    Pros +

    • Getaway vibe. Road is tricky and you do get tired but the views and scenery - breathtaking
    • We enjoyed our stay, the fact that the interior swimming pool is opened 24h is a must. The view and the piece of the hotel is a must. The staff was very kind and available, the water boiling machine in our room had 2 tea leaves inside, we talked with the staff and 4 minutes later we had another one!
    • Location, SPA services

    Cons -

    • Bed was not very comfortable
    • This is an EXTREMELY difficult property to drive to especially if the driving coordinates take you through one lane roads that could be for two cars on a side of the mountain with no guard rails.
    • Staff was little on the restaurant and bar and it took us a while just to get attention of the waiters to order.

Wonderful room, service and a view of the river. Great food and breakfast. Nice pool. We love it

Hotel staff were nice and affective, bedroom was clean and comfortable and the views over the windows were spectacular. Saturday night they hosted a jazz night at the bar with live music and was great. Enjoyed the spa and pool as well.

Staff was little on the restaurant and bar and it took us a while just to get attention of the waiters to order.

Fantastic hotel in a beautiful setting. Great view of the D'Ouro, nice grounds with a small petting zoo. Easy access parking lot, and good restaurant. Highly recommend this hotel

Still trying to remember something that I disliked...

Beautiful views. Also nice with bad weather. Good place to relax

The beds are quite uncomfortable. The bar and restaurant are quite expensive

Good location, close to river and train station with several trains per day. Good breakfast with plenty of choices. Good restaurant where you can eat for a reasonable price and good quality (wines are expensive though!). If you book with a discount, you get good prices. Indoor swimming pool, sauna and turkish bath also with good conditions if you want to relax.

Staff is not the best you can find in a 4-star hotel, mainly the guy in the reception desk. Hotel was far from full, only a couple of rooms booked from what we could see in the pool or in the restaurant. However, he was not able to upgrade our room to one with river view without asking for more 20€. I won't probably come to this hotel in the summer because of this small topic.

The continental breakfast was great and the facilities are wonderful. The hotel has the most stunning view to the river and the rooms are comfortable and spacious.

We paid an insane amount of money to participate in the Christmas lunch at the hotel, and the food was horrible. It tasted like the leftovers from the previous night.

Beautiful views from the room. Comfortable beds. Friendly staff.

Bathroom was dated. WiFi is really bad. Breakfast was average.

    Good view of the valley

The restaurant was expensive and served me a bad chicken. When i said something, they took it back and said they tried it and it’s ok. At first we got a room with a very bad smell, when we called they said someone will come to check it out but nobody came. When we came to the reception they said they will move us to a different room. It is an hour long drive from the main attraction in the valley. There are no attractions on site, like wine tasting or some like that. We also found that the spa was expensive.

This was a nice getaway from the hustle and bustle of the bigger cities. This facility is right on top of hill over looking the Douro river. Beautiful and quiet

The beds and pillows in our suite were abismal. This apparently is a normal thing in Portugal. Not sure why this facility which is a spa as well wouldn’t spend the money on beds and really good quality pillows.

The hotel staff was very kind and welcoming. The location is great and the view is wonderful. I recommend to book the ro

Great view, comfortable beds, good breakfast

Old bath which is not very comfortable, not restocked coffee during the stay, spa opens late, no hot tub only sauna

    8EdnaPosted on: 9-5-2024

Lovely rooms, amazing views. Walk around the property was just amazing. Staff extremely warming.

Dinner at the restaurant was horrible and extremely expensive. Spent £70 and left it as of if I hadn’t had anything to eat.

The views from the hotel are second to none - truly breathtaking Breakfast was great quality and offered a range of fresh produce, offering everything you could wish for. Much of the produce came from the hotel's own garden, which you can walk around. The hotel farm was also a nice addition. Two pools was a bonus.

Staff were friendly, but the hotel was clearly short-staffed. We had a long wait for service at the pool bar on arrival although the food was good when it eventually arrived. The approach roads are narrow and windy as others have remarked, but very quiet so not too difficult to negotiate.

    - Breathtaking views of the river, with a small vineyard and a farm with goats and chickens. An amazing experience for kids and families seeking a peaceful getaway.- The service is attentive and professional. I received a personal message with a candy upon arrival, which was a nice touch.- The dining experience was excellent, featuring a "Farm to Table" concept. I enjoyed delicious figs that were harvested just a few hours before.- The rooms are spacious, modern, and have private balconies with great views.- The spa is a standout feature, offering a beautifully decorated space with an indoor pool, Turkish bath, and sauna. The ambiance is both relaxing and luxurious, making it a perfect retreat within the hotel.

    - For the quality of the hotel, the rooms could use better mattresses. That said, they're not bad.- At 8 AM on the last day, they mowed the lawn right in front of the room, making noise. I understand the need to do these activities outside the hottest part of the day, but they could have been more considerate.- Too many unused spaces within the hotel. I would recommend creating a gym for guests.

It was very nice place. You could let the animals and feed them and the pool area was nice. I liked the place

I don’t like that the indoor pool requires a bathing cap which is nonsense for me. So we didn’t do the indoor pool.

Beautiful views and great rooms. Friendly staff and nice pool area.
