Pros +
- Fabulous location & atmosphere - old world charm.
- The location is beautiful - the breakfast and thermal baths are the highlight of the hotel. Despite being a little rustic, it is very clean.
- It was indeed a beautiful setting in the mountains. We enjoyed the hot waters of the spa
Cons -
- In room shower head was impossible to position and water temperature varied wildly without warning.
- We had booked a €350 a night penthouse room which we imagined would give great views of the mountains. We were checked into a room on the second floor. When we were actually shown a penthouse room, it was very claustrophobic so we opted for a second floor room. We did not enjoy the main meal included in the price, as it was the toughest sirloin steak I have ever been served. We checked out after one night and headed to a better hotel in Santander for about €100 less expensive.
- Room was in the roof with a skylight window, no view, too hot and useless air conditioning. Fairly tatty in general.

Location and parking
Room was in the roof with a skylight window, no view, too hot and useless air conditioning. Fairly tatty in general.
The staff, particularly those in the restaurant were friendly and helpful. We had a good, spacious room although it was let down by the bathroom. The setting offered some good views of the river and mountains.
The spa facilities were okay but not extensive and we were disappointed that access to the outdoor pools was not included with our booking. The shower in our room alternated between scolding hot and cold and leaked water onto the floor, but we couldn't have a bath instead as there was no plug. Dinner was unfortunately low quality and we chose to eat out on our second night. The hotel charged a premium price but didn't offer facilities too match - disappointing.
Location great for us having just come thru the Picos. Didn't get chance to use the Spa but if you like the more rustic approach - head to the river. There's a small area of thermal activity and someone has created a cool personal thermal spa. I wished I'd seen it sooner!
Not much.
A small positive aspect of this hotel was that when we forgot our shoes in the parking lot after hiking, they didn't throw them away but kept them for us. Another positive aspect was the breakfast, which had a wide selection, although there was too much sweet food of questionable quality and not good coffee.
I had a very disappointing stay at this hotel. The staff was incredibly rude and unhelpful. They made me feel like I was bothering them just by being there. The only exception was a kind young lady at the entrance of the wellness area. For a supposed 4-star hotel, the room lacked basic amenities like glasses, a tea or coffee set, and more. To access the wellness area, we had to purchase overpriced slippers for over 6 euros and wear a swim cap. Despite these requirements, the pool was in poor condition with bugs floating in the water and visible mold on the walls. The wellness area was not well-maintained at all.Overall, this was a very unpleasant experience, and I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. The price for one night was extremely overpriced, and the hotel does not meet the standards of a 4-star rating.
The spa was amazing. I very much recommend the outside pool/cave. Food was decent too.
The room was a bit neglected. The air conditioning was not working (and it was too hot and humid). Also, the bathroom flooded every time we took a shower.
Food excellent Staff excellent Location excellent
Twin room with bath/shower not suitable for senior guests.
Location was superb.
Service was luke warm but improved after a day or two. Rooms were tired and in need of renovation.
The room was very clean and the bed was very comfortable. The spa was really enjoyable and the massage was relaxing. The choices at breakfast were extensive and tasty. The staff were all friendly especially Angel who went the extra mile as we don’t speak Spanish.
Wearing bathing caps in the spa, although we understand this is a requirement in all spas and pools in Spain.
The pool facilities were awesome!
The rooms need upkeep, a bit rundown. The breakfast coffee was very bad.
This is a paradise. Very nice location. Great place, great room.Nicest breakfast in the last years. And the baths are wonderful. Worth each cent spent. Really loved. The external baths, hot pools, are excellent. Staff was very nice. We would like to thank and post a compliment to the lady who assisted us at the internal bath. Very nice, lended us a swin cap.
Well, the bathroom need some renovation. And I would suggest online booking for baths. External pools could be open until 22pm as well. But really great. It's not necessary to use sandals at the baths. It's a small space, one has to walk three steps, and is under the water.
The Cueva hot water springs. The SPA was under construction but it looked like it has potencial
There were several issues with our stay:1) some of the staff are not professional nor friendly2) both breakfast and dinner need severe improvements3) there were several things broken in our room4) the cleaning was not properly done
Great location for hiking. Stunning natural environment. Reception & restaurant were good.
Room dated with bare minimum of facilities, toilet seat & shower hook broken, no coffee in the room, rude spa staff.
The hotel was lovey, the spa facilities that was included in the price were just regular spa facilities - nothing to write home about
They advertised a natural hot springs and infinity pool - however this was an additional charge. I feel that the way they describe this is very misleading
Very nice place, good staff, pretty facilities. Spectacular views around. Rooms are cozy and clean. The bed was comfortable. The staff left us a banana and a couple of other fruits in the room. They have parking.
Quite expensive, no hygiene kit in the bathroom, no slippers, no water bottles usually provided by 4 stars hotels. In the restaurant the food is okay, but really nothing special.
Costumer attention, restaurant dinner menu and spa facilities
Coffee for breakfast too watery
large rooms. though a bit old style decorated but with comfortable beds and great outside thermal baths.
staff in the restaurant was very unfriendly, rude, and unflexible. you had to sit on the table they tell you to , even if in a uncomfortable spot. when we reserved a specific dining table through the reception they gave it away to other family and when we came did not want to arrange anything else. reception people much nicer.
The staff were great, very friendly and helpful. The balneario was superb, very invigorating and relaxing.Nice, clean, comfortable room.Fabulous breakfast, fresh fruit, pastries, homemade cakes, cheese and ham and lots of cooked options too.
The lunch and the dinner were both disappointing.Food was not the best quality.
