HOTEL MERCURIO SUL MARE - Fish restaurant and private beach

Quaint little resort, 20 minutes south of Tropea that has everything going for it. Beautiful setting, pool is updated and stylish, rooms are comfortable, and location to private beach with restaurant at the bottom of the hill was outstanding. Fresh seafood, cooked very perfectly. Beautiful blue waters for snorkeling with less crowds than the city. The thing the stands out is their wonderful staff. Very accomodating, super friendly and helpful. It was a fantastic stay!

The location was not what was advertised. It’s listed as beachfront but it’s about 200 meters from the beach (Rocky and not easily accessible) up and down a large hill/road. Had we known that it was not beachfront, we wld not have rented the place. As we had options to stay on the beach for the same price. We expressed our disappointment with the location and requested a refund but they refused. We ended up staying and visiting other area beaches. Other than that the bed was soft for us, the staff was pleasant and there was a view of the beach.

We had an amazing time at Mercurio sul Mare! The sea view from the terrace (with Stromboli in the background at sunset!) was absolutely stunning. The hotel has a warm, family-like atmosphere and everything was spotlessly clean and comfortable. The price/qualityratio-in lowseason- was unbeatable!The rooms are spacious and well-equipped, the restaurant serves delicious food, and the breakfast was excellent too. We especially loved the friendly staff — they made us feel right at home.There’s a lovely little pool (a bit cold in April, but already open!) and the location is perfect: peaceful, but very close to Tropea, a charming and picturesque town that’s definitely worth exploring.Highly recommended — we’d love to come back someday!

My stay at the hotel was very pleasant. The room was clean, tidy, and comfortable, and the staff was extremely kind and helpful. The location is good.Overall, everything was excellent. The only small complaint is that there were no glasses or cups in the room, which would have definitely improved the overall experience.Despite that, I was very satisfied with my stay and would gladly choose this hotel again.

Great quiet location, stunning views, large balcony, clean, excellent value. Very friendly and helpful staff, restaurant has excellent food. Dog-friendly. Good private parking.

If you have a dog, just be aware there are free-roaming dogs around.

Magical place with wonderful hosts. Lovely room with balcony overlooking the sea. “Secret” beach only a short walk down a very steep hill. Amazing fresh food for dinner.

We had a wonderful time in Mercurio. I would like to say a huge thank you to Giuseppe, his family, and all the hotel staff for a very warm welcome and excellent service. We took rooms with a sea view, the view exceeded all our expectations, the sunsets were amazing. We chose breakfast and dinner when booking a room, we rested for a week but the food was varied and we were satisfied. Breakfast in the form of a buffet, with a very good choice of products. Dinner was a starter in the form of pasta with seafood, meat or other pasta, the second course is fish or meat to choose from plus a side dish, and dessert. If you need something more than this, you can always order in the restaurant. The cuisine is excellent. The hotel has its own beach with sun loungers, 6 minutes walk from the hotel, in the summer there is a beach restaurant, bar. The sea is very beautiful, the water is transparent and clean, the entrance is rocky but this was not a problem for us. We also visited 4 beaches in this region by car, these are very beautiful beaches and places. You can always ask Giuseppe, he will tell you where you should go and what to see. During the vacation, he became our friend. Thank you very much Mercurio and Giuseppe for a wonderful vacation. I think we will definitely return to this hotel and restaurant.

We spent an amazing week at Mercurio Hotel! Giuseppe and his team are the most hospitable people we know and are doing everything possible for their guests. They always found time to have a chat with us, gave us nice tips about the surrounding and played all the time with our kids. Our son has celiac desease so every day they prepared something personal for him. Not to speak about the regular breakfast and dinners: everything was very delicious, fresh and abundant. Mercurio is located in Capo Vaticano, very close to the most beautiful beaches of Calabria (Spaggia di Grotticelle, di Riaci, Formicoli). You will definitely not hesitate to choose this hotel for your stay in Calabria!

Please ignore these few critical comments about Mercurio. I must admit we were also a bit sceptical when making our booking and reading them, but in the end it turned to be one of the most beautiful holidays we had in last few years. Unless you are a person who is critical by definition and instead of relaxing and enjoying your holidays, you will focus on finding some imperfections. Then please look for something else.

Very nice hotel with relaxing atmosphere and perfect staff. We had a great room with seaview. Small swimming pool just by the restaurant. Funny waiters and very friendly manager (maybe owner :-) I will definitely recomend to my friends.

Love, peace and tranquility. If this is what you’re looking for, this is your place. Do t let the road to get there fool you. This is an incredible place with great staff and atmosphere. Breathtaking views, clean rooms and good food. You’ll love it. Really nothing I can complain about!

Just... wow. The hotel appears to have undergone recent renovations and is really serene. Rooms very nice with a sea view. Good-sized pool for a refreshing swim. Dinner was excellent.

The hotel is located with distance to bigger hotels and other facilities and directly connected to nature. There is a small beach down the road and there are many possibilities to go hiking. The hotel has its own restaurant with very good and cheap food so ther is no need to go to another restaurant by car in the evening. There is a pool in the hotel with a great view and a bar attached, so that there is drinks available at any time. The hotel stuff is very friendly and helpfull with any kind of question. They also speak good english. For the service you get this price is absolutely perfect!

I had a small room with no view directed to the back of the building because there was no other room left. For me it was perfectly fine, if you would like to have a room with a view you may have to book in advance.

Very peaceful location with great views of the sea. I was the only guest in the restaurant and hotel but I think I counted 5 staff! Quite remote which probably accounts for the condition of the road to the hotel.

There are maintenance issues that need to be attended to. For instance, the door to my room had obviously been forced open at some point and the only way of keeping it shut was by locking it. The door to the shower room scraped the floor and there was no toilet roll holder.

The manager is rude and dumb. Makes guest waiting to check in, all time running around, very difficult to ask anything, answering irritably.Rather difficult to get to the place by car through steep slopes in thickets of reeds.The beach is nominal - very small and stony. Nothing to do, nowhere to go around.
