A friendlier reception . 32degrees and the corridor radiators were all on!, Mediocre food , no choice as ‘no chef and personnel problems’ but no reduction in the set meal which should have been offered
The setting is quite nice with the water in front of the Hotel. Very easy to get to from the autoroute.
There was only ONE set menu apparently due to staffing problems. The food was OK, but really there should have been more choice. Pate or cold meats need no preparation. The welcome was not very positive with no ☺ smiles.
great location 2 minutes from the A20 motorway. lovely pool and terrace. breakfast excellent value and a great bar!
tea and coffee making facilities in the bedrooms would be nice
location. easy to find. a few minutes off the main road.
bedroom was decorated in very dark eclectic colour scheme. staff weren’t expecting us (booked via booking .com). didn’t get the room we had booked. booked a double had to have a twin.
clean room and establishment.
owner/ manager was not very friendly. staying at an Auberge I asked if an evening meal was available. he simply said ‘No’. i then asked if anywhere local was open to eat. he replied ‘how do I know what is open’. the Lady at the place was a lot friendlier but didn’t feel like having a conversation after our initial contact.
The hospitality of the female owner and her kindness made a great stay. Also the dinner, from 19.30 (!, so fix something else for little children) was perfect.
The welcome by the male host was a little peculiar. Almost looked if he didn’t like the place, hosting or welcoming guests. But maybe he had an off day.
Clean & comfortable bed Beautiful bed linen Beautiful location Would be great for an overnight like us, or longer to visit local places. Lovely little town.
Good evening meal
Very basic breakfast
