Pros +
- Peaceful and very comfortable. Beds and linens were exceptional. The restaurant was excellent and staff were very friendly and professional.
- The place is excellent; it is a calm and recharging retreat. The decoration, ambience, furniture, and pool are of very good taste and in sync with the proposal. The cherry on top is the Michelin restaurant and wines; they are simply amazing.
- A very unique setting surrounded by beautiful nature. The rooms are well designed, the common areas are stunning, and fresh flower bouquets add a charming touch throughout. Breakfast was delicious, the pool water crystal clear and refreshing. The wine tour and tasting were also excellent. The wines are excellent too ☺️
Cons -
- I didn’t like the significant for everything especially since it is a very isolated place. 40 euros per hour per person to rent a bicycle. 80.euros per person to walk around on a horse for 45 minutes to see the same thing we saw on the orientation tour during the wine tasting. Bicycles should be free considering the walk from The Country House to the reception is about 1.4 km each way. Might want to consider golf carts for patrons to save on the transfers in jeeps back and forth.
- I think the room staff should be better equipped and trained for the high-standard hotel service they suggest. Reception and management are good, but Miguel, who was in charge of serving us in the suites, etc., was very grumpy and treated us poorly. This definitely affected our experience.Breakfast should also be improved. The bread was not very good, and there were few healthy options. We loved the yogurt (but we asked for it, they didn't offer it, and it was over in a day).

Everything was lovely!
The property is a bit off the beaten path (which we loved)- it was SO WORTH IT! What an amazing and memorable stay. From the minute we arrived at HMN to the moment we departed- the staff was amazing... so nice and accommodating. Everyone that we interacted with seemed very proud and happy to work at HMN. The history about HMN and the owners were so interesting... it made my friends and I want to cheer them on for continued success in preserving such a beautiful estate. Each of us received our own personalized high quality cotton pillow case- A nice and special personal touch. HMN offers so many activities that you can choose from, ranging from pottery class to horseback riding tours to vineyard tour with a picnic. The food options were 5-Stars. Breakfast at our villa was delicious – you can choose to sit family style with other guests or in front of the huge fireplace or poolside. Dinner was amazing at HMN restaurant – be sure to leave room for dessert! Unfortunately, we had a tight schedule and could only stay for 2 days. I hope to return for another visit with my family. Definitely will recommend HMN to all our friends that plan to visit Portugal.
Absolutely nothing to dislike.
Friendly staff, great food, amazing wines
Gorgeous vineyards, delicious wine and restaurant, beautiful accommodations.
Beautifully appointed
The distances to travel between facilities .. reception, vineyard, spa, dinner. All a 5-10 minute buggy ride.. which was impractical in 36 degree heat on dusty tracks Also disappointed with the view .. the rolling fields and vineyards occluded by shrubbery and huge hedge We had booked a wine tasting .. staff arrived to our accommodation 25 minutes late then we were transported in the back of a dusty jeep to the vineyard. My husband and my clothes were filthy when we arrived. The jeep with the windows open made it impossible for us to hear what the guide was saying. Our evening meal was served in a beautiful setting, but sadly did not live up to expectations. The service was poor, most certainly short staffed and the main course was cold
Wonderful estate, great winery tour, massage/spa, the pool. The food was the best part! Absolutely delicious. Martina was a wonderful server too.
The room was quite small, air conditioning not strong enough so it was way too hot, staff made quite a lot of errors and were not accommodating
The venue is excellent for someone to disconnect and be in nature 24/7. The food was outstanding as well the amazing wine. Pedro was an amazing waiter for us as well. The kids enjoyed the animals, the wine tasting tour was very nice as well. Amazing venue away from the city rush. We got upgraded due to a AC issue, the whole team was amazing in accomodating us.
The overpriced activities. All experiences are amazing for us and kids, but the prices for each was too unreasonably high.
The staff in the Terracotta property we were in were very helpful and charming, without them the stay would have been unbearable. Breakfast was good and provided in the accommodation by the friendly and helpful staff.
