Pros +
- It is great that the hotel is working to operate more sustainably and to reduce the amount of single use plastics generated. But with all its efforts I was mystified that it still uses individual plastic butter/margarine tubs at its breakfast buffet. This is so easy to replace.
- Not the first time I am going to this place. Everything was as expected. Rooms are comfy and everything which should be expected, coffee, aminities, etc... is available.Breakfast was good, however this time we had to wait as we came after a bus of Asian tourists left. Personally, this was not a big deal for me.The location is perfect to me, by car you can get everywhere easily. The look at the lake is relaxing.Price/service/quality ratio is simply unbeatable.
- Easy and quick booking as well as check-in. The hotel was way above my expectations in all areas. The room was clean, large and well-equipped. The area where the hotel is located is very nice and quite. The breakfast was excellent.
Cons -
- The heating airco was irregular, it was difficult to get a correct temperature.
- There is an extra charge of 40€ per person to use the indoor pool.
- Not that we didn't like these aspects, we enjoyed our trip, but useful to know if you are planning a stay. There is no reception, you have to check-in at the Chateau down the hill, and if you drive make note it is a one-way system around the hotel.Breakfast, evening meals & drinks bar are based dawn in the hotel "Chateau du Lac".Also there is no lift in the Manoir, fortunately I am fit & able, but even so hauling 2 x suitcases up four flights of steps which are quite steep is not for everyone.

Really nice setting. The Manor could host an Agatha Christie night. The bed was comfortable and the breakfast had great choices.

We have stayed in the Chateau before and decided to try the Manoir, it is approx 300m up the hill from the main hotel. The setting and the Manoir it-self are very quiet because it is just rooms only. Although in reception there is a self serve coffee machine which once I worked out how to operate it, it was well used first thing in the morning, fortunately we took milk with us as there was none available.

Never again!!! Don't go there!!!
Staff was rude, aggressive. Actually, there was no staff on premises, I had to go to another hotel to check in. Even though it is written on booking, it was not obvious. In short, worst service and customer expérience I had
Good breakfast. Nice location.
Staff not customer oriented. They moved us from the Manoir to the main hotel. Main hotel is like a poor 70’s throwback. Bad room decoration. Very little response to my concerns about being moved involuntarily.
Location
The purpose of paying for a hotel room is to sleep, a hotel room without a curtain is not fit for purpose and therefore all of the other qualities are irrelevant . Room 3 has 3 windows only 2 have curtains and there are bright lights outside .
Great breakfast, great service, great location for me - lots of restaurants and nice lake to run/walk around.
the location is beautiful, the view on the lake.
I had booked a room at Martin's Manor, when I reached the place at 22.30, the place was dark and seemed closed. I rang the bell, someone talked to me on the interphone, annoucing very rudely and briefly that I wasn't sleeping there and it was at the "Chateau"... I asked where it was and I ve been said to go down the way on my right and the place was on the left... with my luggage I walked down the street to only find a place called l'atelier du château, that was as dark as the Manor. I came back at the Manor, another couple was in the same situation than me. We called the phone number, rang the bell again, even went inside the place... NOBODY! I decided to take my car again and found out an arrow on the road stating Château du Lac. I parked the car and walked down the hill through stairs to reach the place. It was there!!! not at all where I ve been indicated by the person at the Manor. by that time it was already nearly 23.00. After 5 hours drive you prefer to be informed in advance that your room is not where you thought it was...
Great location and beautiful room very nice good big room very comfortable and beautiful views will definitely come back again.
The rooms are exceptional, very nice size, great equipment, clean and with very comfy beds. Breakfast is amazing, with a very nice offer of food and drinks and a lovely view of the Genval lake.
Everything was great!
Pleasant staffWe received an upgrade from the Manoir to the Château for 3 rooms that we had booked online. Much appreciatedGood breakfastLovely location on the lakeNice restaurants nearby, special mention for the Café du Lac.
The location is lovely and the hotel, staff and food is perfect. Nice restaurants nearby as well.
I thought I'd booked the manor, but they had relocated me to the chateau and they said I should have had an email but I didn't see it, so I parked at the manor, was told to check in at the chateau so walked down in the pouring rain, only to be told I was now staying at teh chateau so had to walk back in the pouring rain to get my car and luggage. Then was woken up at 6.45 (5.45 UK time) by someone using the gym near my room dropping weights and the thudding of feet running on a treadmill. So that could have been better.
Staff and A la carte restaurant food
A little noisy at night
The proximity to the lake
The service and staff wasn’t up to the rating. Breakfast was poor. It claims to have spa & fitness but you have to pay extra for it and book it and external people are allowed meaning often crowded.
Romantic and surrounded by beautiful trees.
The building is starting to get a little run down structurally. A bit of a shame as it’s lovely old architecture.
We booked in the Manor, but were upgraded into the main hotel at the last minute, which was a pleasant surprise. We originally booked one night an tacked an extra night on. It was the last 2 days of our summer road trip holiday.I stay at Martin's Chateau du Lac 1-3 times per year for a few days. It's a hidden gem in a nice nature area on a man-made lake. If you are looking for rest and a full-service hotel with spa and an excellent restaurant, you will be happy here. The breakfast was excellent as usual with everything you could desire. The spa, especially the steam bath is a personal favourite.
No complaints to be honest. We keep coming back because we really like it.
Beautiful location, great breakfast, comfy bed
The Manoir itself is stunning, the room was beautiful, spacious and very comfortable, there is plenty of parking, the area is quiet and peaceful. The breakfast exceeded our expectations, I definitely recommend it.
Unfortunately, the hotel forgot to inform us that the reception is in a completely different building, a 5-7 minute walk from the Manoir. So upon arrival late in the evening, I had to walk in the rain, check in, and walk back. Breakfast was also in the main building, luckily the weather had already improved. There was also difficulty in getting my deposit back. Although the hotel employee sort of did it in front of me using my own card, the deposit was not refunded and it took me several emails to different addresses for them to fix the problem. The communication was pretty confusing and in the end, no one even apologized. So the service could definitely be better.
