    • This property is gorgeous and a real treat to have stayed in such a beautiful building. The owners are fabulous hosts. Nothing was any trouble. I arrived and asked about using the pool. It was immediately made available for me to use. I had always wanted to stay in a Chateau and this did not disappoint. Our room was amazing.
    • Beautiful building and grounds, yes some areas looked like they needed repair but thought this added to the charm of the building. Staff were great always attentive. Pool area and patio were great. Breakfast was excellent with a great choice of food.
    • Old Classic building and surrounding

    Cons -

    • Only down side was no food available on an evening but menus for food delivery available from reception.
    • No breakfast and Dinner option at hotel, if you don’t have car then it’s difficult to manage as it’s away from city centre. Option remains is pizza delivery from Domino’s .
    • Place in need of some updating but I suppose too aggressive a job would have destroyed the charm of the place. We were there in early May and it was still cool and damp outside and in fact it was raining the day we were there. This probably took a little sheen off the place. Hosts were accommodating and friendly. It was a pretty good value for the money but the place could sparkle with a little cash infusion.

First class room, first class breakfast, dinning out recommendation very good. Hostess very helpful and friendly, we will go again.

Dinner in hotel would have been better.

Superb chateau from top to bottom. Large rooms. Large beds which are very comfortable. Hosts super nice breakfast is good value and plentiful Pool is perfect for doing nothing or swimming in the warm waters. Within 3 or 4 beach resorts after a short drive.

Apparently drinks are available in the evening but we missed that on the documentation. However we bought our own in Would have been nice to have some basic food in the evenings but it’s not planned.

Stunning, unspoilt chateau in a lovely location. Bed was very comfortable.

A great shame that there is no longer a restaurant on site. Would have been nice to have had tea/coffee facilities in our room.

Very good breakfast for the price. Very comfortable chairs in breakfast room. Amazingly comfortable bedding. Birdwatching opportunities, especially seeing the cranes in their nests and baby hoopoes.

A restaurant and bar, particularly in the evening, would have been lovely. We wouldn’t have gone out in the evening!!

perfect for feeling life at the château. very good hosts from Holland. excellent breakfast. do not miss!

it’s starting to show a bit of wear and tear. to be expected in such a castle. these last 4 years were tough on everyone and everything. still, awesome place

Beautiful hotel set in private grounds, an oasis on the edge of town.

Unfortunately it no longer does evening meals

Chateau was beautiful, with wonderful antique furnishings. Our room was enormous (15) with every comfort you needed. A huge window looked over the spectacular gardens. A heated outdoor pool and loungers was a bonus. Breakfast buffet attractively laid out, with boiled eggs on request.

Elegant historic building with pool . Excellent and friendly manager . Good choice of local restaurants nearby

Bedrooms were excessively hot + 28C at night . Rooms need air conditioning . I was surprised not to see solar panels anywhere .

The building looks impressive. The location was convenient for us on our road trip north, the grounds were delightful.

Unfortunately we arrived in a heatwave so no aircon and charges for water not great. We were also unlucky that we had a great deal of noise disturbance throughout the nights we were there.

    10AlistairPosted on: 8-18-2023

A very lovely peaceful location with an excellent host. The grounds are enormous, they would take several days to walk through the beautiful forest walks.

    10SallyPosted on: 7-10-2023

the ambiance, the building & the grounds were exceptional

    no restaurant

    10EriksPosted on: 6-22-2023

Very friendly and polite staff. Swimming pool and tennis court were clean and atmosphere overall excellent. The warm croissants in breakfast were extremely delicious. Would definitely recommend this hotel for everyone.

The chateau is absolutely stunning in its attention to detail. The owners have worked magic with their devotion to this property. The gardens are beautiful, the rooms are luscious and the property stands out as an absolute gem in the little invillage of Challan. We loved the breakfast in such an elegant setting. It’s worth driving out of your way to experience this incredible place and the very special owners who have made a wonderful oasis where you’d least expect it.

    Absolutely nothing!
