About

Petropoulakis Tower is set in a restored centuries-old tower house, which stands on top of a hill. With commanding views of Lakonikos Gulf and Mount Parnon and Mount Taygetos, the family-run guest house features an outdoor pool. Only 2.2 mi from Gythion, Petropoulakis Tower serves as a perfect base from which to explore Mani’s coastal villages, pristine beaches and towers. Petropoulakis Tower rooms feature wooden beamed roofs and bright-colored walls. Each is equipped with air conditioning and heating, and has a mini-bar, safe and satellite TV. Balconies offer views over olive groves, forests, mountains and sea. Hearty breakfast and dinner are prepared with homegrown, organic ingredients. There is a traditional organic food store on site. Guests can learn how to make olive-oil soap, prepare traditional spoon-sweets and bake bread in an original wood-fired oven. A TV lounge, and café bar with fireplace are available to guests. A furnished terrace can be used during warm weather. Petropoulakis Tower also offers free public Wi-Fi.

    Pros +

    • Great location, very friendly staff, magnificent view, charming hotel, tasty and plentiful breakfast
    • We enjoyed the peaceful location of the property, the views, and the unique style of the tower. The hosts were very helpful and kind. The breakfast was lovely with lots of homemade stuff.
    • Amazing tower and yard. Very clean room. Very comfy mattresses.

    Cons -

    • Room shower a bit tight.
    • It would be perfect if the room was a little bigger.
    • WiFi was spotty at best but who needs it when staying at a tower! WiFi was ok near the pool. The tower is 1 mile up on a hill from the main road with curved paved road which can be daunting the first couple of times going up and down but you get used to it.

Property was beautiful with great rooms. We stayed on the top room. It is a castle/tower just 10 minutes from the port of Gytheio. Staff was friendly and the food was delicious.

WiFi was spotty at best but who needs it when staying at a tower! WiFi was ok near the pool. The tower is 1 mile up on a hill from the main road with curved paved road which can be daunting the first couple of times going up and down but you get used to it.

An unusual property in a lovely location, quite remote and with wonderful views. The dinners on the terrace were terrific with views to match and incredible value for money. Very personable owners.

The bathrooms are very small and need updating.

The cozy bed, delicious food, the lovely family running the place - including the friendly family dog that greets everybody. A charming place.

The family suite we booked for 3 adults was a bit small..

Wonderful breakfast, gorgeous view, excellent staff :) Comfortable rooms and just a 10 minute drive from Gytheio.

Some network difficulties and connectivity issues, due to the rooms being build with stone.

Beautiful room and hotel.Love the view the location was amazing. Lovely staff , it was an incredible stay. There was a concert on in one o the nights under the stars it was very special.

    - very clean- amazing property, absolutely stunning, amazing view and relaxing- the rooms are very good, clean, dark at night

    - looks like not really made for foreigners - staff doesn’t really speak English and not really keen to make effort - some rules are quite uncommon and disturbing : pool is open from 7 to 8am then 11 to 2pm and then 4 to 7pm (?) - given how much you pay per night, I found it quite annoying, especially with kids !

Clean, comfortable rooms.Close to Gythio, but access is via secondary mountain roads.Loved the views from the pool and restaurant. Breakfast is correct, but with little variety.

What a fabulous 4 night stay, we wished that we had longer. The photos on the web do not do it justice, it is so much more. The place is exceptionally clean and tidy, the owner and all the staff, that includes Bruno the Labrador are so welcoming and friendly, any help or advice just ask. They will chat or leave you your space, it is so comfortable. The info we all need - the Tower is at the top of a hill with a winding road up to it (easy to drive), initially you might think you have made a wrong turn but you haven’t. When you arrive the Towers are stunning as are the views and you will notice the peace and quiet. There is a lovely pool with pool loungers on one side, there is a bar where they serve hot/cold/alcoholic drinks and also you choose buffet breakfast from here. There are lovely seats and tables looking over the pool area or the hills and out tosea where you can just relax or eat, drink to your hearts content. They have a great menu with small plates and larger meals, they always had something special in the kitchen too. The food was wonderful and plenty, I didn’t catch the chefs name but the food is very good. Our room was a double which had a good sized wardrobe, chest of drawers, a tv, desk with enclosed fridge which worked very well, plenty of plug sockets, excellent shower with a choice of jets, hand held or over head, the water pressure was brilliant always. A/c which was also excellent and didn’t need to be on for long at all as the style of the rooms kept a good temperature even though it was August. The windows as you will see in my photo are glazed with internal shutters also, so basically black outs for a great sleep if that’s what you want. The bed, very comfortable mattress and there were 4 pillows, 2 that were like the memory foam cooling gel one that shape for your neck and 2 that were firm and plump but yet soft.I know that if we visit that area again without any doubt we will stay here.

    Nothing at all

This is an amazing property in a stunning setting. All the staff were very polite and attentive from the minute we arrived until we left. Our room was well presented and had a comfy bed along with provision for hot drinks. The bathroom was clean and modern with toiletries provided. The property offers breakfast and an evening meal which can be taken on the terrace which offers stunning views of the surrounding landscape looking to the sea. Our evening meal was exceptional with a good choice of traditional and modern cuisines. You can also take advantage of the pool which was very welcome during a hot afternoon.

    Nothing, everything was great.

Absolutely beautiful place located on an isolated hill with the most beautiful view you can enjoy from anywhere in the premises. Excellent rooms and very friendly hosts.

The location is great! Close to Gytheion and quite. The building, the dinning area and the surroundings are amazing.

The breakfast could have some more choices such as cold coffee. The rooms are a bit small as it is an old tower.

The Petropoulakis Tower has a stunning location on top of a hill amongst a wonderful landscape of olive trees, with mountains and sea in the distance. The property offers a range of comfortable and, tasteful accommodation, with great food on offer, either for breakfast or evening meals. It is family run accommodation and both the owners and staff are warm and welcoming.

I wish I could give this more than a "10". It is remote, outside of town, at the end of al long mountain road, but what awaits around the last bend took my breath away. Absolutely beautiful location - serene and peaceful. The views in every direction were spectacular. Our hosts, Yota and Dimitri, were very hospitable and catered to our every need. Breakfast was delicious, including Yota's homemade bread and preserves. (give Bruno (chocolate lab) a hug and a scratch for us :) )
