    Pros +

    • The staff was beyond wonderful - very helpful in many ways so friendly! The surrounding green hills made it such a peaceful and beautiful place to stay, along with the bird songs especially in the morning.
    • The spa was very nicely done and the restaurant had great food. The property setting and views are breathtaking and the location is peaceful and tranquil. The highlight was the staff who were really exceptional, friendly, generous really went above and beyond to be helpful. Feeling very happy to have found this little gem as we definitely would return to have a break from the city.
    • The staff were absolutely wonderful could not have been nicer or more accommodating. Fabulous service the room was excellent everything we needed. The view is amazing even though the weather was not good. The setting is beautiful. The food was excellent.

    Cons -

    • It's a bit of a drive but that's what makes it so peaceful, and the drive from any direction is lovely.
    • Slightly musty smell from the old hotel house and the rooms were dated. However the other parts of the property have been updated and are nice so I’m sure they will get around to the outdated furnishings and styling of the bedroom. The mattress was also a little uncomfortable.
    • Value for money regarding the room is not there. It's way too expensive for what you get. The rooms are outdated, with old sockets and facilities. Lighting is terrible, TVs are super old and you feel like you are in the 70s with old bedding too! One of my friends had to change room twice because of stains in the bed, cigarette smell and other things. They need to invest some money in updating the rooms. Pool was also closed with lovely weather so we couldn't use it. A guest was asking why and they could not explain and also didn't respond politely to him.

This hotel and grounds are an absolute gem. We were made very welcome by helpful staff. The hotel is a grand historic building with extensive grounds beautifully maintained. Our room was large, very comfortable with a very well equipped, spotlessly clean bathroom and great shower. We enjoyed our view of the rolling countryside and hills beyond. Large pool and spa all set on a lovely terrace. The food in the restaurant is really excellent and great value. They source everything locally. Our first course platter of cured meats and cheese was the best we have ever had in over 30 years of coming to Italy. Would definitely stay again. Thank you.

The hotel location and setting is lovely, right on top of the mountains. Hotel grounds are superb, with outstanding views. There are some lovely terraces and various areas to hang out. Breakfast and food in general was very good.

An historic building set in beautiful grounds. A large room and bathroom. A choice between the restaurant or pizzeria on site for evening meals. The Loiano area is beautiful and I would definitely return to further explore small towns in Tuscany. The staff were very kind, particularly in the restaurant. Great parking.

Amazing, we usually stay in 5 star hotels and this is up there with the best. It has old world charm, character and personality missing from so many hotels now, staff are excellent especially Matilda and restaurant staff were so friendly and accomadating with young baby

We got cought to a rainstorm while we were trying to go to San Gimignano on a motorbike with my wife and had to book the closest hotel since we were exhausted, wet and couldn’t continue. It was the beginning of our one week holiday in Italy and it had a very bad start, especially when my wife got sick because of exposure to rain and cold weather. So when we have arrived to Palazzo Loup hotel, we were soaked and in a terrible mode, however as soon as we entered the building and met Barbara, from that moment on it turned out to be an unforgettable memory for us. The most amazing thing in this hotel is its staff. They are polite, helpful and very professional. They went out of their way to make your stay as pleasant as it can be. We got served a special soup although it was not on the menu so that my wife can get better. They drove us to the pharmacy to get medicine. They made sure we are warm and comfortable to get well sooner. Thanks to them, we got on our feet in two days and enjoyed the rest of our journey. If we had been in an another hotel, we wouldn’t recover from the cold and the rest of our trip would be much more difficult. After our two-day stay in Palazzo Loup, it got a special place in our hearts for the rest of our lives. It is one of those places, which has its own character, has its own place in history and its environment, rather than an institutionalized accommodation for tourists. I recommend you to focus on its unique and precious sides rather than some of its shortcomings that relates to its age.

it was exceptional. the staff was extremely nice and helpful. the room was very good and the bed was comfortable. the breakfast was gorgeous and dinner at the restaurant was to die for.

The entire staff was very friendly

The room was very cold at first, only after an entire day with the A/C in heat mode it was comfortable. The breakfast could have a fruit salad. A hot water kettle in the room would be very nice.

The structure is truly magnificent, a wonderful garden welcomes customers together with a kind and helpful staff. The breakfast was good. The large room and the comfortable bed.

Few things I didn't like. The bathroom door did not close. I would have preferred the valley view room, but it wasn't given to us so I guess it was occupied. In addition, the rooms being a stone structure were cold, but by law it was not yet possible to turn on the radiators. The price maybe a bit high for being out of season but compensated by the beauty of the place.

Really exceeded our expectations! the hotel should really update their pictures because it was even nicer than shown on the pictures (which actually never ever happens).. ;) would recommend it to everybody looking for a nice accommodations near Bologna or Florence! (if you come by car)

lovely setting and views - fabulous food and staff

seemed very expensive food - had prepaid the stay with breakfast included and had a lunch when we arrived with 3 beers - in the evening we had a pizza and a couple of beers each - extra charge was 195 euros which was a lot for 2 main courses , 2 pizzas and 7 beers in total
