Pros +
- Charming family owned hotel that had completely modern rooms in a historic building. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here and would hight recommend a stay. The owners are hands-on operators and take pride in ensuring a pleasant stay. Would book again!
- We liked that parking was onsight since we were driving a rental car. We liked the view from the upstairs room onto the property and field with cows grazing. We liked the friendlyness of the owners and staff. The Chateau Villandry is right in the town. The surrounding countryside is very beautiful.
- Staff were helpful. Quiet and comfortable room. Dinner and breakfast were solid offerings.
Cons -
- Nothing to note here. Our room was a little small but comfortable and well appointed. We understand working within the constraints of historic buildings often makes for interesting shaped or sized rooms. So this is not a negative but worth mentioning.
- The building has been totally renovated to modern standards which sometimes can have a cold feeling and not very cozy. Our room was not swept or straightened for the days that we were there. We did not like the fact that it was hard to get meal nearby or at the hotel without spending more than $25 euros per person. We don't spend that much back home on a daily basis and since we were staying 4 nights it was not viable. The surrounding area is very quiet, VERY QUIET. There were no shops of interest nearby. Thank goodness there was a boulangerie nearby that opened very early when we set out every day for exploring. We chose this location as a base for exploring the Loire Valley, but would have preferred something with better eating choices and shopping and entertainment.

Lovely place to stay and close to Villandry. Great breakfast and helpful staff.
The hotel staff were friendly and welcoming. It was quiet yet only a short walk from the centre of Villandry.
Too hot
The breakfast was fine with ample selection. The staff was very helpful and accommodating a late arrival due to illness. The bed was very comfortable.
The room was small and the bathroom tiny. One had to step inside the tub to take a shower and there was no shower curtain. It was hard not to splash water on the floor.
Amazing location to the gardens of Villandry and Chateau Au D'Usse, and other stunning chateaus of the region. Location is its key feature.
The room was very small and pokey. The bathroom had mould in the grout, and was in desperate need of a shower curtain or screen. Unfortunately, when showering, regardless of what you did, a lot of water went onto the bathroom floor, which then became slippery and dangerous. Not tea or coffee facilities in the room, or a safe. We paid €3 for hot water to make our own tea. There were no toiletries other than a small bottle of shower gel. Expensive for a basic hotel.
Staff friendly and helpful and bedroom clean
Room so cramped only sliding door into bathroom, sink cracked, towels like cardboard £150 !!! Said it was a premier room.
Good breakfast, evening meal was lovely.Staff very friendlyMy G and T was just how it should be!
Some luxuries let it down a little - especially the bath towels. No tea/coffee making facilities.
Lovely quiet place, nice surroundings, very good value for money, good breakfast. Enjoyed the jacuzzi
Dinner was good, not excellent.
Nice peaceful location and very welcoming. Air conditoning in bedroom made it much more comfortable during our stay.
Bedroom a little bit small however it was comfortable, clean and tidy.
The staff was amazing. Very friendly and informative. Made an excellent dinner recommendation and reservations. Helped us book a boat tour and wine tour. Later in the evening upon returning, we met more staff and enjoyed talking to them and putting our pin in the map.
Next time I would book a bigger room and ask for a stand up shower option. Our room had a queen bed and that filled up the entire room. Very cozy and very clean.
Lovely building in a pretty part of the country. The staff were just super friendly people and we felt very welcome.
The room was very small and the continuous noise of the hot tub was disturbing. There was little space to hang towels and no radiator so towels remained damp. Not much hanging space for clothes either and no kettle in the room which maybe just a French thing!
Great location and comfortable rooms. Great parking.
Not a big fan of the restaurant
A lovely room in a large elegant house with a beautiful garden, within walking distance of the village of Villandry and the chateau. Excellent breakfast with plenty of home made items. They also sell home made foods at reception, including their excellent honey.
I was a little cold on the frst night as it was cold outside, and there was only one duvet, but I asked for another the next morning and it was immediately supplied, which solved the problem. Also they have a set menu for dinner in the low season, which offers no fish or vegetarian options (well, this is France!) so we ate out both evenings. I hope the menu is broader in the high season. We would certainly stay again.
Clean rooms, staff friendly great location
Perhaps the nicest part was the welcoming feel. Or the great breakfast. Or maybe the dinner. All at a reasonable price. I would have liked to have more time to get one of the treatments.
This could be a beautiful hotel but all of the original features have been removed and it is now soulless purely functional.
It resembles an EHPAD (old people’s home). All floors easily cleanable, food tasteless (apart from the dessert) and they even use a very noisy metal trolley to clear the breakfast dishes. The chapel is unrecognisable as such and lit with garish pink/purple tones.
Beautiful property adjacent to amazing Villandry Chateau and gardens. Clean and quiet modern rooms. Friendly staff. Wonderful breakfast. Would definitely stay again!
Comfortable and good size room in nicely renovated property. Grounds and property are very pleasant, and the staff were very nice and helpful at check in.
The fixed 3 course dinner was appreciated as we were bike touring and happy not to have to walk down the hill to the small town to find dinner; however, the food was pretty uninteresting and pre-prepared for French standards, and the wine list a bit pricey. Bike parking is outside, partially covered.
