    Pros +

    • The village is very quiet, the hotel is very cozy, the bedding is clean and comfortable, the breakfast is also great, and most importantly, the owner is kind and provides help at any time.
    • Very welcoming staff! Beautifully decorated. Beautiful tiles throughout the building. Great buffet continental breakfast. Convenient to the Via Verde for hikers and pilgrims on the Camino..
    • Easy access off main highway route with plenty of eating places in larger town 4 km away. Character building so some slight noise between rooms but spotlessly clean with ultra comfy bed and a good breakfast. Lovely owners and great value stay for our one night.

    Cons -

    • It is not close to the vía de la plata.
    • A few hooks in the bathroom would be nice.
    • A bit of a bigger desk in the room would have been nice to have a place where to work, but I found an alternative in the living room.

This is a sweet cosy villa re-shaped into a rural hotel. It is decorated in a simple but elegant way, respecting the character of the villa. The welcome was very friendly and everything, room and breakfast, were ready on time, despite it being holidays. There are a comfortable garden and a small pool available, although I was there in December and did not have the chance to enjoy them. The house-made jam at breakfast was amazing.

A bit of a bigger desk in the room would have been nice to have a place where to work, but I found an alternative in the living room.

Beautiful interesting old property in a tranquil rural location. The gardens and swimming pool were lovely and extensive. The rooms were spacious with a fridge.

Nothing but you have to accept that due to the size of the grounds and age of the property that there is faded grandeur

Breakfast very good. Lovely old house and the interior was interesting ( quirky) and great hospitality.

Very conveniently located between the Algarve and Santander ferry. Very friendly with rustic charm. Delicious coffee and freshly squeezed orange at breakfast. Large comfy bed.

Can’t fault the property but the local restaurant was closed the night we stayed.

The perfect location for our trip. The owner was extremely helpful and thoughtful offering us breakfast early to avoid the heat. The bedroom was quaint with a canopy over the bed. The bed linen was the best. The breakfast excellent. The building was interesting having been built in the 1920s for a wealthy factory owner before becoming a nunnery.

Comfortable bed & welcoming host. Beautiful old building with interesting furniture and decor. The reception area is lovely and well heated as was the bedroom.

Nothing. The village was beautiful and we're glad we had time to explore it before we had to leave the area. We visited the local bar which was bustling and we enjoyed lovely tapas and beer.

We were travelling form Costa Sol to Santander so this was a ideal area to stop for the night. The town was very very small, in fact it only had one Restaurant. The hotel was very comfortable but that was not why we give it such high marks. The (only) staff member said the Hotel restaurant was closed but the only towns restaurant was only 300 metres away. As snow was forecasted we decide to eat early (7pm) so set off to the restaurant. On arrival we found it shut so returned to the Hotel. The staff member ( I wish I took his name) was surprised but offered to cook us some pork loin rather than try to get a taxi in the worsening weather. We had an excellent meal with lovely wine and at great value. If you want a lively place don't come here but he went to so much trouble and would not except a tip as we left.

We stayed overnight on a long off-season car journey, just a few minutes off the motorwayA warm welcome to a lovely 'traditional Spanish' style house, and a nice breakfast! For dinner the hosts directed us to 'El Garito de Gus' (a few minutes walk) where we enjoyed a fun village-style welcome and a tasty meal at a very reasonable price
