Located off the Route 1 highway, Fosshotel Nupar offers panoramic views of Vatnajokull’s lava fields, mountains and glaciers. Skaftafell National Park is 28 mi away. Each heated guest room at Fosshotel Nupar has a work desk and private bathroom with shower. Some rooms include a seating area. Guests can enjoy Icelandic dishes at the in-house restaurant. The bar is ideal for a relaxing drink in the evening. Staff can help arrange guided area tours during summer. A supermarket, petrol station and geothermal outdoor pool are 16 mi away, in Kirkjubæjarklaustur village.

- The private-ish backyard patio that could be used to lay out and watch the Aurora or stars, weather permitting.
- Excellent customer service. Acknowledged our anniversary with a nice room and some wine. Loved this hotel!
- Not fancy but a clean, comfortable, convenient stop on a tour around the ring road. Close to several falls and other things to see around Skaftafell. Staff was very helpful and found us a room for a second night even though they were fully booked.
Cons -
- No.
- Unhelpful bar staff. Curtains let in lots of light--terrible when the sun never sets. Extremely expensive even for Iceland but the hotel rooms seemed cheaply made. No amenities in the bathroom. Big squeeze bottles of soap that doubled as shampoo.
- The hotel itself could use some updating. The furniture was dates & very well-worn. Also, the shower had a pile of hair in it when we arrived.
