Pros +
- We had a lovely stay with our family. We loved the hiking paths, the trout fishing and dinners!
- The staff is so helpful, they attended to our needs as fast as possible.they care about everyone safety..they acknowledged my birthday and set a beautiful table for us..All of the staff is exceptional
- The location of the resort is truly remarkable—secluded and surrounded by natural beauty. While the initial stretch of road leading to the property is somewhat rough, the sense of calm and remoteness it offers is well worth it. The resort is rich in character, filled with memorabilia and steeped in history, offering fascinating insight into the Gold Rush era and the heritage of Pilgrim’s Rest. The food was satisfactory, though there is room for improvement. That said, the hospitality and service were exceptional—warm, attentive, and welcoming throughout our stay. This is a place where you naturally find yourself drawn into its historical charm. I would highly recommend booking a longer stay to fully appreciate both the peaceful setting and the surrounding walking trails, which add to the overall experience.
Cons -
- Food could have been better, but the hospitality is nevertheless amazing.
- There's not really much for kids to do.The monkeys (although we were given a heads up) made it difficult for us to be comfortable in our room because you have to keep the doors and windows closed all time - no ventilation.
- Upon arrival, our rooms got mixed up. Given a thatch roof as a replacement. There was bugs in the bed. Then we got moved to another room and still bugs in the bed. Thankfully, the last room we moved into was fine.

The location, the staff, the food. Mount sheba is a gem. The staff is super friendly. I'm definitely going back
The place is lovely...everything so green and serene. Th staff are super friendly and helpful.Perfect if you wish to rest or have a love for hiking - quite a number of trails to explore. The restaurant serves delicious food. The shop on site comes in handy for necessities.

The food was great, staff was very friendly

The place was absolutely beautiful. There were electric blankets, heaters, hot water bottles. This made our wintery night a warm one. The staff are great. The place is so peaceful.
There was only 1 bathroom and toilet for a 6 sleeper. It should of atleast had 1 extra toilet. Also the pillows were so high.
Besides the gravel to the lodge it was perfect. Staff friendly and helpful.
Charming gem situated in a Rainforest. The room was meticulously clean. Great value for money. Friendly staff.
The food. Both dinner and breakfast ?. I'm a sucker for good food. The staff was excellent. They very accommodative as one cannot say there was language barrier.
The resort is hidden between mountains, which can only be reached by driving through a rainforest - which was a magical experience. Upon arrival, the staff were extremely friendly. Our unit, which sports a fireplace, was immaculate, with a huge bathroom and an exceptionally comfortable bed. It also has two comfortable chairs in front of the fireplace. The unit was cleaned every day, and the firewood was replaced at no extra charge. The food was excellent, and the breakfast was scrumptious. The bar has a dart board and a pool table, which we enjoyed immensely. It was fantastic fun to relax and be well-treated.
Beautiful place, staff is so friendly, their meals (breakfast & dinner)- excellent. Very quite place. You end up wishing to add the days for your vacation

Road, limite to do. Apes , dirtyness on stairs and in rooms.
Clean, friendly staff, food excellent!

Location, serenity, friendly staff, fantastic food
Cant think of anything
Staff always friendly and helpful. Food was great.
The 6km road to place is really bad.
Is a little slice of heaven. The property is amazing and extremely picturesque. Surrounded by a thick forest with fantastic hiking trails, just don’t wear crocs and socks like I did and look at the difficulty level before deciding on which hike to take. There are also hiking sticks available at the reception, just saying, as I did not notice. The staff are so helpful and extremely professional. They made it such a relaxing and rejuvenating stay over a long weekend for both my boyfriend and I as we celebrated his birthday. Anne’s hands is the spa that is available and the property. They were phenomenal and managed to work out the knots in my back. The full body massage is a must. Lastly I must talk on the food. It was delicious and rather large portions. A 3 course meal for dinner and a continental and hot breakfast. The options were great for meat lovers. It is truly worth a visit this haven.
Food was fresh, and tasty
This road to the hotel was the main consern
The fireplace in the room was fantastic, and I appreciated that the beds had electric warmers under the sheets. The hike to the waterfalls was gorgeous and the dining room was fancy with a classic vibe. The steak was tender and absolutely delicious! Altogether a wonderful time.
The rainforest made everything feel a little damp and clammy. But they did their best to overcome that with the fireplace and the bed warmer.
The staff members I interacted with were very friendly and eager to assist.
Not that I didn't like but monkeys were a bit scary. Luckily we were warned about them. On our check out day as we were packing the car they came next to the car with the aim of snatching something but fortunately we managed to chase them away as we were vigilant.
