We had a wonderful 2 night stay. Accomodations were excellent, w large rooms and balcony to wonderful views. Food (Dinner and breakfast) were excellent, and the dinner wait staff was very conscientious and attentive. Very friendly staff. We had one dinner at A Contre-Courant-a variety of meals served w a Caribbean flair and rum flavors to taste if so inclined. The owner was extremely nice and friendly. Overall had a great experience.

It was a remarkable experience. The place is beautiful. historic and spotless clean. There's a little park within the hotel property. Saumur is approximately 15 minutes close. Breakfast is great, outside, overlooking the Loire on a sunny day. Dinner experience is amazing, for a high-end dinner aprox 200 euro a couple.

I understand that this is a monument but please be aware that there's no lift, airco or pool (which is strange because the property is big and a pool could be built say, along with the mini golf or tennis court). Our visit being in June, we had to sleep with the windows open to survive the heat. If you do the same, ⚠️ TURN OUT THE LIGHTS before you go to sleep; otherwise, you will be invaded by a swarm of insects. I warned you, as nobody warned me. ⚠️ Another thing: though the staff is really great, if I was management, I would see that they are easily visible at breakfast time in case clients need something or food runs short. We had to knock the door and make them notice, this is not really what you expect about such a high-quality place.

Royal. Felt wonderful. It was a birthday gift for my girlfriend. Really elegant and well thought place with a wonderful view of the Loire River. Close to Saumur Castle. The personnel was really attentive and the property exceeded our expectations. Had a wonderful dinner there and had the chance of having a wonderful private breakfast because no one else was at the hotel.

    Nothing worth mentioning.

    Location and excellent restaurant.

Our room was large, clean and very comfortable although the bathroom was starting to look a little tired.

The location is excellent, the view of the Loire Valley is simply magnificent, especially if you have a room in the château itself with access to the terrace, shared by three rooms.

The main problem is that the hotel is not properly maintained. It feels like it hasn't been cared for a long time, and they just exploit what they have. The feeling of a certain abandonment that does not suit a four-star hotel. However, all the equipment in the bathroom was new and everything worked properly. We stayed in #1 suite. The restaurant was not opened for dinner when we stayed at the hotel, and we decided not to have breakfast at the hotel because of the uncertainty about the quality of breakfast.

Good location and comfortable room but surprised dinner not available to hotel guests not prebooked

directions a little difficult to follow from the river

The view from our room was superb! The architecture and decor of the hotel was wonderful! The breakfast was very good and included in the price.

The garden looked rather sad and uncared for.

restaurant was very good. The location was excellent.

    The room was rather small

Delightful staff. Excellent breakfast (warmed plates for the cooked food would have made it even better). Beautifully clean room with very comfortable bed. Fabulous view of the Loire.

The decor is ghastly! Disney meets Barbara Cartland. Might be tongue-in-cheek but maybe we missed the joke? A lovely old building has lost its way.

On arrival were upgraded to a beautiful room with lovely terrace overlooking the river Loire. Dinner in the restaurant was exceptional.

    No dislikes at all

Location - and views - excellent.

Entry and exit to the property were neither clear nor signposted - there is a one-way system and we hd to work it out for ourselves. Likewise there was no signposting for reception, which would have helped.
