- Very authentic lodging in a house with character. Simple but clean rooms. Honest and friendly hosts. In the mids of nature.
- It was a lovely place in the middle of nowhere, which was perfect for us with our dog
- Davina was very helpful and accommodating. We were the only visitors that night so we had the shared living space to ourself too along with a pellet burner to keep us warm. The dogs were made most welcome and took an interest in the horses which they'd never seen before! Davina provided us with some basic provisions so we could prepare ourselves a simple evening meal in the shared kitchen. Our booking included breakfast of croissants and tea/coffee. Lovely country location. The bedroom was spacious and well appointed with a large well appointed bathroom. Ample parking a few yards away.
Cons -
- The breakfast was really minimal; no cold cuts, eggs, ...
- The stairs to the third floor are quite slippery. I am uncertain about what can be done.
- Nothing springs to mind… Perhaps being on the ground floor room next to the communal space/breakfast could have been a noisy wake-up, but the rooms are huge with very thick, stone walls, so not an issue for us.

A wonderful old farmhouse with a shared kitchen. Good hiking and walking tn the locality. The owners making us feel welcome and at ease immediately.
Lovely, welcoming and interesting host. Beautiful property with a lovely story. Great river close by for a morning swim.
I recently stayed at this charming bed and breakfast, and it was a truly delightful experience. The setting is beautiful, with well-maintained grounds and lovely horses that add to the peaceful ambience. One of the highlights of my stay was the incredible BBQ. Option, bring your own food for the bbq . The team here is exceptionally friendly and welcoming, making me feel right at home from the moment I arrived. The owner went above and beyond to assist me, even helping me book a vet for my pet before our border crossing. This level of care and attention is rare and much appreciated. Since it's a working farm, I recommend arranging your check-in time in advance. The team might not always be on-site, but they are always nearby and ready to help.Overall, this bed and breakfast offers a warm, personal touch in a beautiful, rural setting. I highly recommend it for anyone looking to relax, enjoy some good food, and experience genuine hospitality.

Very beautiful, nice, calm and silent farm with a lot of horses just outside Angoulême. Davina was a very nice host, and the dog is very friendly. We stayed one night in between our trip to Spain, this is an ideal place for that. The room was great and clean, the bed was a little hard. Unfortunately there was no self-made ratatouille with farms from the garden, which was offered in the reservation confirmation. But the old city center of Angoulême is very beautiful too.
The breakfast was very extensive and with fresh food. The property was in the middle of nature and very relaxing. The host was very kind and the room was very spacious and clean.
This was a rather lovely rustic-meets-Scandi-style bed and breakfast about fifteen minutes drive from Angoulême city centre. It was the perfect combination of quiet, countryside location with lovely walks, and handily placed for nipping into the city. Good breakfast, very friendly staff, and big, comfortable bed, with great quality linen.
Nothing springs to mind… Perhaps being on the ground floor room next to the communal space/breakfast could have been a noisy wake-up, but the rooms are huge with very thick, stone walls, so not an issue for us.
absolute hidden gem, historic buildings set in a peaceful and spacious area, beautifully appointed and comfortable with everything you need for a stopover or longer stay. It’s a B & B but Davina welcomes you to use the small kitchen for tea & coffee or if you just want to heat something for dinner. outside there are plenty of shaded areas to sit and relax and watch the beautiful horses - she runs a stables too. highly recommended.
Nothing at all.
the room was clean.
the amount of flies I get it’s a farm but my god!!! also says it’s comes with a kitchenette, it’s shared between the flies and at least 3 other rooms!
Domaine de Chantermaile is one of those hidden gems that make you keep using Booking. It's a natural paradise, surrounded by forest and horses, quiet yet very well communicated to the stunning town of Angouleme, where you can get lost in its cobbled streets around the historic town center. The space itself is minimalistic and exquisitely decorated, using rural elements and natural materials to create harmony in the room. The natural light available and the quieteness of the surroundings will ensure you the best night's sleep. You wake up in the morning to be welcomed by a carefully prepared breakfast, that includes fresh fruit and juices in season, coffee, homemade jams, butter, croissants and the best french bread. The common area where breakfast is served is close to the kitchen, with all the necessary appliances to make the best meal, if that's what you wanted to do. The people who run this place really care for it and have a solid philosophy behind it. I couldn't recommend it enough and I only hope to be able to return soon.
Lovely location with a lovely hostess, son and dog! Lol
Again, the world is getting hotter and while AC isn't the norm in France, having a ceiling fan or bedside fans would help us sleep.
everything! we wanted to be outside of town and in the countryside so this was perfect. the property is amazing!! gorgeous and comfortable, even better than the photos. I was so impressed by the owner. she is so nice.
can’t say that I disliked anything
