Fantastic gem in the mountains above Claviere. Above 2000m. You get there by snow mobile. Fantastic food and staff very friendly. Highly recommend. This was our second visit.
Nothing everything is fabulous
The Gimont lodge is located in a spectacular place nested in the middle of the ski area, reachable only via lifts during the day or snowmobile rides in the evening. The peace you experience there after the ski day is something you can't explain. The breakfast was rich and of great quality, with fresh fruit, coffee, pastries etc. It's clear that Mariano and Mariana take hosting very seriously.
There is nothing I don't like about the place and nothing bad I can say about the hosts and the staff. It's an excellent place and I'll go back again, like I've done many times before. Lovely mountain location, rustic charm and both the dinner and breakfast were excellent. I chose the property for a summer stay after a ski stop in the winter. As many of us were doing the etape du tour cycle event the owners were kind enough to do an early breakfast.
The proximity of rooms and shared bathrooms meant it was easy to be disturbed by other guests during the night. The access road to the property is also very rocky in patches so not an easy drive or cycle.
Super nice and cozy atmosphere, a nice breakfast included in the price and a very good Italian dinner in the downstairs restaurant (at a good price!).
Downside could be the road to the location, which was quite challenging to make by a sports car. Bathrooms only available outside of the room.

Really nice hosts who made every effort to ensure a nice stay up there at 2000m in mountain solitude. Room full of antique furniture and a very comfy and spacious bed. For motorcycle travelers: You absolutely need an off road bike to reach the place
