This 4-star hotel has a Championship golf course and is 5 miles from Athlone. All newly reformed rooms at the Glasson Lakehouse have free Wi-Fi, TVs and a room service menu. Deluxe rooms and suites have walk-in showers and baths. Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner menu is available in the Bonny's Restaurant.. The Lakeside Bar has a bar menu, excellent Guinness. Guests have free use of the well-equipped Power Gym, sauna and steam room. . For countryside walks, the Portlick Forest is nearby. The hotel is on the Main Shannon Waterway, making it accessible by boat. From junction 10 of the M6 motorway, the hotel is a 10-minute drive. Free parking is available.

Fab decor, comfy beds, beautiful area.
Loved the outdoor pool, the decor and the grounds. Really beautiful setting and nice touches in room.

Cons -

Really noisy rooms we could hear dogs barking next door. Would be beneficial if hot tubs were sheltered as I feel 50 was very dear to be sitting in a hot tub in the lashing rain. Would be great if there was a sauna/relaxation area indoors. We were almost charged twice for the hot tub only I had questioned it on checkout, as we werent given a receipt, which I found strange.
Was really disappointed by the staff at Glasson Lakehouse. From reception to the restaurant. Nothing was explained to us as we checked in to the hotel except for where we could book our breakfast or dinner. Our booking said we would have a bathtub but we didnt - maybe this needs to be updated on booking.com but that was disappointing. We went to reception to ask for thick robes to use for the pool as we saw everyone else had them - but it was never explained to us that these were available to use for the pool. The lady at reception said shed send us fresh ones as if we had already had them. The service in the restaurant was extremely disappointing - we were sat for drinks and told that we would get a drinks menu and that they would move us to another table when it was clean. 15 minutes later we had to move ourselves to the other table and ask another member of staff for a menu. The restaurant was not busy. When we finally ordered two drinks, they took over ten minutes to come. This turned us off booking in to the restaurant for our dinner in the evening. Breakfast service was the same the next morning - nothing about the self service station was explained to us, we werent offered a tea or coffee when we sat or when we even ordered our breakfast. The waiter took our breakfast order so abruptly that we had to ask the waiter to come back to take a tea/coffee order from us. We were unsure if maybe they have had a recent turnover of staff, and maybe there were many new staff being trained in, as the service was really poor for such a beautiful hotel. Overall, really let down by a trip that we looked forward to so much.
