Pros +
- There is nothing wrong with the establishment, however the owner is the most rude person I have ever seen in hospitality - he should really retire or get another job but he is totally not suitable to be a host. He was dirty, very unprofessional and authoritarian.
- A truly wonderful castle stay, made even more special by the warm and gracious hospitality of the castellan, Mr. Bauer. Our visit felt like stepping back in time — a unique and memorable experience. The peaceful surroundings, stunning views, fresh air, and the nearby lake all added to the charm. For nature lovers, there are also plenty of scenic hiking trails in the area. A perfect retreat for those seeking tranquility and a touch of history.
- The stay definitely surpassed my expectations and I will for sure return here at some point in the future. Recommended especially for people who love history and nature. I thank the owners and the steward for doing this job. - authenticity- a real castle- environment- comfort- great breakfast- very kind steward
Cons -
- The host/owner is not suitable for hospitality he just does not know how to behave, I had an argument with him before breakfast what resulted in me being banned from breakfast while having paid for it. I handled it professionally and did not make a scene and just did not force myself into the breakfast room, my wife who went in for breakfast was denied coffee the way she liked, while other guests got the same served as my wife had asked, anyway luckily was only one night
- Bad treatment and been told they are not animal shelter and perhaps we didn’t understand their website because of lack ok German language and not knowing how to use the google translator. German people who arrive also with dogs after us were also treated badly and left. After a long trip and with a big hopes to stay in a beautiful, relaxing place we met a very unkind person at the desk who ruined everything. Not acceptable behaviour.
- Bathrooms are well functioning and specious but can benefit from design upgrade to fit old castle style

Nothing, we left a few minutes later after been treated badly by the man at the desk.

This is a very old castle on the edge of the little lake with beautiful vintage charm. You almost feel like on the film set. Considering the building is very old, the rooms are comfortable. Quite spacious with many original features. Don’t expect super clean modern comfort but beds are a good size and comfortable. We loved old staircases and mysterious corridors. Staff is very friendly! We arrived late, after midnight and hotel got system in place for secure self check inBreakfast is excellent. Freshly prepared by staff. No self service non-sense Our teenagers, particularly loved this place! We will be back

Loved how private the location was and how beautiful the room was. Can’t say enough about how accommodating the host was. He was truly a great help and really catered to us. The breakfast was truly outstanding and the breakfast room gorgeous. Best breakfast the whole trip.
Beautiful scenery, away from busy streets. Amazing castle, interior…
- The pleasure of staying in a castle in its original state ("dans son jus").- Ernst Bauer's friendliness (including staff): his invaluable advice on sightseeing in the region (there's a lot to do!), tour of the castle and explanation of its history and anecdotes, etc. (www.intempo.at).- Perfect peaceful and quiet location in the countryside (not a sound around during the night).- Excellent breakfast in an historic room.- A magnificent terrace for aperitifs in the setting sun.
- Curtains would help to sleep longer in the morning :-)
Attentive ownerAmazing place to relaxTasty breakfast
Very friendly staff. Nice breakfast. Nice atmosphere of the old castle. Perfect for 1-2 nights if you like this atmosphere.
Humiliated by the hotel manager
The offered price by the booking.com,witch we payed, was too low for his opinion. He treated us as second class people and raised his voice publicly.
Excellent stay in a historic castle, very good breakfast prepared by a very sensitive person. The Lord of the castle - an exceptional man!

The place is really charming even off season. I can't even imagine how it looks in all its majesty in spring or summer. We also had a really lovely chat with the Kastellan and could try some local dishes.
Location, host, history of the place
lot of stairs to climb:)
it is a special placestaff was very supportingbreakfast was excellent
the castle is old and may need some maintenance, but it is ok for the time being!
An adventure! Step back in time and enjoy something very special and out of the ordinary. I loved the old world feeling, the history and the creaking floors. The manager, Herr Bauer was charming, attentive, well informed, very interesting and a real gentleman. We especially loved the dinner party and getting to know the owner, Graf Leopold. Herr Bauer gave us a guided tour of the castle and is a very good cook and host. Breakfast was served in the gardens with the wonderful view and was delicious, with cold meats, cheeses, vegetables and breads.
The driveway is a little bumpy but adds to the authenticity and character of the castle. Mind your head if you are tall the beds have a foot board. You need a car to get about as the local village does not have many amenities. We stayed here and enjoyed Wörthersee.
We loved our 5 nights stay at Schloss Moosburg, realy enjoyed the peace and quiet, the wonderful nature and the unique experience of staying in a castle that's so authentic - it still (mostly) has it's original 16th century roofing! I must confess I was a bit confused with reviews being so polarised (checked them on Google), and can honestly say I don't get the bad ones, I guess you have to choose according to your personal preferences, and this hotel was everything we needed for our short vacation. Don't expect luxury, because it's not even what the hotel's advertising, rather enjoy the uniqueness and authenticity. The staff was very complaisant, we even got a tour of the castle and learned a bit of its history, which was a very nice bonus. There's a lake right beneath the castle but we sadly didn't get a chance to bathe there due to the high waters caused by storms and floods a week before we got there. The breakfast was more than enough, and even though we're not dog owners, the hotel is very pet friendly as many of the other guests brought their canines with them and all were treated very welcoming. Schloss Moosburg was a perfect basis for our everyday exploring of Carinthia and we'd love to come back, both to the hotel and Carinthia :)
The rooms were very spacious and clean, but the bathroom could have gotten cleaned a bit better. The bed in our room had a big footboard which was a nuisance for my 2,03 m tall husband, but nothing unmanageable and nothing he's not already used to. Also, it would be nice if the room had a small fridge so you could have a cold beer waiting for you after all day on the road, since the hotel has no restaurant or bar, only serves breakfast.
I loved the whole experience of staying in an old castle that remains mostly true to its history without a lot of modernising. The breakfast was excellent, thoughtfull, delicious and attentively served.
The room/bathroom was well appointed and comfortable, but could have been cleaner.
The place surprises you. We only stayed for one night and enjoyed it a lot. The host takes care of you and the place feels like a mystery. Rooms are spacious and views are beautifull. Good breakfast as well.
We only stayed for one night, all was good and as expected for a stay in a castle.