Restaurant was nearly 3 kilometres from our room, the road was gravel and very , very dusty if you took the buggy provided you would be covered in a fine dust! That’s on top of the bumpy and in parts corrugated surface! We had to use room service as we couldn’t face the marathon to the restaurant, so in consequence the food for dinner was cold and on two occasions there were no staff to help out .
Everything! The design of this place is world class - there is attention paid to every detail, from lighting, to music, olive oil, bread + wine in our rooms, the views, fresh and festive flower arrangements, the fireplace setup for us when we returned from dinner (dinner was also excellent) - the ride service, gorgeous, spacious common spaces that allow you to interact with other guests comfortably, the golf cart access and sauna were wonderful. We loved our wine tour with Claudia, the staff was always so helpful, and we felt so peaceful and lucky to have found this gorgeous place. Ironically and also because we felt so present being here, I barely took photos, so you'll have to just see for yourself when you arrive :) We really related to their culture of sustainability and eco-friendliness and hope to return as much as we can ❤️ Muito, muito obrigada pela experiencia!
gorgeous property, beautiful rooms, enjoyed the vineyard tour and wine tasting
terrible service, staffing problems at this hotel need to be sorted out, especially in the restaurant
location, architecture, quality of the services and the facilities - the spa is a must
the quality of the food deteriorated since we had last been there
Beautiful room and fantastic location. Staff truly lovely.
All good
Wonderful accommodation. We were upgraded to a suite. The property is huge in fact we got lost driving around it
Restaurant although not bad is not quite up to the high standard of everything else
The products used for preparing the meals were good and obviously there's an effort to get locally sourced fruits and veggiesThere are so many activities available for kids and adults as well and the staff doing the activities for kids are very friendlyThe vineyard and orchard and olive trees areas are clean and well maintained
Breakfast was late, starting at 8.30 and no other option of getting anything for kids before that timeStaff at the Ancoradouro house was very unwelcoming and the noise they were making while constantly moving tables and chairs around was too muchThe road to access the Herdade is very badThe staff moves around in big jeeps even for little deliveries from one point to another so they are polluting allot and dusting
The welcome from reception and the support in sorting out our lunch and wine tasting. The service and quality of food in the restaurant was superb. The wine is also fabulous and we enjoyed our tour of the vineyard and our tasting experience. Such depth and variation from a young vineyard. The staff are all wonderful, knowledgable, enthusiastic and helpful. They clearly love their work and ensuring the guest experience is the best. The family who own and run the vineyard, hotel and restaurant seem totally committed to its success and are clearly very proud of their achievement. We met two members of the family who were genuinely interested to know we were having a great time.
Great rooms, beautiful environment, fantastic view
Nothing really to complain; if one would have to say at least one thing that could have been better than I would state that there could have been power outlets next to the bed to charge the phone
The view
Some of the staff were rude, and didn't inform us how long things really took, room service took up to 3 hrs to be delivered and two hrs to be cleared. The room service menu is extremely limited, basically no dinner is available on the menu, only snacks are available after 4pm. Considering how isolated the area was, we were beyond shocked how limited the room service was. Most items on menu are not vegetarian or vegan friendly. We had to get a taxi and go to the closest supermarket to get essentials to survive our stay.
The nature surrounding the hotels are very beatiful. Our hotel room was delicately furnished, the bed was very comfortable and the room was very clean. The country house, where we stayed, was in general nice and had a relaxing atmosphere. The restaurant was really good, especially the desserts.
Our room had very little sound proofing. Being by the road and near the kitchen, we heard a lot of traffic noise, and noise from the kitchen in the morning. We also heard everything from the other guests in the hall, in the neighbor rooms and outside. As the facilities at the resort are very spread out, there's a lot of road traffic. The hotel has a transport arrangement to get guests to and from their rooms/suites/villas to other facilities such as the restaurant. But we felt that we vere always forgotten hm when having booked the transport, waiting for 15-20 minutes by the road on the heat until we called and asked. The country house is a bit run down, and our bathroom had black mold between the tiles. The service was very different from person so person. We had very little information when we arrived, so we had to ask about everything all the time.
