Jungle Lodge Tikal is a historic hotel founded within the first archaeological camp of Tikal, in addition to standard rooms, suites and bungalows, offers a version perfect for travelers seeking adventure without sacrificing comfort. The “Exploration Headquarters” are the original rooms of the archaeologists who studied Tikal in the 50s. Their contemporary rustic style and open spaces invite you to relax at the end of the journey and live an amazing environment. They have a small wardrobe, tiled floors and a shared bathroom with free amenities. Most of the rooms have views of the gardens and access to all the hotel amenities too. The hotel has a swimming pool, beautiful gardens, restaurants, bars and a lounge area. The service of frontdesk is open since 6:00 am to 22:00 hrs here you can coordinate many activities special like: hiking, tours in the National Park Tikal and others. We are fortunate guardians and protectors of the Tikal National Park and we respect the standards established by the Ministry of Culture of Guatemala, limiting the use of electrical generators within the park, the schedules established with an electricity supply that operates during the following hours: 5:30 to 8:00 AM, 13:00 to 15:00 and 17:00 to 22:00 PM The hotel has free wifi internet service in common areas: reception and pool Jungle Lodge Tikal Hostel It's a 0.6 mi from the Central Plaza of city of Tikal and is surrounded by nature in all its splendor. Pros +

  • You can?t beat the location.
  • I had a problem with the room, because it didn't have electricity at night, so they moved us to a "hotel" room that cost a lot more. But, then we had problems with ants - millions of them, but they came and sprayed, and that solved that problem.
  • Being in the jungle right in Tikal Park cannot be beat. I sat in a chair outside my room and watched parrots fly around chattering. Location is perfect.

Cons -

  • The fan in the ceiling didn't get the air to the bed area, because there was a netting above the bed. It was hot - and it would have been nice to get the fan air to the bed area.
  • Restaurant was convenient but food average. Restaurant Staff didn't seem to know what they had to offer. I had to remind them to bring things that were supposed to be included in my meal. Not a problem for me but remember that electricity is limited.
  • The receptionnist did not say the truth about the weather for the next morning encouraging me to go and see the sunrise (not visible if cloudy).
