Pros +
- Do not expect your normal place. This place is in the middle of nowhere which is most of its charm. There is a pretty waterfall right behind the lodge and the surrounding area is beautiful. The room we had was spacious and very comfortable. We were welcomed by a very friendly gentleman who was fun to talk with.
- Beautiful area, very nicely decorated, food was excellent in the attached restaurant.
- Friendly staff
Cons -
- The pillows were a bit flat . But is that is my only complaint, I am doing great!
- This hotel listed their hotel as 12.5 miles from Stikkyshölmar - in fact it was 120 kilometers away down a very long and bumpy dirt road. We only stayed 1 of the three nights we had booked due to the distance from our business in Grundafjordur. We tried to call the owner to cancel the 2 other nights but he would not return our calls and we were charged the entire amount.
- This property is approx 1 hr off the road, not recommended at all if you want to do sightseeing of peninsula loop. It adds up a lot of time to come out on the main road itself. Not worth taking this option. It’s totally secluded, nearest town is far.

Beautiful part of Iceland with gorgeous countryside. Good breakfast
Room was a heatbox, felt I was being melted by the suns rays. I kept my door open for most of the time. You need to keep windows open to keep cool.
Lovely quiet location off beaten track yet easy run into a town with basic amenities. Waterfall in back. Hotel was very quiet. Plenty of space in the rooms, sufficient outlets, good shower.
No 2nd floor elevator. Ceiling skylight with no way to pull shade. A little weird having to decide night before whether one person in our group of 4, who skipped dinner that night, would eat at their typical but pricy breakfast buffet "because they might run out of food".
Everything and everyone. By far the best place we’ve stayed. The owner converted his farm property into a 5 star lodge. Beautiful with no trace of a farm except one wall, Peter, a bull mount and two cow hide rugs. One rug, Peter’s mother which was the last cow on the property. The room was larger than most and there was a sauna and hot tub. We were treated like royalty. The chief cooked my meal separate to avoid onions.
Just that we had to travel on.
The overall feel of the place was very pleasant, from the large room with private bathroom to the large dining hall which served very good food and was nicely designed in a modern way. There was beautiful view out the windows. Staff was great.
There wasn't much that we didn't like about this place. The summer nights are quite bright in Iceland and we need the room to be rather dark to fall asleep. The window blinds could have covered the window a little bit better.
I decided at short notice to book accommodation there. Wow, I don't regret it. The hotel manager's reception was so friendly. Also that of the other staff. The hot tub is great. And I have to mention the dinner. Probably the best restaurant I've ever been to. For the starter, I had chicken soup and for the main course, cod's cheek. I highly recommend this remote place 100%. Don't forget the view over Breiðafjörður. I look forward to coming back there.
Chef and Arthur most accommodating and pleasant. Pulling up we were concerned but turned out to be an oasis in the desert. Food excellent. Rooms ? VERY PLEASED . Ride was very long, though.
Long ride
The staff are nice and helpful. You can use the sauna and yacuzzi for free
There are not many things to do there
This hotel is a true oasis in nature, offering breathtaking scenery and tranquility. The staff was incredible—warm, attentive, and always ready to help. They made our stay truly special. The on-site restaurant served outstanding meals. I highly recommend this hotel for a perfect blend of natural beauty, excellent service, and exceptional dining.
It was impossible to refill a water bottle in the room without using a glass, which was a bit inconvenient. A few mugs instead of disposable cups would have been appreciated.
Very quite and cosy lodge. Nicely located for some peaceful days with a waterfall in the backyard. The waiter Artur was the best and most friendly and professional I met on whole Iceland. Food was good and room sizeable (family room) unfortunately only with roof window.
All good.
The location is magnificent.Very nice lounge and restaurant.Nice room with hotel style comfort.
Everything was as described. The sauna was nice and hot. The location was so beautiful. The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. The food was also very good. We had dinner upon our arrival. Followed by a stop in the jacuzzi and the sauna. 10/10w
Incredible place, far from civilisation, yet very comfortable. You have to drive at least 30 km on F-road (no tarmac) to get there so in case you hire your car, make sure it is allowed to go there. Nearest shop or gas station is over 50 km away, so plan accordingly. You will be rewarded with really amazing surrounding (waterfall included, a must see), absolute silence and a break from noisy crowds. The staff was wonderful, very friendly, helpful and caring. We also tried the dinner and although the choice is (understandably) a bit limited, all food that we had was simply delicious. Wifi was good. Beds were comfortable and the rooms clean. The rooms have no refrigerators but the staff offered to store our food in theirs. You can use an outside hot water bathtub free of charge. This place is certainly not for everyone but if you enjoy solitude far from crowds and unspoiled nature, Vogur is definitely one to recommend.
We were absolutely satisfied.
It was surrounded by beautiful nature
The rooms have pretty much no light and were to hot not very pleasant to sleep
We were a group of 4 Adults & Three teenagers. We had two complete breakfast experiences as well as two evening mealsat our leisure. The food was plentiful with variety and originality. The staff was warm & welcoming and interacted verynicely with the kids. This is already the location they are talking about as their favorite during our 10 day Icelandic Adventure. Special "Kudos" to Ania & Artur . They were attentive hosts who took extra efforts to interact with thethree children in our group. That focus was sincerely appreciated !
Hot Tub needs to be part of a daily staff checklist ! We found a failed circuit breaker & slightly low water level. It would have been nice to be warned that the main approach road WAS passable but under major remodel /construction. Suggest a larger selection of Icelandic Gin & Wine @ the bar.
Nice workers, served good breakfast and tried their best.
The hotel need renovations, the blinds on the windows are already dead and broken and not closing the windows at night from the light. The room was not good cleaned, we saw hair of previous guests everywhere. The road to the hotel is crazy, especially after the rain it’s really tough.
Beautiful scenery. Clean, functional room. Wonderful host and food. Lovely hot tub.
Location was more remote than I realized when booking. Though in the end, that was a grand adventure too and fun was had by all.
Location, food, and staff were amazing!
