Phönix Hotel

The breakfast was really delicious and the view towards the valley spectacular. Our toddler enjoyed playing in the playground but couldn't use it all because there was cat poop in the sand.

There was a mistake with the assignment of the room. We ordered a family room with baby cot, but ended up with a single room. The hotel allowed us to do a late checkout and reimbursed us of the price difference, which made us happy.

We only liked the pool

The room had a bad odor, the carpet was dirty, no clima, the shower head was broken and it had no pressure... I thought 4 stars means more than an indoor pool. The 2 staff people serving us were super stressed and unfriendly. I don't recommend anyone going there. It was just a sad experience. Never again!

The Hotel was easy to reach both with car and public transportation. The view from our room was very nice. The room and bathroom were also clean. The breakfast was good. The wellness area includes pool and sauna, it was clean and relaxing. They also have lockers for your things. There were enough space for parking.

Quick check in, rooms are comfortable, service is good and kitchen is good.

Staff issues

There was a fire alarm in the middle of the, initiated by a drunken guest. There I learned the hotel has no staff at all at night in the hotel !!! Unbelievable

maybe another coffee machine in the breakfast room or make it clearer that the coffee flasks are availablecoffee/tea not available in the room - would be a nice touch for the price of the room.

It’s my 3rd stay at this hotel and I can honestly say next year I will be enjoying my 4th visit. I just love the friendliness of the staff, excellent breakfasts and the lovely pool and wellness area. Of course the view from your he top is magnificent overlooking the valley.

Very clean and comfortable. Set in a secluded location, but limited car parking, nice food and wine. Great breakfast selection.

No where to get any food at lunchtime. No where nearby either. So if you’re staying more than 1 night take some food with you.

Great hotel with a good local wine selection. The beds are reasonably comfy. I would recommend to eat here as the food is very good! The staff is accommodating and super helpful and the pool/wellness area are a great plus.

The pillows could be a bit fluffier :)

The property is located in a very nice area ,which gives you a perfect view from rooms. The hotel amenities are really well maintained, specially wellness area.There is enough place to park the car. Breakfast and dinner buffet was really good too. Special thanks to the staffs, who were very hospitable throughout the stay. Definitely stay again when I will be in the area .

it's a goof hotel. just a little old. and it was closed at 10 p.m that it was surprising for me that Hotel is closing. but i could go inside by card.

The hotel is perfect designed, sound quality, has all you need during work trip: rich breakfast, comfortable and big room, wellness: swimming pool and saunas to use after work, very good place to have great dinner. parking is directly at door for free.

Nicely placed hotel on a hill with nice views. Surroundings are very nice for hiking or cycling (e-bikes available at the hotel). Nice spa area.Rich breakfast buffet and dinner buffet optionally.

Room too small for double room.Rooms are also very hot in summer. Door of the room closes automatically, and smacks pretty loud while doing so.

The location on a hill above Bergneustadt is impressive. We were travelling with a baby, and restaurant staff were friendly and accommodating with a high chair etc.

Rooms were uncomfortably warm on a summer day. We were travelling with a baby and allocated a family room which didn't have AC or a fridge. A bathtub would have been easier to bathe the baby in compared to the narrow corner shower with sliding glass doors. A kettle to boil water for formula was provided on request. Parking for the rooms in the extension wing was far away from the room - we had to lug our bags some distance in the car park down steep steps and then along an internal corridor. (Interestingly, some parking spaces nearest to the hotel in that upper car park are reserved for staff.)Breakfast is continental and fairly average - standard hot drinks a bit disappointing (either some fairly tepid coffee from a thermos on the table, or tea that can be brewed with not-quite-hot-enough water from a samovar). Alternative is cappuccino etc made to order (at extra cost). We ordered room service at dinner one evening - despite going down to the restaurant to place the order (restaurant did not answer the phone), the order had evidently been forgotten about until I walked down again to chase it up 45 minutes later. When after more than 1 hour the order of two Flammkuchen was finally delivered to our room, this was done without apology, and of course the invoice included the room service charge. Not quite the level of service I would expect from a good hotel .... .
