Just 492 feet from Basel Main Train Station and the airport shuttle bus and only 10 minutes' ride by public transport to Basel Messe convention center, Metropol Hotel is a modern nonsmoking hotel in the center of Basel . Metropol Hotel’s bright and soundproof rooms feature a flat-screen satellite TV, a mini-bar, a free coffee/tea maker, and a bathroom with toiletries, and a hairdryer. Free wired internet access is available in some rooms. All rooms are connected to a central ventilation system. A 24-hour reception is available at the Metropol Hotel and an on-site private parking garage can be used against a surcharge. An internet station is available free of charge in the lounge room, which is also available for small meetings.

- Close to everything; train station, shopping and restaurants.
- Room was fine.

Cons -
- TV did not work and we had not water for a short while.
- I had to carry my luggage up two flights of stairs to get to reception. The receptioin desk closes at 8pm. There is so little sound insulation I could hear someone urinating in another room. This is a 2 star, not 4 star hotel.
- Never managed to check in a reception locked and not answer phone
