About
If you are looking for a modern, highly standardized hotel, we might not be the right choice for you. However, if you appreciate places with soul—where nature, authenticity, and independent spirit come together to make every stay unique—we would be delighted to welcome you. Welcome to La Vallée Heureuse, an authentic hotel in the heart of the Jura region. La Vallée Heureuse is an independent, family-run hotel on an intimate scale, where we have chosen to preserve a simple, warm, and authentic atmosphere. Here, you won’t find a standardized establishment where every detail is rigidly calibrated. Our hotel moves to the rhythm of its surroundings: a garden that embraces nature and allows for a touch of wildness, and spaces rich in history and personality. We love this vibrant, natural feel—far removed from manicured lawns and overly uniform décor. Our rooms reflect the spirit of the house. They make no attempt to compete with contemporary hotels featuring ultra-modern lines; instead, they prioritize comfort, tranquility, and a welcoming ambiance. La Vallée Heureuse is, above all, a place where you can take your time. We offer a small team, a family-style welcome, traditional cuisine inspired by French regional flavors, and a genuine desire to share our region with you in a natural, unpretentious setting. La Vallée Heureuse lives up to its name: a simple, lively, and sincere place in the heart of the Jura.

Pros +
- Beautiful setting, we even saw deer bounding across the valley while we enjoyed a delicious (and generous) breakfast. The staff were friendly and helpful. We had the family suite and it was nice to have the twin room separated by an internal door from the master bedroom. We also loved the sound of the stream.
- Nice location friendly staff good restaurant parking
- Beautiful surroundings, peaceful with the sound of the running river and small waterfalls to enjoy. The staff are welcoming and friendly. We enjoyed a delicious dinner served on the terrace, worthy of a Michelin award! The rooms are clean and comfortable, the swimming pool is a treat on a warm summer afternoon. Wonderful. I would recommend to stay here!
Cons -
- The family suite is spacious and worked well, but having the toilet room next to the master bedroom was inconvenient (there is no hallway once you’re inside the suite, so it’s directly by the sleeping area). We had three small children using it and would have appreciated a small air freshener ?
- Price too high. Very small toilet and bed.

Nothing!
Perfect place. I finally decided to book there after seeing it many times on the road to/from Geneva and I am glad I did. Everything was perfect. We had a room looking to the pool side and it was very enjoyable. The room was comfortable, nice terrace in the afternoon sun, the bathroom is small but effective. The welcome was good, it is indeed a short gravelly drive to the hotel parking (better than on the N5 passing by) but it is fine. We also had dinner in the restaurant, honestly the food was really good, even original (the 'small onion pie' ;). After dinner, a stroll in the area is very pleasant. The N5 passing next to the hotel does not cause too much noise and is very quiet at night. By the way, Poligny close by is a really worthwhile place to visit, too. Staff/owners were very pleasant. A really good discovery for us.
Not much to say. As written above, it was all perfect. If any suggestion is needed, then maybe propose a choice of omelet at breakfast but the person seemed to be alone there, not sure he would have the time. Breakfast was great in any case.
The location, the room and dinner. Also very nice surroundingd and friendly staff.
No muscito nets because close to the water and no airco.
Very comfortable & clean with friendly, helpful staff. The hotel is in a very pretty location despite its proximity
The location while a little remote is beautiful.
We are afraid the restaurant is very high priced for very mediocre food. The cook should Google terrine and onion soup recipes to understand what they are. Same goes for other items on menu. We do better at home. And while breakfast is adequate the price is the same we paid at a five star hotel in Dijon, certainly not value for money. To be a real success in a beautiful location the young owners have much to learn. This establishment could be so much more. We wish them luck.
Lovely green location & places to sit to enjoy a drink
Proximity to the road but it’s quiet at night
Charming old mill building, cleverly modernised. Beautiful setting. Close to the old Geneva road but not too close. Excellent food. Modernised bedroom, overlooking the mill stream.
Bedding was very hot on a hot night. No lift and a lot of tricky stairs. If the hotel were full, you might have to park on the main road. Despite these comments, I would stay there again because the charm of the surroundings and of the staff made it a delight.
Excellent location on our route from Calais to the Alpes. Beautiful hotel with pretty gardens. Room was very comfortable. Restaurant very good with home cooked food.
Nothing to dislike. Lots of stairs so wouldn’t be suitable for older people.
Very interesting building and location. Nice restaurant. Great nature and small river. Good food and breakfast.
Relaxing location near a river. Fine apartments, friendly staff.
We stopped on our way from Italy back to Le Havre, it was a treat to have a night here in this nice quiet location. The pool was tranquil. The staff were helpful and friendly. The chef cooked an outstanding dinner. The breakfast was beautifully presented, with a wide selection of tempting items. The garden was beautiful. I wished we could have stayed longer.
The layout of the house and reception entrance was confusing. We parked at the end of a driveway which seemed to lead to the reception but as it was on different levels we got a bit lost. More could be done to show the way and the driveway needs patching as it was rutted. I realise it was a modern conversion of an old building and it has problems but I’m just saying what I didn’t like. Clear signage would help. But we loved the place.
Stunning location, great facilities, lovely food and charming hosts!
Very nice location, wonderful garden, walk distance to the closest village
The dinner was pretty bad. The risotto was like a creamy soup and the beef Wellington rather poor quality meat.
An excellent dinner in a picturesque location
The only parking was on the road up a steep slope from the hotel, my wife who has limited mobility found it difficult to negotiateThe room was a a little sparse for a hotel charging these rates
interesting situation. loved the sound of the river alongside. good food. lovely family running it.
On a busy road. parking not easy
Beautiful location with very friendly staff. Nice swimming pools and lots to see in the area. Breakfast is good and diner is excellent, the hotel has a young and brilliant chef. The view from the restaurant is very nice and together with the food it is a perfect match.
a collection of buildings best suited for ramblers/walkers quite a reasonable supper. not exceptional.
room21 opened onto a gangway which all walked alonglots of stairs to climb. bed not v comfortable.
wonderful atmosphere, situation and team. delicious food.
