About

Set in a historic Benedictine monastery from 1174, Klosterhotel Wöltingerode is located on the green outskirts of the Goslar, on the edge of the Harz Mountains. It offers 2 restaurants and a romantic cloister garden with ancient trees. Klosterhotel Wöltingerode has nonsmoking rooms with solid wood furniture and modern bathrooms. All rooms include a flat-screen TV, a telephone, free WiFi and a private bathroom with a shower and WC. The hotel is a 10-minute drive from the center of the UNESCO World Heritage town of Goslar. This is an ideal base for hiking or jogging along the monastery footpath, as well as cycling and exploring the Harz Mountains and nearby cultural attractions. Outdoor activities can also be arranged for groups. In the Klosterkrug à la carte restaurant, located on the ground floor of the annex, guests can enjoy traditional German dishes, seasonal specialties and a sense of the monastic tradition, and the à la carte restaurant serves modern dishes. This is also a romantic setting for weddings or a stylish setting for family or business events. Klosterhotel Wöltingerode is a good base for exploring the Harz Mountains. The hotel is easily accessible via the A7 and A395 motorways, the B6n road or from Vienenburg Train Station. The historic spa town of Bad Harzburg is only a few minutes away by car.

    Pros +

    • Beautiful, plenty of hot water, and a comfy bed. We love the history of the property!
    • Rooms are in old monastery with long coridors and an old church connected. Nice experience.
    • Location, breakfast, beds, helpful and smiling staff. Everything was great.

    Cons -

    • Staff went home at 6pm, no staff contactable in the evening. A few of the rooms could use some renovation.
    • We arrived about seven o'clock and the staff were gone. In spite of a big restaurant on site, it was not open for guests. We had a reservation for the nearby inn, but the kitchen was closed when we arrived (on time).Every other places to eat in the village where closed. The decor was very old monastery style (the 70´has called, they want their wall to wall carpet back :-))But still, value for money.
    • A small fridge in the room.

Amazing and cozy hotel with a lot of atmosphere and history. The surroundings are beautiful and there is a trail of almost 5 km on the hotel grounds which we enjoyed walking. We loved our stay and will be back :-)

A small fridge in the room.

Wonderful place! The hotel is located in the previous ancient monastery, has great views and a big territory. There are a restaurant, liquor production, a field with plants, a small zoo with roe deer, bees and chickens. The staff was very helpful and friendly, we arrived after the check-in time, but our key was waiting for us in a code-box. The room was comfortable, clean and big enough for two. Breakfast was rich and mega tasty. We will definitely come back!

A lovely location in an historic building.

We booked thinking it would be a cosy Christmassy stay but the hotel was quite austere. The bathroom wasn’t very well cleaned. We were surprised that the restaurant only provided a buffet (we hadn’t been told in advance) which wasn’t the best for vegetarians but the food was very tasty

Beautiful location, very peaceful. Lovely room.

The staff, except for the nice gentleman at the front desk, were very ill equipped to be in a service related position. Very slow, little to no English, unable to keep the food / drinks stocked. The lady at the little boutique was so incredibly lackluster in her job. No, response to my hello, no thank you for my purchase, barely a peep was made. It’s really a shame because the place could be a gold mine, but we would not return based on how poorly run it is.

    Beautiful room

Cold outside in the morning for breakfast, as the terasse is for evening sun

The building and the location was nice. They make good liquor

I was so excited to stay here, the property and rooms looked amazing from the photos. However, once we arrived, we got a completely different room than the one we booked. We had a special occation for this trip and booked what seemed to be a beautiful spacious room with red details and a double bed, instead, however, we got a hostel type of tiny room with very small bathroom and two bed mattresses squeezed together. Ive stayed in hostel rooms in the past that look so much better!.. It seemed like the cheapest budget room this hotel had. The noice issolation is terrible! At night some other guest was snoring like a tractor and we couldn’t sleep and were exhausted the next day!! If you have a noice problem, you could at least offer some earplugs for your guests. The breakfast was ok, but no options for vegans, so we just had some bread and coffee/juice. And all this for a ‘lovely’ price of 117eu. per night. I Will not stay here again and wont recommend to my friends either.

Beautiful building in a very quiet area. Monastery grounds with a chapel, a herb garden, distillery. Lovely for walks with a pet. Sufficient parking. Nice, little room, with everything you may need. The breakfast was delicious. Nice little restaurant for dinner. My dog loved it and so did we.Extra point- there was a wedding on the night of our stay, and we did not hear anything in the rooms. Total peacefulness.

Very nice grounds.Historic buildings.Free and secure parking.

Bathroom a bit small.Need a car as hotel is located in the countryside.

    9IrinaPosted on: 5-10-2023

The hotel is cozy, located in the ancient, authentic building. The landscape around is astonishing.

The buffet meal could be better.

    7AngelaPosted on: 5-2-2023

    The location is very nice

The service and communication could have been better. I booked a room for my parents and when asked if they could check in 1 hour early since they had a 4 hour drive and are 79 years old, I only received the answer that this could not be promised. I found this very poor. Also, it was not communicated that the price didn't include breakfast. I would have liked to see that on the booking page.

    7PaulinaPosted on: 1-5-2023

The location in a very old cloister. The size of the room was also good

The check in could only be until 9 pm, so we had to rush to check in before having dinner. The wifi password wasn't given and was nowhere to be found, so we could not use it. Since there is no receptionist, we could not ask

    The hotel and its surrounding

Currently construction work of the bridge is ongoing and to reach to hotel from city it takes more time, also once you land in the Vienenburg finding taxi is difficult task.

Idyllic place with beautiful atmosphere and lots to see. Quiet and spacious, very friendly staff

Everything was wonderful, but I would have enjoyed some bottled water on the room

    6PieterPosted on: 9-26-2022

Location good by car, short walk to Vienenburg if restaurant is full. Nicely done building, also used for company days out and as a wedding venue.

Room next to wedding venue (we were not part of the party) means it's loud until maybe midnight. Could have been more attentive when assigning rooms perhaps. Closet still had previous guest t-shirt and underwear in it (!) and bathroom vent cover hanging down and very loud. Small problems perhaps, but in total unfortunately below expectations.
