Set in the heart of Oléron Island is L'Echappéee hotel, just a 6-minute drive from the beach. It offers a shaded garden with a terrace. Guest rooms have a simple décor and feature a flat-screen TV. All rooms have a view over the garden or the village. Most of the rooms have a private bathroom. Breakfast basic in quality. Use of public toilets can be heard through the night from guests in rooms without.
The staff were lovely, the bed was comfortable and there was plenty of hot water. Everything was clean.
The hotel is on a main road and there are no bars within walking distance. There is one restaurant in the town which looked gorgeous …. but was fully booked (so it must be good!) We had to drive to find a meal and a drink (obviously not the hotels fault but worth considering if you like to relax in a bar after arriving).
Really nice hosts who could not have been more helpful and friendly. A really great value for money hotel for a couple of nights.
