Nice beach close to the hotel
Check-in process took long time after arrival. Room conditions are bad. Pool area is full of people.
Not the most modern, but well maintained spa hotel, with a great gym, ? fields. The spa is amazing and the restaurants serve good food. Staff is nice. Overall it was positively surprising experience. Good job!
Parking spaces are quite on the limit, even though you need to pay for them it's not guaranteed you will find space nearby your room.
Everything under one roof, which is handy.
Breakfast is very basic, nothing exceptional. Rooms are already worn-out and need renovating.
Only the SPA was good.
The suite room was big enough but very old fashion and not worth the money. The sauna did not worked well. No minibar available. The towels were too used and not soft enough. The bed was very comfortable. The breakfast was very poor for 4 stars hotel (e.g. there wasn't even honey or any fruits available).A very bad surprise was that you had to pay for the parking, approx. 9 Eur per day. There are 3 restaurants in Katinkulta and all restaurants did not met our expectations (only hamburgers or pizza). The third restaurant Easy Kitchen is expensive and had very poor menu, no even pasta available. One day we went to restaurant Kippo in Vuokatti (by car approx.5 min from Katinkulta), and highly recommend it.
I like the swimming pool and smoked sauna. Breakfast buffet was very good.
The room is outdated. Balcony was dirty and there was some bird's poop. In the toilet floor, I saw some small worms crawling ?I didn't like also, how long we wait in the O' Learys restaurant entrance to be assisted in our seats.. And wait long time with our foods to be serve. The waitress gave me the wrong bills and I paid almost double price of our orders.. No compensation receive and the waitress didn't say sorry either. She just said that the table mixed up ?♀️
Our room was large, surrounding areas of the hotel are very pretty. Good breakfast, some vegan options available upon request. Spa area quite small but fun nonetheless. Couple restaurants available on the property for lunch & dinner.
Our room was poorly cleaned, floors very dirty, stains on door, balcony doors, etc. A bit outdated interior. Paid parking. My initial wish/request for vegan options for breakfast was left unanswered. In the morning, when asked from the kitchen, we were told that they can provide us more options tomorrow morning, which was very kind of them and we greatly appreciated. Just mildly upsetting that our wish wasn’t forwarded to them in time to have some options on the first breakfast. Night reception was rather unwelcoming.
The room was comfortable. A lot of sport activities around.
Nobody cleaned our room during three days (probably because our pet). And it was unusual for hotel there were no a shampoo.
The pools and the saunas are relaxing.
The facilities are quite old. Something I found absolutely disgusting was that the remote of the TV was dirty. It was covered for some kind of tallow and dust.
O’learys staff was friendly, But how can the place keep tables half empty, while customers still queue, and at the same time food was takin nearly over an Hour to be served. Poor management, or kitchen just absolutely can not operate. Breakfast wasn’t too great. Bacon was slimey, floating on oil. Bread was dry, everything filled with sugar.
Katinkulta in general was Big disappoinment. Negligent staff, rooms were worn, hole building smells like mold. Spa is well outdated.
spa facilities
restaurant prices were high
Poor
We booked a room with 'large double bed' like you descripe. We paid a little bit extra for the room because of that. False promise as the room had two separate single beds pulled together. There was an option for that kind of room as well with cheaper price, but we didn't take it just to get that room with double bed. Don't do false marketing please.
One night in hotel
The hotelroom was oldfashion and expensive, not luxury
Breakfast was in good Finnish stardards with good covid awereness.
Hotel lobby was disorienting. Long way from spa to own room. R-Kioski closed pretty early.
Good room, good breakfast
Very expensive pet fee, 35eur. Parking more expensive than said on booking.com.
Disappointing
Parking fee, standard breakfast without imagination, room with view on the trash bins
Room was spacious and the bathroom as well. The breakfast was very good, all you could think of eating at a breakfast and more. Location is right next to the lake, which makes it a nice location for people seeking lake activities.
All in all, the hotel's design is a bit old; for example, the rugs in the hotel and in the room looked a bit from the late 80', but if you're prepared and know this it's not a big thing.
The "spa" is quite fun, especially if you're travelling with kids. Breakfast was pretty good too and we didn't have a problem finding parking space even once. Smoke sauna out back was very cool and I enjoyed it a lot, even though my canadian husband couldn't take the heat.
Everything was pretty worn and out of date. The bathroom was clearly cleaned on a very regular basis but things like the bathroom sink were stained and could have used a deep clean. One pillowcase had what looked like a small bloodstain on it. Sounds from hallway were so clear I thought we left the door open several times. Restaurants in the hotel were very expensive for their quality.
