Pros +
- This is your basic waypoint with clean basic facilities. It is absolutely a perfect location for those on the Camino de Santiago. The best thing is the restaurant and bar downstairs— good food with a pilgrim menu of the day—although there was no noise whatsoever.
- Hostal Alto Páramo – Stay from December 8–9Rating: SatisfactorioI stayed at Hostal Alto Páramo for one night, and overall the experience was satisfactory. The room was clean and adequate for a short stay, and the check-in process was straightforward. One important detail to keep in mind is the location.A decent option for a simple overnight stop, especially if proximity to town is not a priority.
- It is on the camino route. Staff were nice in spite of language barrier. Clean sheets and towels. With TV but no remote.
Cons -
- The bed linens were a little worn, but very clean.
- The hostal is quite far from the town center, which can be inconvenient if you’re hoping to explore Villadangos del Paramo or Astorga, or access restaurants and services without driving. Because of this, it’s better suited for travelers passing through or those who don’t mind the distance.
- It is on a busy highway, a truck stop, next to a gas station. I could hear the road noise at night. It is located before you get to the town proper.

Great location on the Camino. Great hospitality. great food.
Restuarant closes early on Sunday.
No plug for sink or tub. Staff does not speak any English which caused a complete miscommunication of pilgrim dinner.
Pilgrims- keep walking
Loud truck stop with below average food. Service was decent.
Easy access, clean, helpful staff.
No dislikes
Clean, comfortable beds and right on the Camino
Functional
It’s right on a busy road with lots of trucks coming through all hours. It’s also 1.5km outside of town (at the front end), so if you’re going to Astorga, that adds to an already longish etapa.
Very pleasant staff… great facilities. ..very clean
Unfortunately I didn’t sleep because the room was very hot no window to the outside only a window internally. There should be a fan in the room to circulate air.
Depressing location and no options for food other than the gas station or menu of the day from the hostel- avoid if you can.
Location, no other food options, on side of highway
It was a clean place to sleep and shower. The 2nd shift proprietors were very nice
Its a truck stop. U cant see the gas station or the highway from the angle of their pic but they are right up against them. Sadly they price gouged knowing there was nowhere around to eat. pilgrim meal $23 and not worth it.
Convenient to Camino. Good food.
There was no remote for tv so it didn’t work. Asked about and they said tgey didn’t have the remote.
The staff were absolutely incredible. Very accommodating to all our requests and despite a language barrier, always went out of their way to make sure we were happy.
Important to note: It is beside a gas station on the highway about 1km outside of the town. Walls are paper thin so you can hear everything. Bathroom is very tight.
Right on the trail, clean
Not much to do in this town
Food was adequate.
Staff was rude or ignored me during check-in, check-out, and during meals.
It was clean and well equipped. The owners were attentive and responsive.
The property is on the main road through town. There was traffic at night so if you slept on the street side it was noisy. Also we happened to be there the night of a local holiday. This meant that fireworks and loud music blared until 2 AM. This had nothing to do with the owners just that you may find the location to be a Linus on a weekend or holiday.
A very friendly and welcoming team. The hostel was all that I needed and had a comfortable bed and a hot shower. Lunch was spot on, at Easter when things are busy I was very pleased.
The location on the main road but with triple glazing I heard nothing. Did smell damp
The room was sparse, but clean and comfortable. The staff was very nice and helpful. The price was a good value.
The location is on a busy highway about 2/3 mile away from town.
The staff were lovely.
It is a truck stop in the middle of nowhere. Nothing to do. Food was mediocre.
