    Pros +

    • Beautiful setting and spectacular buildings.Quiet country setting at the edge of a small town
    • A beautifully renovated collection of farm buildings just on the outskirts of Chatellerault. The staff spoke English and could not have been more helpful or charming. We had dinner there which was excellent, flavoursome, plentiful and great value for money. We were only passing through so didn’t have time to enjoy any facilities but I wouldn’t hesitate to return or recommend it. A truly delightful stay.
    • It belonged to René Descartes. So you get a slice of history. Good food, nice people.

    Cons -

    • No tea or coffee making facilities in the room. The ensuite shower room was very small. My tipple is sparkling wine, there was not much choice. Given it's location I was surprised not to see a Loire Valley Cremant on offer. The champagne available was the priciest of all the champagne I sampled on my trip.
    • No vodka, very limited bar. Shame as it is in the middle of nowhere and we had to go out for a drink.
    • We only had one night!

Friendly hospitable staff. Lovely quiet location. Good, tasty if limited dinner menu including local produce.

Rural location very quiet. Excellent kitchen, well equipped.

A delightful location, full of history. The room in the pigeon loft was spacious and comfortable. We wandered around the lovely gardens and ate fresh peaches and apples from the trees. The food was outstanding and beautifully presented. The owners and staff were incredibly welcoming and were happy to talk about the property and gardens.

    We only had one night!

The property is authentic and really well renovated. It has character and charm. The staff were great and very accommodating with parking our motorcycles in a more secure spot than the open car park. Food was lovely, both at dinner and breakfast, using lots of local ingredients. We will definitely stay again.

    Location perfect

We hadn’t picked up on email advising we needed to book dinner by 13.00 on arrival day - not easy when you are driving! On arrival we were told that no dinner was available - all local restaurants either full or closed for holiday so we ended up with sandwiches from local supermarket, which we ate in the garden which was quite enjoyableSurely a hotel should be able to feed its guests? This impacted on our overall rating.

Beautiful historial property with modern rooms.

Wish pool was a little bigger as it was very crowded and we missed out on using this facility which would have been great at the end of a long journey.

Lovely setting and well appointed and tastefully rennovated.

There were no knives or forks left available at the breakfast buffet, but I managed to spread the butter with a spoon.

    10JennPosted on: 7-1-2024

Everything about it was superb. The comfort, cleanliness, warmth etc etc were first rally’s. We would defo stay here again

Awkward that they didn’t allow dogs in the restaurant for dinner when it was booked as a dog friendly hotel. We were allowed to have breakfast in a separate dining area which was more than adequate.

The location is beautiful and the staff were so friendly and welcoming. The room was clean and comfortable. The whole place made us feel like we had stumbled upon a real hidden gem in the countryside. If you stay, you must have dinner and breakfast, the food is delicious.

    9TeresaPosted on: 6-2-2024

Catered for allergies. Good restaurant and breakfast - essential as no other restaurants nearby. Beautiful setting and lovely buildings carefully restored.

Room whilst excellent was a little small.

    10NicholasPosted on: 5-27-2024

Nice quiet rural location close to Chatellerault. Was a very blissful sleep after the chaos of Paris in a noisy apartment.

    10JeannettePosted on: 5-26-2024

It’s a beautiful property and has wonderful gardens. It was great for our dog as we could just open the door from our room and she had access to a garden. The food for dinner was delicious (although the menu is limited) which wasn’t a problem for us. Breakfast variety was also great. Finally staff were helpful and friendly

    10PetarPosted on: 5-20-2024

all excellent. very friendly staff and excellent location as well. Food fresh and very tasty.
