Hotel Tauernpasshöhe

I enjoyed my stay at this simple but practical hotel. Reading the previous reviews I expected much worse, but was nicely surprised when arrived. Staff was super sweet from receptionist lady who checked me in 2 hours earlier than they normally do at Wagner(just across the road) to cleaning girls who came every day to tidy up the room and friendly guys who served really good breakfast. Wifi was strong in my room (11), bed firm and comfy. Shower was newly refurbished with good pressure, and room was warm (and you can control the heating) and good size with enough furniture and a nice view. Heated changing room and storage downstairs was handy as well

The main issue is the building itself which seemed to be built without any soundproof isolation at all. You will hear every sound of people around, so have earplugs! A bit of musty smell in the public lounge and retro decor from 80s-90s might not be to your taste. Pillows in my room were way too thin (I used two as stayed alone in the double room)

The location is great, the rooms are clean, comfortable beds. Very good value for money.

Friendly staff, useful lounge, plenty of hot water for showers, comfortable beds, toilets on landing were useful. Breakfast was reasonable but toaster didn’t turn off and was broken. Photos of hotel in older times was an interesting exhibit on the walls.

No fresh fruit option or pastries at breakfast. Rooms not very well insulated so can hear people in next door rooms sometimes if they speak loudly. Room decor was a bit older style but carpet was nice to have.

Decadent building, an indecent room with sloping floors, old and dirty carpeting, a chemical toilet that flushes poorly, a terrible stench throughout. Terrible experience.

Great location, parking is safe for the cars. Rooms were clean and warm. Breakfast was sufficient.

No Wifi. They calim to have, give you the password, but its signal is simply too weak to use. In 2022 this is unbeleiveable.Pillows are horrible, they have no shape, uncomfortable to sleep with.Bathroom has no venting.

The staff was very nice, they provided gluten-free bread for sensitive wife.

The overall experience is "cheap", even tho the place itself wasn't that cheap. They have two locations (the other one is the Hotel Wagner) and this one is obviously the worse one. For example there were no vegetables for breakfast here, but there were in the "better hotel" (so they did the shopping anyways, but they simply didn't include a single peppers, tomato or something - which costs like half EUR... - into our breakfast, only for the "better hotel". These things just leave such a bad taste on the overall experience... - and they only saved half EUR/person/day...

Nice staff, great location

Rooms were cold. We were there right after reopen (actually got moved next door to Samson Hotel). The heaters were lukewarm during our stay. Not possible to dry your gloves, scarves etc. They did bring us an extra electric heater when we asked, so staff was super helpful about it.

very good value for money. the breakfast stuffs is excellent too.
