About

Hotel Cala dei Pini is located in the heart of the beautiful Gulf of Palmas Bay, just 1969 feet from the renowned Porto Pino Beach in south-western Sardinia. Nestled in an area of outstanding natural beauty, the hotel offers 50 rooms of 6 different types designed to meet the needs of couples, families, and groups. From their private balconies, guests can enjoy stunning views of the lagoon (only from the Room Superior L), of the swimming pool, the Aleppo pine forest, and the juniper trees that characterize this unspoiled corner of the island. Surrounded by spacious gardens, Hotel Cala dei Pini features an outdoor swimming pool and a children's playground. The green areas provide the perfect setting for relaxation, leisurely walks, and peaceful moments immersed in the Mediterranean landscape. Every day, the enchanting scenery of Porto Pino offers unique experiences: from breathtaking sunrises over the lagoon and the pink reflections of flamingos to the intense scents of Mediterranean vegetation and the spectacular sunsets that illuminate the hills behind the hotel. Guests can start their day with a rich Italian-style buffet breakfast served every morning. The property also offers free Wi-Fi, free parking, bicycle rental service (additional charges apply), and assistance in organizing excursions and local activities. Hotel Cala dei Pini is located approximately 16 mi from Sant’Antioco and about a one-hour drive from Cagliari Elmas International Airport. A private transfer service to and from the airport is available upon request (additional charges apply). Small pets are welcome upon request only, with a maximum weight of 5 kg (additional charges apply). Hotel Cala dei Pini is the ideal setting for a holiday dedicated to relaxation, the sea, and the authentic beauty of Sardinia.

Pros +

  • The facilities are great - everything is super clean as well. Hotel is easy to find and well located to go to the beach and restaurants nearby
  • The breakfast was amazing. The lady assisting at the breakfast also prepared gluten free bread and a gluten free apple cake.
  • Amazing food, rooms were clean and well designed. Great pool.

Cons -

  • The hotel has a rule that you have to leave the key card at the reception when leaving the hotel which from a security perspective I find very concerning (guests/people passing by) could claim they are from a very different room and take your stuff. After a lengthy discussion they agreed that we keen the key. This information should definitely be displayed in the Fine Print on the front end - if I would have known this from the beginning I would have not booked it. Some of the staff (evening staff) was not very helpful when asking for recommendations on where to eat/go for drinks
  • We had to pay extra for our 1 year old baby because she was not added. We agreed to pay 10 euros per day as the receptionist told us however, we had no towel for my baby and not even a cot. On the day of check out there was a different receptionist and asked us to pay 15 per day.
  • During my mother (of 60) and her sister stay, the staff was anything but accommodating in relation to helping them with booking transportation from the hotel to the first beach. In general, there was not a lot of help when they needed to organise a trip or some visit to the town. A minimum of 30 minutes walk is needed to reach the closest beach, as the only bridge that would connect the hotel with that beach is privately-owned by another hotel, and no other bridges have been built in the area. Think about this if you are travelling with elderly people.

The area surrounding the hotel and the hotel were both stunning.

Breakfast was minimal, coffee was instant low quality. Wasps are a problem. Housekeeping are not up to scratch.

air conditioning in the room, the friendliness of the staff

Disappointing breakfast, little choice

Hotel with all needed and working facilities, internal parking, swimming pool, balcony and pleasant view on the countryside.

Could do with a bit more character but has everything for a comfortable stay. Few kilometers away from the Porto Pino beach.

The place is simple and clean, very well kept. It's close to the beach and restaurants, you can reach these on foot, in 10/15 minutes. The bed was comfortable so we rested well. The staff at the reception is very nice, professional and helpful. They also have new mountainbikes for rental for a very reasonable price (15euro), and it's worth to have a stroll around with it.

perfect location, quiet, nice staff

7RafaelPosted on: 8-9-2021

The pool is always pretty calm even in the middle of august.

Staff are not very friendly. The room is a little outdated, but nothing too serious. The location is acceptable for restaurants, but not great for the beach.

Great place for couples. Good breakfast, close to the beach, very nice view. I highly recommend.

It was super clean. Room we had was comfotable and quite big. If you' re looking for total relax and quite place this is it! (as per hotel and per the place itself). The beach is very long, just keep walking a bit more, to the middle, and you'll find all the space for yourself.

The staff at reception should be more promotive on their services
