Cons -
- only one charging spot for electric cars, which was occupied during our visit
- Having to leave it after two nights!
- Only complaint is we expected a balcony as stated on Booking.com, wasn’t available due to not being cleaned unfortunately. Otherwise would have been perfect.

The chateau itself looks fantastic in its surroundings, which can only be described as bucolic. The period detailing on both the interior and exterior is spectacular. There is horse stabling and riding/training on the site and, if you are horse lovers, this will definitely be for you. You can watch them exercise and train out of your room window. It truly is a very quiet and relaxing place to be. There is a nice pool area, although we were a little out of season, so a little cold to try it out. There are many places to go for walks around the area to enjoy the surroundings. The interior spaces are full of period features and the social areas are cosy and intimate. The property is described as a Hotel Restaurant and, after eating in the restaurant over the two nights we were there, we could see why. The food was excellent, akin to going to a fine dining restaurant. All food cooked by the proprietor (Antione). Michelle (wife of Antione) was an amazing host throughout our stay and helped us greatly. We couldn’t thank them enough for everything they did for us during our stay.
Having to leave it after two nights!
Beautiful rooms, delicious food, attentive service. When I booked the rooms, I hadn’t realised that there was a restaurant of such quality. A delightful stay.
Beautiful room, high ceilings, fabulous bed, staff were brilliant,

Beautiful house, very friendly staff and excellent dinner
Would have liked English TV channel and walk in shower
Superbe old chateau, unpretentious. Lovely dining. Enormous rooms.
Paper cups in the bedroom for hot drinks.
Beautiful house and a very comfortable stay. Large room and bathroom. A nice walk with your dog, lovely countryside and fresh air. A little remote but we found it no problem and it is signposted. Dinner was impressive and inexpensive and I’d consider it a must if you’re staying here. Leaving the best til last - the staff were fantastic. Welcoming and utterly professional.
Nothing to dislike
Imagine if you will the perfect dream of a country chateau in French Normandy and I promise you Chateau De La Rapee Hotel and Restaurant in Gisors would far exceed your expectations. The gorgeous chateau built in 1825, the perfectly decorated salmon and grey French Country room that would impress even Joanna Gaines with its design and wainscoting (and has an antique wardrobe that I am fairly sure would lead to Narnia if I were younger and still allowed to go), the beautiful grounds with century-old oak trees, and a restaurant sent straight from heaven. Chef Philippe Bergeron is AMAZING and turns eating into a magical experience. His "Son des saisons" menu takes into account the products seasons with the best producers in the region and the results are "incroyable!" I normally could care less about eating but this food was beyond delicious. This was one of the few places we stayed that had an outlet in the bathroom, actual vanity space for beauty and hygiene supplies, multiple mirrors, and actually provided enough towels. The staff were very helpful and friendly, and even helped us confirm dinner reservations at our next destination, since our French was rudimentary at best.
I wish I had booked two nights!
Excellent service, great wine list and very quiet
Location a bit out of the way, so we would recommend their excellent restaurant.
The main course of our dinners were good
We asked to have breakfast 15 minutes earlier so we could leave for our Shuttle at Calais . The manager said no.The slow service at dinner and being given a dessert which we hadn’t ordered. We were not made to feel welcome at this hotel.
Fabulous chateau hotel in its own grounds. Wonderful owners, great food and drink.
I’d like to say “ Je ne regrette rien” but I should have just parted with 45€ and tried the really old Calvados - “liquid gold” according to la chatelaine!
Great location, quiet but easily assessable. Lovely swimming pool. Fabulous restaurant
A little frustrating that the shutters on our windows had been painted shut
This is a stunning character property in a lovely forest location. Our room was extremely spacious with a big comfortable bed. We very much enjoyed our dinner on the attractive terrace. We found the owners and staff to be most helpful and friendly.
The bathroom door did not shut properly and there was no window or fan.
Quite a nice interior with a pleasant well preserved old atmosphere in the house
The breakfast was basic. No territory / no path to walk around - which is ok if you only come to sleep and continue your travel
The grounds were spacious to exercise our dog
The chefs wife who served us mostly was abrupt and made us feel unwelcome, the service in the restaurant was poor
Beautiful chateaux with lots of character and a warm welcome
We were offered dinner - 3 courses for €59 but here were big supplements on many of the dishes which was not clear and so it ended up being the most expensive dinner we have ever had!
Beautiful castle and nice room. Pool was great after long day!
Excellent restaurant and lovely peaceful location
Bedrooms are in need of refurbishment- very dated. More could be made of the breakfast room and the grounds- they are very simple
